The Fate of Zane- THEORY

(Warning: Ninjago season 11 spoilers)

I was thinking about the new eps and s12 leaks, and while Zane dying is a possibility, another theory occurred to me.

I think Zane might live, but he will remain behind in the Never Realm. What if the ninja succeed in breaking the scroll’s “spell” or snap him out of whatever caused him to become the ice emperor, and when he realizes the suffering and pain he caused to the people of the realm, he’s overcome with guilt and he vows to make it right. The other ninja are ready to go home, but Zane chooses to remain behind as a protector, repairing the damage he helped create, or maybe the people even ask him to rule again once they see who he truly is, this time as a benevolent leader. This keeps the story from directly repeating s3’s conclusion, and echoes similar “villain” redemptions, like Yang staying behind to allow Cole to become human, and Garmadon going to and staying in the Cursed Realm (s4&5). And we know travel between realms is difficult, but not impossible, so it leaves the chance for Zane to appear again, permanently or periodically, in future seasons. While I don’t necessarily think this is a better conclusion than his death or self sacrifice, I do think it’s viable, and is in character for Zane, and leaves his return a possibility.

But honestly, I have no clue how this season will turn out... thoughts?
