since lucas has his nails painted black do you think kenzie would ever paint them for lucas?

Funnily enough im pretty sure this was the first lukenzie drawing i did years ago when i was first considering the ship (old designs jumpscare lol)

Anyway i was compelled to redraw it as i see them neow 🙂‍↕️🤭

Ah so im tabling lightbox expo so i think ill try to get tpp ep 1, 2, & 3 prose book finished for October. BUT it will be only vignette illustrations instead of doing a few pages as comics. Trying to save my wrist 😂😂

Old one from 2021. 2021 designs was based of a friends draw which prompted this. The redo is trying to make this style more cohesive plus two extra characters and their college designs :)

Hey Nessa, new fan question!

So I know lately you’ve been focusing alot more on this project from a character centric pov, but I wanted to ask you something more related to the story!

What would you say, based on these wonderful characters, is the theme/message of the Poten Project? If you were to tell this story to audiences, what message would you want them to get out of it?

Or is there no message at all quite yet and more so just meant for us to have a fun time with the world and characters? Because there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!

While its all for fun I do have themes i tend to gravitate towards I feel fit into tpp. I'll try to put some examples!

Friendship is pretty standard in theme in YA fiction but I think specifically growing up, finding your place, and the importance of having friends to help accomplish it.

Kinda the reason I knew I had to take the gang into college too. Asides from the change in status quo, growth doesn't end once you've become an adult. And many of the adults in their lives won't be at easy access like they were as high schoolers. So it important to for them to continue to cultivate their relationships with each other. anyway I love coming of age :)

I also think duty vs personal desires, and how far on goes in order to fulfill them. I think is a bigger theme in prime but still pretty prevalent here too.

Robyn competes following her own personal desires to know more and perfectionism with her duty of protecting ones she cares about. I.E. Leaving Ravenwood out of both fear of what she discovered and having the liberty to investigate on her own means. All while leaving the relationships she made there.

Self or inner understanding. (sorry this is my fault for not sharing writing haha.)

Which I think were the idea of the monster forms for characters like Lucas and Emilia came from. a means of externalizing emotions. Of course they can't get rid of their monster forms but can change through self-reflection and how it can make you grow.

There's definitely more but these were from the top of my head haha

• the lab gets destroyed right before they go to college 🙂‍↕️ the unnatural hunters associate will be in shambles.

• i think getting Emilia back disturbed the barrier between the human world and unnatural world and the lab not there to monitor it makes things in the human world more chaotic.

• itll also change the aspect of Robyns project considering that theres no lab or the organization shes use to. I feel like Robyns focus is on figuring out the change of status quo and how she wants to continue her goals.

•speaking of goals, Kenzie wouldn’t immediately so textiles/apparel as a major. I think she would feel pressured to do something practical as the eldest. Since shes done with cheer and monster hunting is something she does with her friends, i think its important she finds her own thing.

Random oc thoughts—

• Blake has a twin brother named Kaleb. They live separately :( (Blake in Union with their dad and Kaleb in San Francisco with their mom)

• Blake moved to Union around middle school.

• Lucas, Mark, Clar, and Kenzie have all been going to the schools since elementary. Mark and Kenzie since kindergarten, Lucas since 3rd grade, and Clarissa since 5th grade.

• ive scratched out Clarissa doing cheer in the past and being rivals with kenzie bc it doesnt really fit their characters anymore. I think like Kenzie as the mean girl the group ends up befriending. And i find the idea of Mark and Lucas becoming friends with clarissa through a co-ed softball time really cute.

• Maya, Robyns old roommate, also has a huge crush on Robyn. While feelings are complicated i think they still try to be friends.
