So my laptop is fixed, I’m using it more. And I’m home from the week of hell aka my grandmothers funeral. So if anyone wants to write or catch up...or write...I’m here :D

Caroline smiled and looked at him. She was terrified that this was the last place she should be. This was some thing that if it went wrong would implode and she wasn’t sure that she was okay with that. Caroline had lost so much control recently and well she wasn’t willing to give anymore up.  

“Yea that sounds nice,” she spoke softly and smiled at him. “We can get ice cream later.” Caroline still enjoyed his company. 

“Hey.” Stefan immediately lifted his head up towards her, a smile on his lips. He didn’t seem insecure, even though inside he felt as if he was shivering from not exactly knowing how to go on from there. She was here. That was a start, right? “Let’s have a drink first, how about that? Or the ice cream I promised, anything you like.” he started slowly, watching her reaction nearly carefully.

Caroline stopped at the window watching him sitting at their table and took a deep breath. She was terrified, sighing and pulling on her big girl heels, she walked through. They had gone so far past screwed up, and right now she had to figure out how to tell him that they couldn’t do this. They’d missed their chance. 

“Hi.”

It wasn’t easy. Nothing was easy these days - part of him was sure that it wasn’t the timing yet, but then - they had been friends. And just because everything had been messed up, he couldn’t stay away. She had to know that he would always be there for her. No matter what.

As the time went by, he was sitting there, too early, too nervous for his own good.

right so I might not be here for a week tops. Between finals and my grandma going Code Red. I am a little swamped. Also taking care of a 14 year old while in college is the hardest thing in the world, and I hats off alternative students who are parents and do it well. :D

Caroline was apprehensive about dinner. She wasn’t sure now if being with him  was the smart thing to do. That being said she was staring at her reflection  trying to decide on an outfit.  Her text alert didn’t help.

      “Stefan I’ll be there.”

He wouldn’t give up on her. Or on anything, but it wasn’t easy to have no sign of her at all. They needed to talk and sort things out, and the time without any sign was the hardest. He’d rather have any argument, anything. As finally his phone gave him the relief of getting an answer, he couldn’t help but smile.

“Anything you like. Just get there.”

Caroline raised an eyebrow, he normally noticed when she was naked. “I am.” She said her lips forming a pout. Making an off hand  she’s for me for later.” She said leaning up to kiss him again. “You’re welcome to it later after lunch,” she said smiling.

Tears poured down her face. Caroline hadn’t run far, but she had covered her tracks.  Disappearing into the night was the smartest move.  Bringing her phone charger wasn’t. Sighing she stared at the blinking light. Stefan. He was understanding and kind. Caroline was hurt and week and just wanted a hug.  Picking up the phone she sighed. 

“Only you’re buying me ice cream.”

“Come back home.” Another message left on her phone, and he was tired of just calling or texting and not getting anything back in return. He understood her, and he would be the last to judge her actions. Stefan leaned back on the sofa, decided that it was time to make this running away stop. He opened a text message, typing in it:

Meet me tonight at the Grill. Please. I need to see you.

She smiled and swayed with him as they danced upon the dance floor smiling at her wonderful husband. “I am glad our children are happy,” she said smiling at him. “I wish that Cassia and Hope were as happy as you and I are,” she said gazing at her husband and smiled. “You know our children adore you right?” Caroline was always bemused that the man who had prided love on being a weakness for so long now had three loving children who looked up to him with great care. 

Klaus smiled as he held her close to his body. He would enjoy seeing Caroline’s son again, who he had come too feel like Mahir was his own son. “I look forward to seeing him.”

Caroline arched her neck backward so she could see what it looked like. Gasping she spun around keeping her self as close to Nik as she could. “Oh!, Niklaus, its beautiful, how did you?” she turned to look up at him and smiled. “I love it, and it will scandalize the kids.” She giggled leaning up to kiss her soon to be husband on the lips. 

Klaus pulled her closer to him, holding her naked body against him. “I’m done anyway.” He said softly to her, the painting was beautiful and perfect down to every last detail. He had perfected his ability to paint and draw centuries ago.
