Condensed Matter Jester. This was a digital brainstorm for a painting I made. All the patterns are taken from condensed matter physics papers. Pose was taken from a jester statue

Been thinking a lot about Kirby Morgan dive helmets. I think they are utterly gorgeous, and would love to own one, alas, even used ones go for thousands. Drew one instead to satiate this desire temporarily. Full image and references and more rambling below the cut.
Very dronecore! I’ve come to realize that I’m very drawn to scuba diving because of the droneplay aspects of the gear—sleek or robotic looking suits, big buglike helmets and goggles, tubing, and respirators. Neoprene wetsuits are also such fun to wear, I adore the ones with bright striping for warding off sharks and other predators.

Here are some pictures of them I really love! The navy diver image is the first one that alerted me to their existence.

“Butterflies and Beamsplitters”

llustration I made for one of my favorite professors who taught me about laser cooling, which blew my mind. The glassware and lasers are inspired by the insane amount of optics he had in his lab. The body pattern is based off a graph he made in one of his papers.

Every time I explain my work, I have to catch myself and explain to the person that no, I do not wear the playboy bunny uniform to operate my machines. Though I wish I did sometimes!
Me, gripping my coworkers by the shoulders: No, not everyone knows what you mean when you say you wear a ‘bunnysuit’ at work. I promise most people’s first thought is GOING to be the playboy bunny suit. Not everyone works in a cleanroom. Please go outside

Lord keep me for the third time from abandoning all my academic pursuits to become a fighter pilot. Need to draw this
not enough people posting about the f35 helmets. these things are literal, peak sexy objects to me (at least ones that aren't bigger than a person).

THEY LOOK STRAIGHT OUT OF A VIDEO GAME !!!! They're nicknamed The Eye of G-d. they are custom built down to a pilot's heads's center of gravity and how much their Eyes like to Focus. they have a custom HUD in them. They can choose to rely entirely on the plane and blind themselves and use Only the helmet's screen display, in return for just that litttttle bit more optimization at killing you.
and the pilot is Entirely reliant on the plane to see, hear, breathe. Everything. If something were to happen the wreck would be so brutal you would never be able to tell where metal ended and flesh began. It's the ultimate pilot-plane dependency situation. it's so intimate.

“Silicontrivance”
A collage I made of various photos I took and drawings I made in my senior year, inspired by my time in my school’s nanofabrication facility. I wanted to make something to commemorate how special of an experience it was
From top left to bottom right:
TOP ROW
Objective lens of an ASML PAS5500 stepper
nMOS transistors my lab partners and I made
Waveguide entity + ASML alignment mark
MS Paint drawing of a dry etching tool I was trained on first
MIDDLE
ASML PAS5500 stepper + a wafer I made on it + a sketch of the SEM
Probe tips
Plasma porthole I drew
A scanning electron microscope (SEM) image I took
BOTTOM
Another wafer I made
My favorite JEOL SEM
Me in my bunnysuit with a vacuum chamber head
