just finished What Lies in the Multiverse (for a second time)
and once again, this game has brought me to tears. even though ive already played it the experience of the game is just so good, and heck i might even play it again next week.
this game is genuinely my favourite game ever made and im probably going to write a mini essay on it. so yall can keep an eye out for that
will definitely be drawing a shit ton of fanart for it as well!!! like holy shit,,,,,
like just,,,,holy shit i cannot recommend this game enough to you guys. its genuinely upsetting because almost no one knows this game even exists!! its so worth every single penny you spend on it and more, its literally only 2$ on the switch right now cause its 80% off. if you havent already please go get this game, its on pc, xbox and all that as well!
the game takes around maybe 9 hours or less, its a platformer puzzle game or whatever u call it. i dont play games often to know words for it.
but the story is so captivating, and the art in it is just stunning. its main mechanic is one of my favourite tropes ever (the multiverse and AUs and all that) and it utilises the game mechanic to tell its story in ways most games dont. the show dont tell is amazing.
the music works so well in this game! each level has one song, but it changes slightly depending on what universe your in, and it has the same song somehow work in 2 vastly different environments.
and during cut scenes it gets you invested in these characters and their adventure! even when replaying the game i didnt skip over any dialogue because its just,,,so good,,, words cannot discribe
i can go on for ages about the characters and the story the game tells as well, but that’d include spoilers so i wont do it here. so i’ll have to write a mini essay on it or something later.
BUT YEAH!! this game is so fucking good, i cannot recommend it enough
TLDR: finished What Lies in the Multiverse a second time, its a very good game 10/10 (i dont say that lightly) if you dont already have the game i highly recommend you go get it

i saw a take not too long ago more or less saying that people judge Ayin more than Roland despite roland having done more bad things (or smth along those lines, dont recall exactly but it was about Roland doing more messed up things than Ayin yet viewed as better) which is kinda funny to me, because even if we were to say that Roland did more bad stuff (a subjective thing) that really doesnt matter Roland has a redemption arc, Ayin does not
it's just that simple, Ayin's story simply isn't about redemption, which is fine, but that makes Rolands actions seem far more sympathetic

Ppl didn't give centaurworld a fair chance. that's fine. but the scene where elktaur tries to drown himself alive was so hardcore and don't let them tell you otherwise.

Pokemon Crossbreeds: Schema (Part 2)
(Name from @mutsuowo)
Schema is the name for members of the Espurr line with members of the Eevee Line fathers. They get their name from it being a term for psychology and coding, referring to Eevee's multiple evolutions. (First post)
+Glaceon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Schema Meowstic crossed with Glaceon gain pointed patterns instead of the usual circular ones and lighter fur. This breed is rare since Espurr isn't usually found in colder climates. If you want your Schema Espurr to evolve into this version of Meowstic, take it to a cold climate and hope for the best.
+Leafeon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My personal favorite of the Schema Meowstic breed. This variant gains teal fur and the messy patched fluff that resembles Leafeon. This breed isn't uncommon, but it's still hard to get since most Schema Espurr that live in the forest will evolve to have Espeon traits instead of Leafeon.
+Jolteon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This variant gains staticy fur and spiked markings. Schema Espurr most often evolve into this breed during thunderstorms, but u wouldn't recommend purposely trying to get it because it can be dangerous. The breed's fur is more staticy and can give a small shock when touched, but nothing painful.
+Flareon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My second favorite of this variant! Meowstic crossed with Flareon are slightly bigger and a lot more fluffier with larger tails. They also gain flame-like patterns on their bodies. The breed is slightly warm to the touch and is very popular in the fashion industry due to how much they shed. Getting the breed is difficult though, unless your in extreme temperatures), since even if they're in hot weather, Schema Espurr will still most likely evolve into the Espeon variant.
+Vaporeon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meowstic crossed with Vaporeon going thinner tails more suited for swimming and whiskers that resemble the fins of Vaporeon, though they aren't actually find themselves. The breed is most commonly found near beaches. This breed appears in many Kalosian fairytale as mermaids. While they can do better in the water, they don't gain water typing and can't breathe underwater like Vaporeon can, so be wary if that when training them!
//My designs can be used by anyone if you credit me for the original design!

Pokemon Crossbreeds: Schema
(Name from @mutsuowo)
Schema is the name for members of the Espurr line with members of the Eevee Line fathers. They get their name from it being a term for psychology and coding, referring to Eevee's multiple evolutions.
Most commonly, the Espurr will evolve and have traits of Espeon, since it matches its DNA the most. But depending on the environment it evolved, it night have traits of the other Eeveelutions.
I can't show all of the Meowstic variants here, so I'll just show a couple and show the other ones in a different post. For this post, I did the 'mystical' ones.
Second Post!
Espurr
Tumblr media
Schema Espurr gain the patterns of Eevee and become fluffier around their neck and chest area. Their ears are more pointed and some can have trouble keeping them folded, which can make their psychic power peak out at rather inconvenient times.
(+Espeon)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most common evolution for Schema Meowstic. These Meowstic gain the whiskers, jewel, and eye color if Espeon. While not much changes with their behavior, they tend to be awake more during the day instead of the evening or night, basking in the Sun, which helps their psychic powers.
+Umbreon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second most common one. Schema Espurr that evolve at night will gain the traits of Umbreon. Their blue fur becomes darker and their white fur gains a yellow tint. Their markings also resemble the moon a bit more. While male Meowstic's eye remain mostly blue, sometimes their scerla will become red. They're more active at night but tend to be clingier to their trainers than average Meowstic.
+Sylveon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A showbreed! Meowstic that has high friendship will evolve with Sylveon traits, such as the bow and heart patters. Their fur also becomes a lighter color, and they tend to be more affectionate.

It is so interesting how they did the “blank slate protagonist” with Hajime because you could say the reason he didn’t seem to have anything particular about him like a backstory or hobbies was because when he was getting lobotomized to become Izuru, the surgeons took those traits of him away to make room for talent, so when his avatar was reuploaded into the Neo World program, all that was left was really his personality from what they were able to recoverrrrr wooooooow

Honestly, Hajime has so much chemistry with every character I do not care who people ship him with. He's the Ken Doll of Super Danganronpa.

No one can convince me that they didn’t “train” Hajime and Izuru like a dog during the lobotomy process.
Like a full eraser and rewire of someone’s mind and body doesn’t happen in one surgery, so during the process, they (for Hajime) would’ve conditioned him to expect surgery at certain times, expect tests at certain times, they probably took away any contact he had with the world and referred to him as Izuru Kamukura to try and speed up the process.
When it comes to Izuru after the final lobotomy, they would’ve had to “train” him even more. I mean, they now have a newborn with the abilities and strength of a god, who they’ve neglected to teach empathy or morals. If they wanted to do a test, and he said no, there was nothing they’d be able to do.
And of course they needed a way to keep track of their super-tool
That’s why my hyperfixated brain has decided that post-game Hajime/Izuru has one arm with a tattooed barcode, which if scanned, will show the entire process, including pre and post, and test results.
And that his other arm is scarred beyond belief with a mess of lichtenberg figures from his wrist to elbow from electrical shock. The scientists and doctors wouldn’t have been able to get remotely close to him if he didn’t want them to. So how better to control him than with a long-distance shock at the press of a button.
They weren’t going to bother teaching him how to feel things like regret, empathy, or morals, because a super weapon would be weakened by those. So they had to have control before he figured out everything and went off on his own and did whatever he wanted.
TLDR: The Hope Cultivation Plan was probably a lot more fucked up than we bother to think about. I could go on and on about this if asked (or not) to
(I do currently have a fic in process about this, of which I will shamelessly link when it’s done)

Something that has occurred to me, and something I will never get over, is how criminally underused Izuru Kamukura was in SDR2. Like how cool is it to find out that the true antagonist, the true mastermind, was your player character all along? You spend hours and hours as Hajime, and then you get the reveal at the end that it was him that plunged the class into the killing game, all for his own personal game!! And then Izuru only gets like TWO MINUTES of screen time and it drives me NUTS. So hear me out here: how cool would it have been if the program breaking down had resulted in Izuru’s personality taking over, and then instead of Junko, he gets to do the monologue, he gets to do the lore dump, and then he gets to see the effect despair has on his classmates. Cool, right? Now then, what if the rest of the survivors band together, they have Hope, and they want their friend back? So they each get a turn being the POV character, just briefly, so you can hear their inner conviction, and they can shoot the truth bullet of hope at Izuru, until his avatar is broken down and Enlightened Hajime gets to bust through! Fuckin sick right?? They created this awesome concept (which I could talk about forever) and then they were like “hmm idk here’s Junko again, and also we put Hajime in a wig for 2 minutes” and I’m SCREAMING because it could’ve been so much cooler 😤

i know everyone's harped on this to death but i love the gall Makoto had at the end of DR3 to restart HPA. can you imagine taking one look at Hajime's suffering and being like "actually fuck you still you heterochromic little freak. i'm bringing it back"

Honestly I think the Despair Side of DR3 would be infinitely more cohesive and meaningful and actually have a reason to exist if we spent like 99% of it in the reserve course, make the plot not how the goodbye despair cast falls into despair, but to make the tragedy of the reserves hit 20x harder. Fully flesh out Natsumi Sato and Hajime, but also introduce new Reserves, learn the class dynamic, learn more about what the reserve course demands, and give us only glimpses of the golden main course, make us want to reach out and do anything to get there as well, make us know what happens but want Hajime to accept the Izuru Project because it gets us closer to what we want, the talented, the elites, our favorite characters.
Have the plot be utterly chained to the mundane cruelty but make that it in itself the greatest cruelty because of how inescapable it was, make the Reserve building truly something of despair from the absurd banality of it all. Show us their bitterness, exhaustion, their pain, have them enviously seethe in rumors about the main course about how they dont have homework and they dont have to take classes, about how they get gourmet lunches while they have to bring lunches from home, how they shelter criminals and then treat them like they're the true criminals.
Then make Chiaki and Hajime's friendship being the One escape from it, especially as more and more of his peers succumb, the nice boy who shares his lunch is said to have been driven into debt. The loving couple split apart because one of them didn't score high enough on a grade and got expelled. The guards put the boy that sits in front of him in a hospital because he got lost and entered into a main course area and argued back about his right to be there. The class president gets withdrawn and mean after a tongue lashing for trying to do something kind and help. The only true anchor Hajime gets that doesn't get ripped away just a bit later is Chiaki as the Reserve Course is by design completely and utterly unstable, which further cements that need to get out. Chiaki is his one anchor he gets left with as everyone else says he doesn't deserve any anchor at all.
I just think the impact of The Parade and then mass suicide would be better if instead of just faceless blue people, they all had designs, personalities, quirks, if we got to understand and care for them as people, the Most Tragic Event never happens without the Reserve Course, they should be some of the most important characters, but they're mostly forgotten despite it being their riot and their protest and their suicide that fuels EVERYTHING, they should have been what got expanded on, and I know I talk endlessly about the untalented plight in this series but goddammit it's interesting! Give me more reserve course characters! Expand on the catalyst to the entire plot! Expand on your critique on how the school system handles people!
