Eleanor kicked him in the knee, still laying on the ground. She stood up, grabbing him by the back of the neck. Before Eleanor could continue her attempt to kill him, another vampire rammed into her from the left, causing her to hit a tree. It turned out to be Emmett, who was sent by Alice after she had one of her visions.

She glared, smirking to herself, “Oh, I definitely care about what you have to say.” She tightened her grip on his throat, even though she knew vampires didn’t need to breathe.

his eyes narrowed, icy glare only getting closer as the familiar feeling of ice coating his skin washed over him. the crystals forming as they pressed into her hand, the ice itself harder than the natural substance, making her marble hand creak as it forced her hand to loosen on his throat, not giving an option in the action. “don’t you ever touch me again,” he muttered, voice more a snarl than anything else, as his fist came into contact with her stomach, the force pushing her away from him as his lip curled in disgust. “or i will not hesitate to rip your head from your body.”

“What makes you think you can come out here?” Eleanor said, jumping down from a tree branch and approaching the young, attractive, golden-eyed vampire in the middle of the woods. “Especially on your own?”

his face was cold, blank, as he looked at the girl, no sign of emotion passing over his face beyond the single eyebrow that lifted at her words. “and what makes you think that you can tell me what to do?” he spoke, voice the embodiment of ice as his lip curled in disdain. “or that i care what you have to say at all?”

so it’s mentioned in the book that edward has to swallow wedding cake and what I wanna know is when he coughed it up. like when did he have time

I wish Renesmee Carlie really had been adopted because it would’ve made a hell of a lot more sense regarding Bella’s character. Imagine: 

Carlisle is working a shift at the hospital late one night, when a man (who is heavily intoxicated) stumbles in after a prim and proper little girl. 

The little girl - Carlie - is obviously very used to her father being drunk, and is used to having to step in and be the adult. As a result, she’s very mature for her age, and speaks with the cadence of a girl much older than herself. 

She checks her father into the hospital for stomach pain, going so far as to filling out his paperwork all by herself. The triage nurse takes note of how the little 7 year old is able to handle paperwork that even adults struggle with, and makes sure to let Carlisle know something’s up on the DL.

Carlisle makes sure the dad is sent off for chest x-rays, and while he’s gone, the doctor sits and has a conversation with the young girl. Normally, she’s very good at keeping the bruises hidden and her dad’s behavior a secret, but Carlisle can see she’s hurting. He’s so kind, and so gentle that she finds herself blurting out what’s been going on. 

She’s so relieved to finally say it out loud, and the kind doctor doesn’t blame her for what’s happened. She’s still terrified when Carlisle calls social services, and clings to his coat when the social worker shows up. 

Edward happens to be dropping by the hospital right then (He does this sometimes when the hospital isn’t too busy) and he sees this terrified, traumatized little girl. Her mind is pure and bright, and she’s so scared to go with the social worker. She’s heard what happens to little girls in foster homes. Why can’t she just stay with the nice doctor? 

It takes some convincing, and a little bit of money exchanging hands, but the social worker eventually files paperwork claiming Edward is Carlie’s long lost uncle who’s coming back into her life. Since he’s technically adopted himself, it isn’t that much of a stretch that he was separated from his family. 

Carlisle promises to get his foster license, and the social worker (who is now several tens of thousands of dollars richer) takes their leave under that promise, and the promise that Edward would fully adopt Carlie when he turned 18. 

Bella is surprised by how much she likes the little girl. She’s well past the gross, goo-covered stage, and is a relatively calm and complacent child. Carlie prefers books and reading to sports and being loud. Edward likes to joke that the little girl is a mini-Bella. She even looks like Bella’s actual daughter, almost as if the vampire had given birth to her herself. 

She relates to how the girl had to grow up quickly, how she had to learn to be the adult. With Renee, Bella had always had to be the mature one and make sure everything was handled. Carlie was the same. 

It takes Carlie a while to trust the Cullens. She spends the first few weeks glued to Carlisle’s side. Eventually, though, she opens up to everyone (particularly Bella, as Bella feels like an older sister or a mom). 

Carlisle makes sure that Carlie’s father goes to prison for abuse. 

When they finally adopt Carlie, Edward and Bella reveal the truth about what they are, and ask her if she still wants to stay with them, or if she wants to go somewhere else (all paid for, everything handled. No more bad homes for the little girl that they love so much). She throws her arms around Bella and Edward, so so happy that they actually want her around. 

When she turns 18, they offer her a choice: she can either turn and stay with them forever, or grow old and pass on to the next life. Bella wants her to turn, Edward wants her to stay human. She follows in her adopted mother’s footsteps, and joins the Cullens in eternity.

it’s been so long since i watched twilight, i forgot how awkward edward is throughout the whole thing.

edward is given this perfect, untouchable, like. charming description and reputation, when really he’s just hot and never talks

in reality, when he does open up, he’s the kind of guy to pause and stumble over his words. he backtracks and laughs when he’s nervous

imagine being jessica or angela or tyler or whoever, and the cullens finally sit with you. and the most elusive of them all is like. just an uncomfortable nerd.
