"The thing is, you are not supposed to go back to the old you. You are supposed to build this new you that you have become. Understand this new person and draw out the positives." I have heard so many people talk about how they do not know how to go back to the old "me" due to an incidence. My opinion is if you were meant to remain as that old person, you would not have gone through the incidence. Whatever happened to you was to mould you into something new. So why worry about who you used to be. That person is gone. What you've got to do now is to learn and understand this new person you have become. Draw out the positives and use that to govern your life. I've been asking myself lots of questions lately. The constant one however is a question about happiness. Am I happy? Am I happy? Truth be told I have had some happy days, some not so happy days and just awful days. The interesting thing however is I always go to bed with a smile on my face and wake up with an even wider smile. Not because everything is going as planned but just because I make time to be happy each day. I find happiness in just opening my eyes, walking to my window and looking out at the people walking around - the joy of sight. I find happiness in stretching, failing badly in some yoga poses and knowing that not everyone has the luxury of moving their bodies - the joy of movement. I find happiness in going downstairs to the kitchen for my early morning healthy living ritual which involves hot water and some tongue burns - the joy of feeling. I find happiness in my nieces and nephews who sometimes drive me insane yet when they wrap their tiny arms around me and call me Aunn Naana, I know I belong. I find happiness in the texts and calls I get from friends and family who sometimes ask for too many favours but at the long run, I know they believe I can get it done that's why they ask. Overall, I won't say I am 💯 happy but I will say I find something to be happy about each day while I press forward and move towards my dreams.
