Courage Is Contagious

This weekend over $500 was stolen from me. While I was working at a craft fair, someone hacked my EBT card and drained my funds of the money that I rely on to feed my kids. This all happened shortly after the account was funded by the state, so I lost the rollover money I was scrupulously budgeting from last month to use for grocery shopping today as well as all the money for the next 30 days.

Because of everything happening with the federal government, my food benefits will not be refunded. They are gone.

I am still in shock about what happened. Even through this injustice, I know I will be okay. There are food banks in Tacoma I can use in an emergency.

But that doesn’t change the fact that we live in the richest nation in the world, and the people we elected failed to protect a program like Food Stamps, which helps vulnerable people ensure their kids remain fed even when theft like this occurs.

We are the people of this nation, and our needs matter.

On Saturday, something else happened, too, and it was far more important. Over 5 million people showed up to protest, demonstrating that the voices of the people matter.

We will not back down from authoritarianism and greed.

Take heart, dear friends. Courage is contagious. And we will get through these difficult times together.

My name is Hazem Mohammed Albardawill. On October 11th 2023, my house was bombed by the Israeli army. I was taken to the hospital, where I lay in intensive care in a coma for days. When I woke up, I was told that my children and pregnant wife had all been martyred in the attack. I was the only survivor.

Now I am alone. I am without my family, and without a home. I live in a shelter that does not protect me from the weather- neither the heat nor the cold and rain. Everything has been taken from me in the most violent and horrifying way possible.

I sustained serious injuries from the attack on my home, but I do not have the funds necessary to treat them. In fact, I struggle to even provide myself with daily necessities like food and water. Your donation will go a long way to providing me not only with my basic needs, but with hope. You are my only lifeline.

TIME SENSITIVE: 12 DAYS TO HELP AHMED RAISE €40K

My friend Ahmed, a Palestinian father trapped in Gaza, messaged me yesterday anxious that with the current brutal extermination of North Gaza his family may be harmed at any moment.

Living in the middle of the zionist occupation's siege with his wife Maram and their three small children Habiba (4), Kareem (2), and Muhammad (1), he worries daily about the status of his GoFundMe campaign which is providing them with the funds to escape as soon as the border re-opens. If they do not finish the campaign by the time this happens, they will be trapped amidst brutal, seemingly endless bombing, shooting, starvation, and disease -- a genocide against their people, which threatens to take their lives.

You can help them survive it. Any donation, no matter how small, contributes to the completion of this fundraiser. However, given we only have 12 DAYS left in October and the campaign needs to be finished by NOVEMBER, we MUST raise €228 PER DAY until the 1st.

12 DAYS. €228 EACH DAY. This is doable if we spread the campaign to whoever can give, and if we give what we can. In order to kickstart this endeavor, I'll be donating €25. I hope to start a match chain that will cascade forward to €40k.

This leaves them at €37,295, meaning today's goal is only €203. If I can get 8-9 people to match my donation TODAY, we'll be on track!

Tumblr has restricted Hamdi's activity and he cannot use the messaging features.

Hamdi (@hamdigaza), a young man from Gaza who has lost the majority of his family in this war, including a niece that was born during the war, not yet one year old herself.

Only he, his sister, and their mother remain.

To make matters worse, he is now unable to reach out to others on here, his sole hope at survival.

Not only does Hamdi rely on donations for basic necessities, a recent development has made the need for donations even more urgent.

After the destruction of their home, Hamdi's sister's husband has been able to acquire new residence, but was paying in installments. Unfortunately, he has since been martyred. Now Hamdi's sister is being persistently asked to pay the next installment of €5,000.

I am hoping we can raise this sum for her as quickly as possible. It it difficult enough to worry about day-to-day necessities and survival, we need to take as much concerns off their plate as we can.

I have good news and bad news for you.

I am grateful and deeply thankful that some of my family members who need urgent medical care made it out of Gaza before the situation in Rafah gets complex.

Hopefully we will start their medication and the necessary surgeries for them.

You saved some of my family members.

Remember even if you only payed 1 $ you were part of this noble saving for innocent souls.

My brother (Yahya), his wife (Wafa) and their daughter aged one year (Najat) are safe now because of your help.

For Yahya's eyes condition we still need your support whether by donating or sharing the campaign so he can get the medical care required. That were the good news.

I am sad to tell you that Israel army invaded Rafah now. My other family members were displaced for 7th time!

I would like to emphasize the serious need for funds in Mahmoud Qassas' case. His brother in law has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and he needs medical attention RIGHT AWAY. For months they've been in tents unable to care for him properly and without regular access to the medical care he needs to survive but right now the Rafah invasion and the destruction of local hospitals has made it completely impossible to access. He is immunocompromised and even a minor illness can nearly kill him or even cause asphyxiation. They've had so many health scares with him and taking care of him in a tent with no medical equipment is a battle everyday.

Please help them get to Egypt so his brother in law can have the care he needs.
