excuse me, i'm borrowing a work laptop and there's a wall to stop me from going to gaming sites. do you or anyone else have any suggestions to bypass the wall?
I would strongly recommend not trying to get around blocking rules on your work laptop because your work is almost certainly logging what happens on the laptop; if they check those logs at the very least you will no longer be allowed to borrow the laptop, and possibly you won't continue to have a work to borrow a laptop from.
Also, depending on how huge a deal anyone wants to make of this, it may be actually illegal to do this on someone else's computer (and even if they lent it to you, that is their computer, and what you are discussing is sometimes described as "unauthorized access" and is a no-shit crime; people also don't think that logging into an ex's email that they had the password to is a crime - it is. Don't do this shit)
You can do whatever you want on your own computer and your own network. If you are on somebody else's computer you have to follow their rules. This is annoying, but unless you are certain that you are good enough to do this in a way that will be completely undetectable to your employer, you shouldn't do this.
If you work someplace that provides you a computer for work, you should ONLY use that computer for work. Assume that your boss can see everything that you do on that work computer and act accordingly.
#it's fairly simple. don't use work computer for non work tasks#why would you risk losing your job over it?#last year my colleague in charge of tech was getting a bit worked up about someone on the wifi network using netflix#and I had to remind him that lunch breaks exist and that this was clearly happening during lunch hours on a cellphone#so yes they know what you do with computers they give you for work#just don't be stupid

Even in episode 6, Qimir slouches a lot when he approaches Osha. Which prior you might think is just a thing he does when he's in "disguise." But it has to be more than an old habit because he does hold himself very intentionally. He moves very slowly when he's "himself." This makes him seem less intimidating, and the caution he has around Osha is recurring. Like when he moves to touch her shoulder after killing Sol or when he looks at her before reaching for her hand in their final scene.

It’s truly mind boggling that some people use AI to make fanfics or fanarts… i thought the whole point of making them is because we’re obsessed with said media??? enough to voluntarily spend time and energy to write stories and draw artworks of them??? weird

- It's really dumb how (rich/elite/boomer) people are actually questioning this, so here's just a general poll; are you planning to have kids or have any right now?
(Also distinction between Biological and Adopted even though both are very valid because people are also talking about 'potential population collapse' which is affected by how many bio kids people are having... Which is all dumb but whatever here it is for those who care about the distinction)
#i would love to but look at the world we live in#our living situation is very precarious and my boyfriend has health issue and we have zero money#no way we can have a kid and gave them a good life#it would be way too selfish

When Everything Everywhere All at Once said “The only thing I do know is that we have to be kind. Please, be kind, especially when we don’t know what’s going on"
When the Good Place said “Why choose to be good every day when there is no guaranteed reward now or in the afterlife… I argue that we choose to be good because of our bonds with other people and our innate desire to treat them with dignity. Simply put, we are not in this alone.”
When Jean-Paul Sartre said ”‘Hell is other people’ is only one side of the coin. The other side, which no one seems to mention, is also ‘Heaven is each other’. Hell is separateness, uncommunicability, self-centeredness, lust for power, for riches, for fame. Heaven on the other hand is very simple, and very hard: caring about your fellow beings.“

"Close your eyes. Your eyes can deceive you. We must not trust them. Connect to the Force. Have faith. Think of diving into a great ocean. Give yourselves over to its weight, its stillness, its uncertainty. And tell me what comes into your mind."
I was thinking about the idea of fire and water in The Acolyte. Osha is haunted by the fire Mae started, burning their home - and to her initial belief - killing their family too.

As Master Sol leads the meditation session at the Temple in 1x01, he begins by telling the younglings: "Close your eyes. Your eyes can deceive you." Osha has been deceived herself by Master Sol's lie. It was not Mae who killed their coven, but Master Sol and the other Jedi. If she had seen him kill Mother Aniseya with her own eyes as Mae did, she would know.

Master Sol continues with: "Connect to the Force." Osha does try to connect to the Force throughout the season. In 1x01 on the prison transport, she attempts to and fails. In 1x04 on their trek through Khofar's forest, she senses the umbramoth. But it is not until she tries on Qimir's helmet at the end of 1x06 that she fully connects to the Force. The helmet blocks out all your senses, so it's just you and the Force.

Still, her eyes deceive her. She trusts what she sees in the vision and is wrong. It is not Mae who kills Master Sol, but herself. It's only once she connects with Mae in 1x08 that she learns the truth: "Sol killed our mother. I saw it with my own eyes. He's lied to you." And we do know that Osha and Mae are one in the Force. It's having faith in Mae that matters.

With the truth out, Mae asks what Osha wants. "Tell me what comes into your mind," Master Sol once prompted. "Let my sister go, and I will train with you," she responds. Osha decides to train with Qimir and returns to where she first began to open herself to the truth. In 1x06, it's outside the cave that Osha admits she didn't choose to leave the Order, but she failed. Notably, the ocean is present.

The ocean becomes symbolic of truth. While fire burns and hides, water cleanses and reveals. (See: Qimir's bath in 1x06.) Water is also rebirth. After the flames of her past, Osha ends the finale with the ocean. She knows the truth. Standing in front of the ocean is symbolic of this new chapter in her life. She's given herself over to its weight (to the dark side), its stillness (side by side with Qimir), and its uncertainty (the future is yet to be known).

Master Sol, however, cannot move on from the past. Death places him permanently in this moment and in a lie. While the truth is out, Vernestra covers it, blaming him for the Jedi deaths. As his body burns, he floats. Fire is symbolic of a lie, starting with the lie he told Osha as a child as her coven burned. So how fitting he has died on Brendok where it all began - burning before the truth can touch him. His own lie has become his fate.
