“I’m wearing faux fur cheetah coat from Depop, baby pink sweater, vintage butter yellow blouse, baby pink vintage circle skirt with a buttercup yellow poodle! Tying it all to together with baby blue tights, white mary janes from Amazon years ago, with oversized pearls, gold hoops, and one of my holy grail purses a vintage Vivienne Westwood pink leopard purse all from Depop! i still am always inspired by vintage fashion and strong color palettes and lately I have been pushing those parts of my style more. I feel i look like Frenchie in Grease if the movie was directed by John Waters, i love it!”

"unreflections" 16x20" oil on canvas // video id under the cut
video ID: clips of a person painting a landscape on a canvas. lots of bright colors are used and the resulting painting has an overall rainbow color scheme. the landscape is a pond with a bridge over it and a cell tower. as the person paints, text is displayed on the screen that reads:
painting my hallucinations! raw gesso makes the worst sound known to man so it must be destroyed. temperature is important to me in color, so i always do a grisaille with pthalo blue (dark/cool tones) and brunt umber (warm/mid tones). now we get sillayyyy. because i am on the psychotic spectrum, i see rainbows and ripples around everything all the time. i wanted to show what i saw through the lens of my artwork. this is kind of the point where i lost the plot and started chatting with my hallucinations telepathically while painting, but its cool. also, shoutout to my art teacher in high school for teaching me how to mix my own black and grays because paint is expensive. i got bored, so knife time. trees and foilage always look fiery to me. i also see patterns on top of things, like stripes and swirls. here it is! this will be sold at a charity auction for the Art Way San Antonio in collaboration with NAMI San Antonio. end video ID.

josh gates .. love him he produces such good hyperfixation/special interest material
Something I find nice about the expedition unknown series is that when they actually find something of archeological value, the host actually tells you where it's going and why. Like "It's now in XYZ museum in [country they found it] so it can be enjoyed by everyone" or "it's part of [project] and will be valuable to research"
He searches for some silly ass stuff sometimes, but he also does things like specifically mention he can't do things because of permitting and joining under other official teams and showcasing their hard work.

this is an unpopular take but actually yeah sometimes having low empathy does hurt people. it just doesn't mean that we're irredeemable monsters who need to be sterilized for the good of society.
sometimes low empathy makes people say unintentionally cold, mean, or downright cruel things
sometimes low empathy leads to a lack of care for others causing people to behave in hurtful ways intentionally
sometimes low empathy means that someone lacks understanding of why something is hurtful leading them to double down when confronted about it
sometimes low empathy makes attempts at offering sympathy clumsy and upsetting
sometimes low empathy can lead to attitudes about bullying such as "well I'm just telling [what I think is] the truth" without recognizing that certain comments can be hurtful even if you believe them to be true
while these actions are not acceptable or productive the big thing about them is that they can be learned from. not everyone can learn empathy- that's okay. everyone can learn to be a kinder, more considerate person.
denying that low empathy can lead to harmful behaviors does us no good. it erases many of us in favor of appearing respectable to the people who do not respect us.
yeah, I have low empathy. yeah, I have hurt people because of it- sometimes on purpose. I have learned from it. stop trying to make me the "wrong type of low empathy" or deny that the things I did were directly linked to my low empathy just because you think it makes you look bad. cool, you're perfect and your low empathy has never hurt someone but that's not true of many of us and you don't just get to throw us in the garbage can because we're inconvenient for your "low empathy hurts no one" narrative.

btw 'syscourse' and plural infighting isn't accomplishing anything. back in the late 90s and early 2000s, the only communities and resources for plurals that were widely available were for and by non-traumagenic systems. the only people who were advocating for normalizing and accepting plurality on a large scale were non-traumagenic systems. if you did research into plurality 10 - 15 years ago, most of the results that came up would have been experiences written by spiritual and natural plurals.
many people at the time were expressing their dislike of forcing every single plural to identify as if they had trauma- many found this insulting to themselves, and rightfully so! no one should be forced to identify in a way they don't agree with just to rightfully be a part of a community they already occupy. this obsession with "you can only be plural if you have trauma" has only come about extremely recently. i found out about plurality through the otherkin community. i was actually told about DID by someone in the spiritual plurality community. people don't seem to understand that most non-traumagenic systems have respect for traumagenic systems and don't gatekeep their spaces to prevent us from entering.
older plural spaces on the web like healthymultiplicity accepted all plurals. the goal of the community was to show that you can live as plural and not have it be a tragedy or something to "fix". if anything, folks with dissociative disorders owe a LOT to non-traumagenic systems for pushing to normalize plurality without implying that we HAVE to integrate our headmates and try to stop being plural. a huge part of the early online plural community was there to push that plurals can and do live happy lives and shouldn't view their plurality as a bad thing
it's not going to make singlet society see us in a better light. it's not going to get people to understand plurality better. it's not going to get us better mental health resources. it's not going to improve the quality of care for dissociative and traumagenic systems. all you're doing is bullying someone else that you don't understand simply because you don't agree with them.
you're not going to recover from your trauma or understand your own plurality better by denying the existence of other types of plurality. you're not "making the community safer" by gatekeeping. telling other people how their brains work is policing their identities. whether or not you want to accept it, if you forcefully kick endos out of plural spaces, you are the cop you claim to hate.
fighting with people on your own team will never net you a victory. to every other dissociative and traumagenic system: endos are on your side. you are wearing the same jersey. you are made of the same flesh and blood. enough. come together to share your similarities instead of fighting over differences. celebrate the diversity that plurality offers. don't take someone else's identity personally. someone can share the space with you without having to match exactly how you identify. diversity is what makes a community thrive.

What to do now? A guide for uncertain times:
Right now: do something other than social media or reading the news. Play a game, pick up a hobby, go for a walk, try a new recipe, ground yourself in something. Let your brain process everything by putting it on the back burner, let it percolate. Remember that you do have a voice, that the worst thing you can do is check out, that the most radical thing you can do is be kind.
Next few weeks: Keep working on the things that bring you joy. Make plans for the future. Assess where you are and where you want to be — physically, mentally, personally, geographically. Schedule doctor’s appointments. Delete your Twitter. Make new friends, connect with old ones, talk to your neighbors, join a community group. If you have a supportive family, talk to them too. Donate to the ACLU. By propping up others, teaching others, reassuring others, you help yourself too. Find a mutual aid group. Keep your head up. Love yourself and don’t wallow in despair. Remember that you do have a voice, that the worst thing you can do is check out, that the most radical thing you can do is be kind.
Next few months: execute on the plans for the future. Keep going with those hobbies. Keep loving yourself. Read reliable, fact-based news. Delete your Twitter (for real this time). Bake bread for your neighbor. Celebrate the holidays. Buy concert tickets as far out as you can, give yourself things to look forward to. Volunteer at a community center. Take a class. Teach others about how us queers and faggots are just people too. Remember that you do have a voice, that the worst thing you can do is check out, that the most radical thing you can do is be kind.
Next 6 months: Keep executing your plans. Write your representatives. Plant a little garden. Learn an instrument. Go to a zoo. Keep reading fact-based news (AP, Reuters, ProPublica, NPR even though it’s a bit biased to the left). Donate to the ACLU. When the sun comes out, get some bread, cheese, apples, and grapes, put them in a basket, go for a gay little picnic. Don’t make another Twitter account. Stock up on meds. Learn a new TTRPG. Pick up a fibrecraft. Remember that you do have a voice, that the worst thing you can do is check out, that the most radical thing you can do is be kind.
Next 4 years: make little baby steps to move towards your plans. Keep building relationships. Vote in local elections. Donate to the ACLU. Volunteer for state or national elections. Recognize that you live in a stupendously large country with assloads of diversity. Love yourself. Lift up other people. Remember that you do have a voice, that the worst thing you can do is check out, that the most radical thing you can do is be kind.
Shit is going to be really really rough for many many people. But if you’re reading this, you can’t give up, you can’t give in, you have to keep going. If you’re trans, if you’re queer, if you’re a freak and a faggot, you have to live.
Full disclaimer that I live in western Washington state, I’m white, I have a tremendous amount of privilege. I do my damndest to help people and use my own privilege to help others. I’m not perfect nor infallible, but reach out if you need something.
And if you’re still reading this, I love you.
