hey sorry not to be an asshole but I saw someone say that a sports team posting about pride month was "pandering" and I need you to log off and touch grass because now more than EVER it's important that large institutions (and especially those that could easily be right wing like sports teams) show the fuck up for queer and trans people. especially trans people. so no it is not "pandering" to take a stand for a marginalized group of people that are currently under attack for trying to play sports. be so fucking for real

Help Walaa and Her Newborn Escape the Crisis in Gaza
Give a mother the chance to save her baby and rebuild a life of hope.
My name is Walaa, and Iâm reaching out in desperation to save my
familyâs future.
I am a psychologist from Gaza. Before the war, I had a fulfilling
career helping others heal. I hold a masterâs degree in psychology,
and I was proud of the life I was building. But everything changed
when the war began.
In a matter of days, I lost it all my job, my home, my savings, and my
sense of security. My husband and I have been displaced multiple
times, struggling to survive in unbearable conditions. We welcomed
our miracle baby born through IVF just one week before the war
started. She is now severely malnourished because we cannot
access proper food or care. Each day I look at her tiny, fragile body
and pray I wonât lose her.
I am not just asking for help I am pleading for the life of my child.
The war has taken everything from us, and we are left with no
resources, no income, and no stability. We need urgent support to
survive and escape to safety.
Your donation will directly help us:
⢠Secure safe and stable shelter for my family
⢠Buy emergency food, clean water, baby formula, and
hygiene supplies
⢠Pay for immediate medical treatment and nutrition
for my baby
⢠Cover the costs of traveling to a safer location where
we can rebuild
This campaign is not just about survival itâs about hope.
Hope that my baby will grow up in peace.
Hope that I can return to helping others.
Hope that war wonât define our story.
Please, if youâre reading this, take a moment to stand with us. Even
a small donation can make an enormous difference in our lives.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your compassion means
more than words can express.
With all my gratitude,
Walaa

Constantly reminded that even a lot of disabled people don't trust people with brain damage to think for ourselves and hold opinions, let alone abled people. Constantly reminded that even the most otherwise progressive people often think that it would be better if I had died and will happily tell me that. Constantly reminded that being visible both online and offline as someone with noticeable brain damage is a sure way to get myself dehumanised or worse. Well fuck you I'm doing it anyway
(This is about physical brain damage, including ABIs. No your autism/ADHD/PTSD/depression/etc. is not brain damage. Non-brain damaged people can reblog but don't add anything.)

disabled people who do not directly "contribute" to society and need large amounts of care and resources to survive deserve not only to survive but to have comfort, stability, and fun within their lives while they do. no compromises.

Hello my friends, how are you? We have been going through very difficult circumstances, as we could not find anything to eat for a whole day in the previous period, but thanks to your donations, we can still struggle to survive and we can buy a little food that keeps us from dying, but the conditions are very deplorable in Gaza. People are dying of hunger and are lying on the street due to the lack of food, and peopleâs bodies have become very exhausted and emaciated and are in a very sharp decline. Please, my friends, try to help us with all your energy. Share my post and donate to us as much as you can. Please, because my family and I are still alive, thanks to God and thanks to your donations.

Sometimes i feel like younger queer kids are getting a bit to bold with openly talking to people they donât know In The Context Of:
More than once i have had a younger/same age queer person come up to me in public settings and say something about âfinding other gaysâ or clearly clocking me as nonbinary and Iâm like :)))))))) hey buddy Iâm here with my conservative parents can you fucking not out me :))))))))
Just say you like my outfit or hair and move on, fuck even tell me you like my shoelaces. Donât call me gay and limp your wrist at me when you donât even know me? Especially when thereâs a bunch of ppl around?

me carrying a stuffed animal around while being disabled is not "infantilizing disability"
I am an actually disabled person who carries a stuffed animal as comfort bc disability is hard
what's "infantilizing disability" is assuming that just bc I carry a stuffed animal I'm not capable of making decisions for myself. or that having a stuffed animal makes me a less serious, adult person than you are.

Itâs clear that Iâm not communicating my point well, however itâs also clear that you are trying to put words into my mouth. I donât wish ill on Californians. I made that clear. Please stop. Iâm not saying that they deserve how apathetic people are being, my points werenât clear, I can see that. But donât purposely try to make it seem like Iâm saying they deserve apathy or whatâs happening.
I am literally begging people to understand that LA is not filled with ârich elitesâ. Itâs mostly filled with people just like me - people with extremely modest success in an industry theyâve probably been passionate about for their entire lives; people who work hard and grind every single day to have (or probably rent) a home in one of 2 cities the nation where their dreams even have a microscopic chance of becoming a reality. Actors whose names you wouldnât recognize, screenwriters who are writing pilots that donât get picked up, camera operators for mid tier reality shows, musicians who have had one song in the background of a commercial, makeup artists who get hired for a C-list celebrity red carpet appearance once in a while. Just ordinary fucking working people with dreams.
I donât think itâs likely anyone who follows me agrees with the fucked up shit Iâm reading atp, but as someone who lives in NYC for my career and could just as easily live in those neighborhoods in LA (and I have almost moved there many times), itâs so fucking difficult to read comments about ârich peopleâ and categorize the entire entertainment industry - which is largely comprised of exciting but otherwise average trade jobs - as âout of touch elites whose houses deserve to burnâ when it couldnât be farther from the truth. To wish such horrible things and have so little empathy to people just like me. For my peers, and my colleagues, and my friends. To be reading unfounded disdain about them (and again by extension me and everyone like me) everywhere, and to have the struggles of my industry be this misunderstood, have who we are generalized this much, have people laughing or not caring that these working people are losing their homes, losing their dreams, having everything theyâve made happen for themselves reduced to rubble... it is the absolute worst shit fathomable. It is fucking crushing to a degree I cannot even describe.

Hi, Iâm a leftist and I donât believe people deserve whatâs happening. And I said that several times. What I am saying is that (yes there were Californians who said unhinged shit about Appalachia and the South) and unfortunately vice versa. People in California are losing their homes and lives. I am however acknowledging that as regions that have been ignored for so long, weâve been telling them that being rich or from a certain place or any other reason doesnât make them exempt from the same things happening to them. I genuinely hope people who are affected get the help they need and deserve. But letâs not act like this kind of thing hasnât been an ongoing issue. Iâm not saying people from Appalachia or the South *should* be apathetic. Unfortunately with how things are going in this country, many people believe that all of LA is rich and it isnât. People lash out. Itâs not okay, but itâs something they must realize is happening.
I get that my original comment didnât convey my message the way I thought of in my head and I apologize that it seems like Iâm excusing that behavior, Iâm not. Like I said, it seems callous but people need to understand it can happen to them. I hope people get the help they need right now, and I know some good organizations and people are helping their community and Iâm grateful for that. Not to mention, some people that are considered rich have a lot of their net worth sunk into their home, if thatâs gone, then a lot of the wealth which may not actually be that much, is also gone. Even with their âwealthâ most of them are closer to poor people than actual billionaires. Even then, I donât believe billionaires should lose their homes in a fire or disasters, either. But again, people will find whatever reason to say people deserve whatâs happening even if that reason isnât true or makes no sense.
This is going to seem callous but please listen to what Iâm really saying. People say this about stuff that happens in Appalachia and the South all the time and have to beg people to be decent human beings and not tell people they deserve it for x reason. We shouted it from the rooftops during the freeze in Texas a few years ago and we said it during Hurricane Helene as entire towns were washed away, literally. Katrina survivors actually came out to say what was happening during Helene was reminding them too much of Katrina. Let that sink in. Weâve been warning yâall to not be like this. To not be apathetic. The worst part? A lot of people who talked like that about us are from California. I fully believe people affected by the wildfires right now deserve help. But I hope people remember that making fun of it isnât a good idea, because it can and will happen to you considering climate change, etc.
I believe that yâall deserve help, but if people from Appalachia and the South seem apathetic, itâs not because weâre awful people, but because during our worst times yâall treated us as less than dirt and now expect us to care when it happens to you. This isnât meant to hurt people when I say this, this is meant to make you realize that actions have consequences. Most people I know from my regions care about the wildfires. However, I also understand people where I live being apathetic to it. We begged and pleaded for yâall and got little to no sympathy. Canadians gave us more than many Californians. You cannot take and expect to receive when thereâs nothing left to give. You donât deserve whatâs happening and what people say, but neither did we.
However, if people would like to share this to spread awareness to how this affects everyone, and share resources for wildfire efforts, please do so.
