She gave you a D because your collar isn't turned well, the top seems overwrought compared to the unfinished hem, that sleeve placket looks messy, you puckered the fabric into a crease at the sleeve, and the *whole thing needs pressing.* I didn't even get to see the other side.
Jacket ' s not done in this photo, buddy. That's why it's next to the sewing machine in the studio. I'm also 20, not a seamstress, and I study fashion design--not sewing. The point of a studio/technical skills class is to make sure I understand how garments are constructed, not to make sure I construct perfectly--because that will not be my job when I graduate, and if I could do so I wouldn't be in school. But thank you for your critique. I asked my teacher to show me how to sew just the back inserts and she literally couldn't do it--that's why I think my grade is bullshit. It's bullshit to expect me to do something you can't when I have less experience.
