Hello, I know it's been awhile since I posted something about fanfiction, I hope this makes up for it.

Summary of fic: On the eve of the Italian Renaissance faire, Luigi confronts Mag about her decision to leave GeneCo and tries to convince her to change her mind. Mag refuses to go back on her choice but she does spend one last night with Luigi. After this night, Luigi becomes determined to change Mag's fate and makes a visit to his father in the process. Luckily for him, Rotti proposes an alternative solution, but it's one that changes the trajectory of Mag and Luigi's relationship in a way neither of them would've expected.

I have a feeling no one is gonna care about this but I often think about the reason why Rotti was so dead set on having Blind Mag’s eyes repossessed in Repo.

I’ve noticed that whenever fanfictions cover Mag’s repossession they often claim it’s because she can’t pay off the debt for her eyes, which makes sense because that the reason why most people in repo get their organs repossessed and it lines up with the original stage play reasoning for her getting her eyes repossessed.

However, from what I’ve seen of the little bit of media about the original stage play, Mag is also projected to be an independent traveling artist who, despite being super popular, is still struggling financially due to not making that much money from her gigs.

This is very different from the Mag we get in the movie who is backed by the largest corporation on earth and has gone on world tours. Now I’m not saying that it’s not possible for Mag to still be struggling financially, I wouldn’t put it past Rotti to steal not only her freedom but also her money.

However I will say it’s more likely that Rotti was dead set on repossessing Mag’s eyes as a form of control over her rather than for monetary purposes.
