Day 9
I’m a little over a week into my Day Zero Project goals and I haven’t exactly hit the ground running. On the first day I started two thirty day challenges, one a beginners squat challenge and the other being to floss every day for thirty days straight. I am still going strong with both of those, despite my back acting up and having a bad day. Beyond that I have not made too much progress towards my other goals. One of my goals is to go a whole day without saying anything negative seven times. I have tried that several days in a row now but it’s hard for me to judge if some things are negative or not. That goal is proving to be more difficult than I expected. One of my favorite goals on my list is to have 20 friends each recommend a book and read them all and I have been collecting those recommendations which is sort of progress.
I want to try to improve my handwriting and the only way to do that is to write more. I reached out on Reddit to try to find some pen pals. I have lined up a couple and have even received my first letter. My mood has been turning dark and the thought of opening that letter and writing a few of my own right now is a bit daunting.
I started this project off in a very positive mood but that has never stopped the depression from creeping in and this week was no different. This past week I have had two of the most difficult days I have had in a very long time but I’m trying to shake that off. One of the goals that I see as the least achievable is to lose weight. I decided on my way home from work today to buy some chicken even though money is tight so I can eat properly tomorrow, I’m sure wallowing in junk food isn’t doing my emotional state any favors. I’m hoping this will also kick start going thirty days without eating out.
I wish I had made more of an impact first week but this is only the start

Day 0
For far too long I have felt detached from life, like I had lost control of myself and my world around me. It’s time to change that. After a dear friend told me about the Day Zero Project it’s something that I’ve thought a lot about. I have come up with a list of 101 goals that I want to accomplish in the next 1001 days starting tomorrow, the 27th of November. This project feels like a good fit for me. I have always been the sort to make lists, and now I have a list that will be the rudder I so desperately need when the Depression and Anxiety become overwhelming. Consider this obsession to be a new form of self medication.
I am hoping to use this blog for multiple reasons. Primarily I want accountability for myself. I have a lot to do between today and August 23rd, 2020. I want to keep myself honest about my failings and recognize my achievements. A small part of me hopes to some day motivate someone else to take up this mantle as well. Once I finished the list of goals I want to accomplish I found it both daunting and inspiring.
I’m not alone on this journey. Two friends have come up with their own goal lists and we are all starting down this road together to support and help each other. I don’t really know what to expect with the coming months, either in terms of the goals or this blog, but I do know that we will have each other to help support us through until the end.
For far too long I have let myself be a slave to my Depression and Anxiety, accepting the feelings of worthlessness and inevitability.
I’m changing everything.
