The novel "The City We Became" by N.K. Jemisin was published for the first time in 2020. It's the first book of the Great Cities series. It won the Locus and BSFA Awards.

Various people discover that they are the avatars of certain boroughs of New York while an artist discovers that he's the avatar of the entire city from the avatar of Sao Paulo. Some of them are attacked by shapeshifters and strange tendrils but manage to repel those attacks.

Manny, the avatar of Manhattan, is confronted by a mysterious woman but manages to defeat her thanks to the help of the avatar of Brooklyn. Various types of attacks follow, not always direct because in some cases, they exploit corruption and fascist groups.

Varie persone scoprono di essere gli avatar di alcuni distretti di New York mentre un artista scopre di essere l'avatar dell'intera città dall'avatar di San Paolo. Alcuni tra loro vengono attaccati da mutaforma e strani tentacoli ma riescono a respingere quelle aggressioni.

Manny, l'avatar di Manhattan, viene affrontato da una donna misteriosa ma riesce a sconfiggerla grazie all'aiuto dell'avatar di Brooklyn. Attacchi di vario tipo seguono, non sempre diretti perché in certi casi sfruttano corruzione e gruppi fascisti.

A confirmation has arrived that three Chinese taikonauts from the Shenzhou 18 mission reached the Chinese space station Tiangong with an automated docking maneuver. They blasted off about 6.5 hours earlier atop a Long March-2F rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. They form the 7th crew of the Chinese space station and will remain there for about six months, the standard duration for a mission.

The three taikonauts, as the Chinese call their astronauts, of the Shenzhou 18 mission are Ye Guangfu, Li Cong, and Li Guangsu.

È arrivata la conferma che tre taikonauti cinesi della missione Shenzhou 18 hanno raggiunto la stazione spaziale cinese Tiangong con una manovra di attracco automatizzata. Erano partiti circa sei ore e mezza prima su un razzo vettore Long March-2F dal Centro di lancio satelliti di Jiuquan. Costituiscono il settimo equipaggio della stazione spaziale cinese e vi rimarranno per circa sei mesi, la durata standard per una missione.

I tre taikonauti, come i cinesi chiamano i loro astronauti, della missione Shenzhou 18 sono Ye Guangfu, Li Cong e Li Guangsu.

The novel "FBI Code Red" by Lee Gimenez was published for the first time in 2017. It's part of the J.T. Ryan series.

J.T. Ryan hired Lisa Booth, a young detective who can assist him during his investigations. The opportunity arrives immediately, when FBI Assistant Director Erin Welch tasks him with gathering information on a possible money laundering case. The suspicion is confirmed when the two private detectives intercept the clandestine transport of a huge amount of money.

The traces connect the money to the Chinese embassy but it is practically impossible to follow them using normal means even for J.T. Ryan. His interference was noticed and the director of the FBI declares a Code Red that means that J.T. Ryan is placed on the terrorist list. The man turns to one of the very few people he trusts to prove his innocence.

L'occasione arriva subito, quando il vicedirettore dell'FBI Erin Welch lo incarica di raccogliere informazioni su un possibile caso di riciclaggio di denaro. Il sospetto viene confermato quando i due investigatori privati intercettano il trasporto clandestino di un'enorme quantità di soldi.

Le tracce collegano i soldi all'ambasciata cinese ma è praticamente impossibile seguirle usando mezzi normali perfino per J.T. Ryan. La sua interferenza è stata notata e il direttore dell'FBI dichiara un Codice Rosso the significa che J.T. Ryan viene inserito nella lista dei terroristi. L'uomo si rivolge a una delle pochissime persone di cui si fida per provare la sua innocenza.

An article published in the journal "Nature" reports the observation of very strong winds coming from the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy Cosmos-11142 which inhibited star formation within it. A team of researchers led by Professor Sirio Belli of the University of Bologna, Italy, used the James Webb Space Telescope to detect the movement of cold neutral gas pushed at such a speed that it swept away the gas in the galaxy and thus prevented the formation of new stars. This is the first evidence of how a supermassive black hole can have that effect on a galaxy.

Un articolo pubblicato sulla rivista "Nature" riporta l'osservazione di venti fortissimi provenienti dal buco nero supermassiccio al centro della galassia Cosmos-11142 che hanno inibito la formazione stellare al suo interno. Un team di ricercatori guidato dal professor Sirio Belli dell'Università di Bologna ha usato il telescopio spaziale James Webb per rilevare il movimento di gas neutro freddo spinto a una velocità tale da spazzare via il gas nella galassia e quindi a impedire la formazione di nuove stelle. Si tratta della prima prova di come un buco nero supermassiccio può avere quell'effetto su una galassia.

At the European Geophysical Union General Assembly held in Vienna last week, NASA's Juno mission principal investigator Scott Bolton illustrated some new discoveries offered by the Juno space probe, including some regarding Io, Jupiter's volcano-covered moon. Io was also studied by a team of researchers who used the ALMA radio telescope to map the movements of sulfur isotopes and reconstruct the tidal heating that generates the intense volcanic activity. The results were published in an article in the journal "Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets".

Alla European Geophysical Union General Assembly tenuta a Vienna nel corso della scorsa settimana l'investigatore principale della missione Juno della NASA, Scott Bolton, ha illustrato alcune nuove scoperte offerte dalla sonda spaziale Juno tra cui alcune riguardanti Io, la luna di Giove ricoperta di vulcani. Io è stata studiata anche da un team di ricercatori che ha usato il radiotelescopio ALMA per mappare i movimenti degli isotopi di zolfo e ricostruire il riscaldamento mareale che genera l'intensa attività vulcanica. I risultati sono stati pubblicati in un articolo sulla rivista "Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets".

The novel "In the Shadow" by Steve Ramirez was published for the first time in 2022. It's the second book in the S'orne Saga and follows "The Great Migration".

Bellona brought Keldiari to the village where other botari live despite various difficulties, including communication between the two women. The botari welcome Keldiari with relief and the rest of the community welcomes her while Bellona is viewed with suspicion and is practically segregated. Toshi tries to make her understand the situation and teach some botari knowledge but Bellona is very frustrated after everything that happened to her.

The capital city struggles to recover from the attack and the king must work to keep the heart of the kingdom going after the terrible human losses suffered. Princess Dorinda helps the orphans of the capital city and her fury seems uncontainable after some men steal the food intended for them by brutally beating her tutor.

I botari accolgono Keldiari con sollievo e il resto della comunità le dà il benvenuto mentre Bellona è guardata con sospetto ed è praticamente segregata. Toshi cerca di farle capire la situazione e di insegnare un po' di conoscenze dei botari ma Bellona è molto frustrata dopo tutto ciò che le è successo.

La capitale fatica a riprendersi dall'attacco s'orne e il re deve impegnarsi per far andare avanti il cuore del regno dopo le terribili perdite umane subite. La principessa Dorinda aiuta gli orfani della capitale e la sua furia sembra incontenibile dopo che degli uomini rubano il cibo destinato a loro picchiando brutalmente la tutrice.

An article published in the journal "Nature Astronomy" offers an explanation for the formation of the large and deep basin known as Sputnik Planitia on Pluto with its characteristic heart shape. A team of scientists coordinated by the Swiss University of Bern created computer simulations that indicate that the depression that is some kilometers deep could have been generated by an impact with an object with a diameter of around 700 kilometers that occurred at an oblique angle and was relatively slow. The results of these simulations also suggest that Pluto likely doesn't have a subsurface ocean of liquid water, unlike other studies.

Un team di scienziati coordinati dall'Università svizzera di Berna ha creato simulazioni al computer che indicano che la depressione profonda alcuni chilometri potrebbe essere stata generata da un impatto con un oggetto con un diametro attorno ai 700 chilometri che è avvenuto con un angolo obliquo ed è stato relativamente lento. I risultati di queste simulazioni suggeriscono anche che Plutone probabilmente non ha un oceano sotterraneo di acqua liquida, al contrario di altri studi.

Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart faces attempts to overthrow the British Republic. The attacks by forces seeking to undermine the power of the Party and the Leader are becoming more violent and the response must be resolute.

An article published in the journal "Astronomy and Astrophysics Letters" reports the identification of a stellar black hole with a mass estimated to be approximately 33 times the Sun's that was cataloged as Gaia BH3. A team of researchers used data collected by ESA's Gaia space probe to find this black hole in the Milky Way's halo, less than two thousand light-years from Earth. Its mass is remarkable for a stellar black hole and it has a companion, a very ancient star, as its age is estimated to be around 11 billion years.
