No empathy culture is getting fucking tired of being told that empathy is what makes people good or nice or that lacking empathy is what the issue with republicans is or that I should try to "just focus really hard" on feeling other people's emotions because I don't do it naturally (they say like I'm deficient in some important thing that I need to induce in order to be Good Enough™️ and not just a person who feels things differently)

low empathy culture is not really being sure where the line is between normal levels of empathy and high empathy because even the normal levels seem really high to you. my sibling recently told me about an instagram post that was a comic strip about a toy being sad and just talking about it (they weren't even looking at the post) made them tear up which to me seems like very high empathy because it's way more than the amount of empathy that i have but idk... is that just normal empathy? i genuinely can't tell. i know they have a lot more empathy than i do but i have no idea if they have the normal amount or if they have more than that.

It's not something that made me feel guilty or wathever, I feel what I feel, but it's a bit desapointing to be a "red flag", even if I didn't wanted to be friend with them so bad, we shared spaces on a daily basis and hoped we could get along.
