What if.... WHAT IF- This episode is secretly a Jamie Russo character development episode.

Like, TWWWOG's gotta keep Anais and Jamie's friendship relevant, like how Carwin and Penball are still mentioned, right?

So, what if Gumball nervously talked to Darwin about how he's rock-climbing the wall soon, but then they notice that Anais was eavesdropping on them, and she then says that she's got a friend that can help Gumball to overcome the wall. The brothers would be SO proud of her making a friend, since it's pretty hard for her to make one. After school, Anais leads her brothers to her friend's house, and once they get there, it took the boys a bit until they realized it's Jamie's house. They hoped that their sister made a mistake with the house, but Anais clarifies that Jamie IS her friend. 💫The boys were too stunned to speak.💫

Anyways, I'm REALLY hoping to see the brothers' reactions to Jamie being Anais's friend, Jamie mending past mistakes with Gumball and Darwin, and MAYBE learning a bit of Russo family lore...

This!! This is exactly how I feel about their friendship!

Anais and Jamie relationship!

So first of all this is Good Stuff. I’m very happy they are friends. But something I don’t think enough ppl fully acknowledge is that Jamie is 13 and Anais is 4. Like... that’s a full blown 9 year age difference. the age gap is more than double Anais’ age. That’s a big part of the reason I’m not totally comfy w ppl shipping them even tho they have a great dynamic. 

Anyway, one thing I really appreciate about The Buddy is that they’re actually, genuinely friends, even tho the show had set up a pattern by then of having of episodes where Anais thought she had found a friend and then it didn’t work out. But these two, despite their differences, just kinda naturally click, and they take things from each other/learn from each other without having to feel afraid to be themselves. Like, it’s ur classic brains v brawn pairing, but also just very wholesome and genuine.

They’re v supportive with each other and they stay friends. if people are mean to Anais, especially if it’s for being small or nerdy, they have to deal w Jamie, and if people make Jamie feel bad about herself, they have to deal with Anais, which may not sound like a big deal, but there’s something very uncomfortable about having a tiny genius angrily follow you around, especially when she starts psychoanalysing you in front of everyone. When Jamie sticks up for Anais, it’s your classic “say one more thing about my friend and I’ll punch your lights out!” but when Anais stands up for Jamie, it’s more “I think you feel the need to make her feel stupid due to your own low self esteem issues, which are magnified by the deep-seated fear of disappointing those you care about, which in turn likely stems from a fear of abandonment. Your parents are divorced, right? by the way, that isn’t your fault and never was. But anyhow, no matter how bad Jamie’s score was on that test, you still got a C+, and your dad is still going to ground you,” which, especially for a middle schooler, is absolutely terrifying in its own way.

Also they watch Daisy the Donkey together and Jamie pretends it’s just because sometimes you gotta do what your friend wants to do, but she secretly loves it. Anais is one of the first people she’s able to let her guard down around, and even though she doesn’t really want to be soft with most people, it is a nice break.
