i dont even care about whether someone would categorize gamzee as "villain" or whatever you want to claim the oppositional framework is in a text that is About the narrative slotting you into place and refusing to let you budge on where it wants you so severely that even within the contexts of its continuations characters cannot escape the destiny that they spend all of homestuck trying to run from. but its just a weird phenomenon of treating one portion of child characters at the mercy of said narrative as children who make mistakes that align them with the goals of the society that rears them while treating another (who i guess we must pretend Just So Happen to be the child character which faces the brunt of the authors racial and sanist biases in their creation) as a fully fledged realized evildoer with adult motivations which we can completely divorce from their proximity to the primary protagonist whos entire deal is narrative coersion and control to the extent that, again, the continuations are entirely fixated on what the handing down of that kind of power and control does to the rest of the characters being intentionally left to its mercy via the New big bad. silly!

i can also acknowledge i am definitely not the target audience for bc given my thoughts on a hs continuation are that theyre always going to lack the kind of bite it needs on account of being made by people that are too fond of the source material to ever meaningfully engage with what so desperately needs to be addressed about its shortcomings in order to function under a modern gaze. that is the impression ive gotten from every team at least and that isnt to say people need to hate hs. i know this is clown town so of course i am clown oriented but i do very much mean it when i say how hs continuations deal with the gamzee of it all is vital given thats easily one of the characters most heavily steeped in the biases that created those contentious themes in the first place. and ofc the current team didnt write the um. less than stellar hs2 method of handling that character so im not placing blame but i am also not holding my breath.
