What Every 20 Something Year Old Needs to Remember
As we all know, your 20′s is where we start to sort of figure out what we want to do in life. It’s confusing at times, stressful and even overwhelming. We’re use to being on a schedule ever since we were children from JK to College/University. You’ve graduated and now you don’t know what to do with all this free time. Travel? But with what money. Work full time in your field? But with what experience. It can be tough trying to figure out how you can contribute to society but I’m here to remind you some key points you need to remember when the go and gets tough.
1) Find your work/life balance that works for you.
As young professionals looking to pave our way into our respective career fields, a handful of us millennials have more than one job. According to Forbes, more than one third of working millennials have ‘side jobs’ which is great hustle and shows that we are more than willing to work for what we want but not having the work/life balance is questionable. We all need a break once in a while so don’t be afraid to tell yourself ‘hey I need take it easy’ to reset your mind and body. Shoot a couple of friends a text asking them out for lunch to catch up and talk about something other than work.
2) Listen to your body.
Ever catch yourself passing out on the subway? That’s your body letting you know that you’re exhausted. Be attentive to you needs and treat yourself to the smaller things in life we don’t get to enjoy as often when we’re so busy. A nice warm bath with the insert of a LUSH bath bomb, getting at least 7 hours of sleep, keeping active by joining a recreational league or going to the gym, eating well or even getting a manicure/pedicure. All of these suggestions are great ways to relax the body from long days of work.
3) Remember what you’ve accomplished.
Sometimes we tend to forget the accomplishments and milestones hurtled when something doesn’t go our way such as rejection from the job you thought you had in the bag. There’s been so many times where I just wanted to give up because of constant set-backs but remembering what I’ve accomplished at my age is something I’ve recognized and helps motivate me to continue to push to get to my goals. Our generation expects things to be laid out and handed to us but that’s not how it works. We’ve got to put in the work and results will come with that.
I’ve recently realized these three points are something I need to remember when I’m feeling defeated. I’m starting to consistently live by them as I used to be someone that would choose work over social gatherings and recognized it was unhealthy to take a break from work. When you get tunnel visioned and focused on your career aspirations, sometimes you forget about the people around you. It’s time to start being attentive to our needs and finding ways to relax.

How To Survive a Cold Football Game at the Opposing Teams Turf
The NYJ had one job and one job only and it was to Win and They’re In! They were in the hunt for a playoff spot but had one task: to beat the Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium. As you all know, Toronto is just a short hour and a half trip away from Buffalo so I couldn’t pass up the trip to seeing my team potentially making it to the playoffs after a grueling 5 year drought . After begging my two best friends for about a day to join me on the quest, I finally suckered them into supporting my team!
Luckily for those who have never watched their team play at an opposing teams stadium, you have me to thank as I will let you know the Do’s and Don’ts when road tripping to support your team at an away game. P.S YOU’RE WELCOME!!!!
Do’s: Bring a seat cover. Are you thinking Ralph Wilson Stadium has seating arrangements similar to MetLife or the Rogers Centre with plastic seats? Well you’re wrong. It’s freakin’ metal bleachers PEOPLE. My butt was freezing cold so I decided to stand up for the first 3 minutes of the game until I got heckled by the bills fans to sit down. I refused! A game staff found a solution for me which was to rip a piece of cardboard so I can sit on it. Did it fix the problem? Kind of not really. That’s why bringing a seat cover is key(shout out to DJ Khaled).
Don’ts: Do not wear your teams jersey, I REPEAT, DO NOT WEAR YOUR TEAMS JERSEY. I had no prior knowledge on how Bills fans act towards people that are not one of their own! I’ve learned first hand that I need to purchase a bills shirt to wear over my Jets jersey to stay undercover so when the Jets win I can take of my jersey and shove it in their face.
Do’s: Bring a thick layer of skin. I know you’re probably laughing at this point but I’m dead serious. Be prepared to get completely pooped on by Bills fans. They will call you all the names in the book. I had this couple call me ugly, a dirty whore, a shit jets fan, and hoping I died. I even got empties thrown at me along with peanut shells. It’s sad to see it happen and go through it because at the end of the day its just a game.
Don’ts: Do not bring props to the game. The first NFL game I ever went to was a Jets/Bills at MetLife Stadium in NJ. I received a flag upon my entry at the gate and have cherished it ever since. I brought it to Ralph Wilson Stadium and waved it around whenever the Jets got a first down and of course a TD. The couple that harassed me throughout the game had a little posy they came with. In that group, a women attempted to swipe my flag from me but of course I was too swiftly for her so her mission failed.
Do’s: Do a little research. Before purchasing tickets google or call Ralph Wilson Stadium and inquire about their supporter sections. This is crucial when supporting your team at an away game because you don’t know how these die hard fans will act when confronting you about being a fan of a team they despise. I made the crucial error of just choosing tickets based on the nice seats which inevitability left me surrounded by Bills fans.
Don’ts:  Don’t let mean fans effect your experience. These people will say every and anything to make you feel like poo. DON’T let that ruin your experience. DON’T feed into their hateful words by responding to them. Remember, this is your experience with your friends. Don’t let anyone take that away from you. Purchase an overpriced beer + sausage to relax and enjoy the game.

Why Do You Want To Work In America?
I haven’t been active with posting blogs on Tumblr since the Pan Am’s came to Toronto due to lack of effort on my part. BUT, I AM BACK.
As you’ve seen my passion for sports football on this blog and my career goal of becoming a Game Day and Events Coordinator (anything Game Operations/Events/Marketing) for the New York Jets, I’ve gotten a lot of questions on why I would like to work in the States. Here are 4 reasons to help ease your mind on understanding why I would pick America > Canada
1. Football is America’s sport. As a very driven and determined individual, I pride myself at being the best, especially in the field of my choice. Surprisingly enough, football originated in Toronto but took off in the U.S. If my desire is to work for a football team, its going to be a team in America were they rave harder over the sport than Canada. I want to be the best, working with the best which is ultimately working for an American football league. Why settle for less?
2. The fan base. I don’t know about you but I thought the NFL’s attempt to bring teams to the Rogers Centre was a showing of what Canadians really thought about the football and its not a whole lot. I want to enhance game days for guests/fans so I would much rather do that with a crazy fan base than a poor and unenthusiastic crowd. If I was passionate about hockey, that would be a different story. After-all hockey is Canada’s sport.
3. More opportunity. Who’s to say I won’t work for other professional leagues before landing my dream job with the New York Jets. Dreams take effort and I know I wont get it right away. You’re meant to work hard for it by gaining experience else where but still seeing the end goal. The only professional sports leagues in Canada consists of; one MLB and NBA team seven NHL teams, three MLS teams and nine CFL teams. Please do me a favour and goggle how many teams there are in the States and tell me if there are more opportunities there.
4. The environment. I’ve heard the most wild stories based in the U.S about fans selling their homes or even going behind their spouses back to purchase $30,000 tickets to the Superbowl. Based on a 2011 survey, 64% of U.S adults watch NFL football - I would personally enjoy living in an environment where more people live, eat, sleep football. It enlarges my passion and knowledge on the sport and lets face it, games across the border are a bit more rowdier and who can forget the hardcore tailgating that goes on in the morning?

Pretty funny video - chuckled at the play on words using Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s name.
The only thing that raised an eyebrow was that this video was to poke fun at females not understanding professional sports. The stereo type is hard to shake off considering there is a sample of women that pretend to understand what they’re talking about and say ignorant stuff pertaining to the sport to cause them to be taken as a joke.
There are men as well that don’t watch sports and bandwagon with specific teams or individuals that are on the winning side of the spectrum, pronounce names incorrectly or do not even know the correct rules to the specific sport.
The fact of the matter is men and woman should all be subject to that video that was created and not only women. Its a silly stereo type that I assure you will be shaken off after more working women start to invade the predominantly male industry.

Sometimes the glitz and glamour shown on TV is not reality. Never be envious of someone else’s riches because you never know what negativity comes with it and what they’re going through. Going ‘broke’ or financially stressed after a career in pro sports is the reality of the industry that not all are ready to take on such responsibilities.
This hour and some change document gives you staggering facts of professional sports players after retirement, what they did to blow their money and how they are moving forward with life after sports.
Enjoy!

Love seeing a photo of the Promo Teams hard work during seat drops. Took us 5 hrs for Game 1 and 3.5 hrs Game 2 - totally worth it. Interesting fact: The Toronto Raptors were the first team to start seat drops during the Playoffs against the Brooklyn Nets and the rest of the teams started to follow the trend.

Hope Geno can stay consistent this season and play exactly how he played against Miaimi on Week 17. Unreal numbers he put up. #InGenoWeTrust

Congratulations to Sarah Thomas for becoming NFLs first full time female official. Creating her presence in a predominantly male work environment is so inspiring to watch. Her persistence goes to show everyone that any dream you have is possible with hard work and determination. I love hearing stories like these because it gives me motivation and aspires me to continue to pursue a career in a male dominant industry.

TRADE ALERT This is exactly what we needed, a low key consistent vet QB. Texans trade Ryan Fitzpatrick to the NYJ for a late round pick. Cant be mad with this trade. Continue making these moves Bowles and Maccagnan! We like what were seeing this off-season. #RoadToThePlayoffs

THANK YOU JOHN IDZIK
Jesus Christ, theres been so many trades, releases and acquisitions going on during FA. The most eventful acquisition for me is of course retaining our old corner back Darrelle Revis. Jets signed Revis for a 5 year, 70M deal with 39M guaranteed all thanks to John Idzik. The man was was extremely stingy last season when it came to dropping bones for solid players hence our 4-12 record.
All Revis needed was that SB ring to solidify his NFL career and retire as a Jet… Which is completely fine with me because we need to solve our lack of CBs and were the making necessary steps to fill those holes.
Heard the Jets were expected to sign Cro which completely flabbergasts me because I don’t even understand why we got rid of the duo to begin with. Cro is familiar with Todd Bowles from being the DC for the Cardinals so Im sure it helps Cro make his decision much easier. The Jets made some pretty solid moves this off season and I’m really optimistic it will translate with their production on the field. #RoadToThePlayoffs

Chip Kelly Lining up his Ducks
I haven't made a blog post in quite sometime so I thought I would blog about what I woke up to after a glorious nap which is the Lesean Mccoy and Kiko Alonso trade.
Chip Kelly's got to have something up his sleeves after making another on of his big moves this off-season. Last off-season he got rid of one of Phillys superstars, Desean Jackson which completely flabbergasted the Eagle fan base because he came off of a career high of 1330 yard season with 9 touchdowns. This big trade has gotten heads twirling wondering why, why, why. Lets face it, Mccoy contributed a large portion of the Eagles running game. Lesean rushed for 1300 plus yards with 5 TDs - so whats the catch? Having another Duck player to help orchestrate a SB ring? That's pretty much the consensus of many fans and how they are accepting this trade. There must of been underlying reasons as to why this trade took everyone to surprise, even Mccoy.
I'm reminiscing about when he made it vocal that he was not a fan of Chip Kelly having practices on Saturdays, a day before games. He expressed his body was over worked and his legs couldn't handle the hard practices. Maybe they couldnt agree to restructuring his contract. Who knows? All I know is he'll be relied on heavily considering Rex looooves to run the ball.
A bit early to say, but it's looks like Eagles got the short end of the stick considering they traded for a player coming off of a ACL injury which ended his 2014 season. Who's to say he wont come back better than ever. Ex. Adrian Peterson, Jeremy Maclin, Darrelle Revis etc. Kiko came in second place for Defensive Rookie of the Year and was on the path to becoming a solid LB in the league. Lets hope he can be a solid pass rusher and bounce back from his injury. The best stories are when people doubt you and prove you them wrong.
FA is creeping up soon, Yippie!
