Vicky grimaced, only imaging the pain of having to sit through the itch of prosthetics on a daily basis – she had once had to put a scar on her arm for just a two hour duration, and that was hard enough. “Ouch, that’s gotta be uncomfortable.” Suddenly, she felt bad for internally complaining about how long her hair and make-up appointments were. “Of course, I’d love to. The stuffiness in there seems to go away if you’ve got someone to keep you company,” she noted as she held the door open for her friend. “So, how’s Chicago treating you so far? Have you been before?”
Nikki wasn’t ever going to thank her in words, but she hoped that Victoria understood that she was grateful without an explicit declaration. She slipped into the trailer and was immediately bustled to an empty chair. “Nope. This is actually my first time outside of California in the United States. It’s nice, but it’s rather windy isn’t it? I think I prefer Los Angeles weather.”

Nikki was taken aback for a moment. Did people really do that? “Um, no Mr. Fowler. Someone asked me to bring you these pieces to restock?” Nikki was fairly certain the frazzled PA had mistaken her for an intern, but she wasn’t about to be upset about it. It’s not like she was particularly occupied, and with how she dressed it was an understandable mistake. “Is there anywhere you’d like them in particular?
“If you’re walking in here to tell me you also managed to wear your costume off set and wrecked it, I’m going to lose my shit.” Cash sighed, shaking his head as he continued to hand-stitch together a hole that had been torn in a dress needed for tonight’s shoot. “There’s only so many on-site repairs I can try – and believe it or not, clothes torn in the heat of random sexual escapades are not a breeze to fix.” The redhead carded a hand through his hair before tossing the needle onto the table in front of him and lifting his gaze to the individual that now stood in the doorway. “What can I do you for?”

“Don’t worry, it took me one and a half laps and a embarrassingly long conversation with a security guard to be able to find it here. Which is surprising, since I’ve had to come here almost like, every day this week,” Vicky admitted, laughing through her embarrassment. “I’m glad I’m not the only one who is getting lost, though; seems like the producers have got to create a better sort of navigational system besides that joke of a thing they call a ‘map’.” Victoria laughed, shaking her head in disbelief. “I still don’t understand how they do all of those prosthetics and dirt and grime. It’s incredible; does it feel weird to see scars on your body that don’t hurt?”
She shook her head. “No, I’ve got time – I just like to get done a little early so I’m not rushing over to set straight after. Want me to come in with you?” Although she considered herself relatively close to Nikki, she felt she hadn’t been able to spend much time with her as of recently.
“The thing that I had to get over was more that I wasn’t allowed to peel them off.” Nikki could still remember the very justified dressing down that she got the first time she absentmindedly scratched off a latex prosthetic. “If you wouldn’t mind, that would be lovely. Hair and makeup is always a drag when you’re on your own.” The special effects artists were great people to be sure, but they weren’t really the type of people where it would be appropriate to strike up a casual conversation.

⁽ ・✦・ ¨ – » Hailey hadn’t seen Nikki for a while. She considered her to be a close friend of hers. They met on set of a movie of Nikki’s. ❛ You know I won’t let you do anything stupid without my knowledge. You’re safe, Nikki! ❜ Hailey consulted Nikki.
“Ok, but you’re not allowed to laugh.” Nikki drew back and composed herself before confiding in Hailey. “So I might have ordered 20 pounds of hershey kisses online. I don’t even like hershey kisses. I barely like chocolate.” She broke out into nervous laughter. “It was only like $120 but I feel like my life is in a tail-spin.”

Victoria, with her hair freshly curled and make-up done to Zenith perfection, stepped out of the hair and make-up trailer to get a breath of fresh air. She would go to her death defending the fact that hair and make-up would always be tiring, no matter if she was just sitting in a chair for an hour or two. Spotting a familiar face, Vicky’s face lit up with a smile.
“It’s dizzying, isn’t it?” She responded, noting that Nikki was just as lost as she had been just a few hours earlier. “But you’ve found the right place. What kinds of scenes are you guys shooting today? Or are you not at liberty to give a gal a hint?”
“Excellent. I’ve been around the lot twice already.” The last things that Nikki wanted to be was late. Who know that looking like you lived in an apocalyptic world without any cosmetics required so many cosmetics. “The standard NDAs are in effect as always.” Nikki had never heard of a disclosure to someone else within the company ever being prosecuted, but you could never be too careful. “But really it’s more of the same themes. There’s going to be lots of dirt, lots of angst, and lots of fake blood.”
Nikki opened the door to the trailer and then looked back at Victoria. “Is your call time soon, or do you have a little bit of time to spare?” Asking Victoria to stay with her directly was a little bit embarrassing, but slanted suggestions were Nikki’s medium of choice regardless.

@hailcz
“Hailey,” Nikki groaned as she plopped her forehead onto her friend’s shoulder. Nikki was usually the picture of cool professionalism when it came to interacting with her co-workers, but Hailey was different. Nikki could let down the barrier of emotional distance around her because she was one of the few people that Nikki would truly consider a friend. It was good fortune that let them meet again. It was mediocre fortune that made it so that they interacting mostly among fellow cast and crew, but Nikki wasn’t about to let that get in the way of friendship. Nikki mumbled into Hailey’s shirt, “save me from hormones and bad decisions.”

JACE barely processed that someone was talking to him, his mind focused on getting his equipment set up before they started shooting. once he processed it, he looked up in annoyance. ❝ do i look like a tour guide to you? ❞ he spat, looking her up and down. she definitely wasn’t from his show – unless she was an extra or a guest star. he rolled his eyes and decided to give her a break, blaming colin for his newfound softness. ❝ you on lesliean or some other show? ❞
The stranger’s abruptness didn’t faze Nikki. Growing up in a cold household and shooting movies on location where everyone seemed to be hungover and covered in mosquito bites did a lot to desensitize a girl. She was fully prepared to offer a quick apology and quietly slip away when it seemed that he had a change of heart. “I’m on The Severance.” She still knew that she had to tread carefully though. As much as she didn’t want to be late to her call, a couple of minutes wouldn’t be worth burning bridges. “I can try to find my own way if you’re busy,” she offered tentatively.

nonomarino:
Noel had been having a harder time getting around Chicago than she’d anticipated she would. It seemed like just about everything she needed wasn’t where it was supposed to be (or where it logically would be) and that extended towards her utensils. Her work tools. She was, on the other hand, appreciative of the hotel and it’s commodities, as well as the lack of transportation necessary to get to the lot. At least the lack of its expense on her pockets. On one of her run-of-the-mill walks around to fetch her makeup case from wherever one of the roadies had thought it looked like it could belong, she spotted the slightly familiar girl. An actress, from the looks of her, although one would be hard pressed to tell the difference between some of the crew members and the actors.
“I think you walked past the right place, but I’m headed there right now,” she pointed out, brushing some hair behind her ear. “You’re not on my show, but we can get the right trailer for you in a minute. Suburbia? Lesliean?” she attempted to guess, signaling with her chin for the other girl to follow her.
“The Severance actually, and thank you so much for your help.” There was a part of Nikki that resented the implication that she was on Suburbia or Lesliean, though she carefully didn’t let it show. There wasn’t any need to sour relations with crew regardless. Too many actors underestimated the power they had to make life much more difficult. She supposed that while a dystopian young adult show wasn’t more high brow than a high school serial, the eternal student was a pigeon hole that she was desperately trying to climb out of. That was her own personal hang up though, best left internalized.
She trailed after the makeup artist at a bit of a distance before jogging a little to catch up again. “Would you happen to have a map of the lot here? My agent sent me a sketch but it hasn’t been particularly helpful.”

Nikki paced around with her head swiveling back from the walls to her phone, looking for any kind of identifying sign that could place her on the minimalist map that she had. Just when she had finally figured out the massive lot structure that Zenith studios usually occupied, the entire company transplanted itself to a new location for her to get lost in all over again. She never had the problem before, but then again, before she wasn’t involved in any kind of enterprise as sprawling as Zenith. While her searching ultimately didn’t succeed in finding a helpful sign, she did manage to find a familiar face. She approached at a pace that hopefully didn’t betray how desperate she was.
“Excuse me. I’m looking for hair and make up. Am I anywhere near the right place?”

Hello everyone! My name is Jen and I’m so excited to be joining you guys!
This is Nikki Parata, a transplant from New Zealand where she is much beloved as Nina White, the younger sister of totally dreamy Jacob White, and the 7th Spirit Warrior of the Wind. She’s really hoping that her role on the most definitely much more adult and gritty show of The Severance will help her shed that child actor history. I have a full bio for her up right here if you’re interested.
I’m kind of garbage at pre-set wanted connections, but it any of you want to plot, just drop this post a like, and I’ll definitely message you!
