I saw this totally unrelated Star Wars tweet and immediately thought of Tech. It says something like "there is a guy sitting on the bus with a huge fiery inscription AUTISM and a skeleton on his t-shirt"

A year after the TBB finale and I still haven't gotten over how they handled Tech's "death" (I refuse to accept it). I'm glad there are likeminded people in this fandom who feel the same. In the meantime, your writing is such a comfort! I will be reading it and re-reading it until LF decides to bring Tech back to us. #TechLives!!!
thank you so much anon <3 the techlives crowd have really kept me going, so a thanks to everyone making things about Tech, and to all of you reading and sharing it. It means the world to us!
Keep making, makers.

I mixed up this submission with the one next to it in the spreadsheet and almost wrote "toxic yuri" as the reason without questioning it

At the end of the day, killing off a character for a gut punch only works if you actually follow through emotionally, and S3 of TBB just didn't do that. I get it if other people think it did, but I won't ever be able to agree with that. We see no one find out. There's no memorial for Tech on Pabu or anywhere else, there's barely any mention of his impact on people. Nearly every mention of him was about how his skills were absent. It was a bad narrative beat of which no real use was even made except to focus on how it made things harder for them to do.
S3 remains a true disappointment to me, and I'm unlikely to ever be especially interested in it and its one billion dropped plot threads or the way Phee was tossed aside in favor of Ventress and how Tech's death wasn't engaged with in any meaningful way.
Will they ever walk it back and return him? I guess we'll see. It's happened before. (Echo, Gregor, Ahsoka, etc.) I have vague hope.

I apologize that I just now saw your note. The past few months have been difficult for me and I’m not online as much as I used to be. I’m just now checking all the messages and comments on my last post.
First of all, thank you so much for sending me the link to your story about Tech being the one to modify Luthen’s ship. I love love love that whole concept and story arc you put together. Not to mention that all the dialogue is perfection! I’ve loved and cherished so many of your Bad Batch stories so it means a lot that you wanted to share this link with me. Thank you.
If I may contribute some more fuel to your and @niobiumao3 ‘s -Luthen and Tech connection:
A long time ago, back around Sept 2023, I got thinking about how Huyang could have ended up traveling the Galaxy with Ahsoka. That led me to a what-if scenario where Tech could have been the one to repair him.
I had this idea of how Hondo could be searching the destroyed Jedi temple (after Order 66) for loot, when he stumbled across a damaged/non-working professor Huyang and instantly realized his value.
Anyway.. The short of it is he starts finding out that selling him won’t be safe or easy, so he instead contacts Luthen to make a deal. Luthen then contacts Mon, who contacts Bail, then Ahsoka- who goes through Rex to find Tech to fix him. My idea came from that line Huyang said; that he was nearly all original parts. I thought it would be so awesome and funny if the parts that weren’t original were the ones Tech had to replace.
Anyway, here’s my old post from September of 2023. So what do you think? ☺️

If Tech survived the fall, I have an idea on how this could affect the bigger story in an interesting way:
Ok hear me out.
What if Tech actually survived somehow and this will be shown in a later story. Tech and Echo are off helping the rebellion in the epilogue. Because..
What if .. Tech is the one to decrypt the Death Star Plans?
I mean do you honestly think they would have those plans on a disc that you could stick into a computer and just see them, or would you need an expert splicer to get into that thing? Also, the epilogue of season 3 is close to the timeline of Rogue One, so the timeline fits.
Soooo.. wouldn’t it be epic to know that after the plans are handed off to Mon Mothma from Leia, they call in a favor from an old retired clone -turned partner to the liberator of ancient wonders and fulcrum’s main splicer- to unlock the Death Star secrets for the rebellion?
Maybe it was Tech, Echo, or possibly even Hera, (since she and Chopper were already on the base during Rogue One), that sent Omega a message that the Rebellion needs more pilots; especially after seeing what the Death Star is capable of. Omega grabbed Tech’s old goggles because she is heading off to meet them all at Yavin IV at the end of S3 (the epilogue).
Bring him back Disney! I miss him 😭

I distinctly remember the first time I watched "Spoils of War/Ruins of War" (the day the episodes aired) and we got to this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
... and my first thought literally was a surprised "Huh, wonder why they focused on Tech here. I'd have thought they'd linger on Romar. 🤔🤷‍♀️" It just seemed like such an odd choice at the time.
Fast forward to now, post-"Plan 99," and this scene is one of the top reasons why I firmly believe the writers always intended to bring Tech back (even if they didn't end up doing so in this show).
I mean, really, why else would the directors/writers make the conscious decision to have Romar matter-of-factly talk about survival and then keep the focus on Tech here, instead of Romar?? It's not like, in-universe, Tech needed to learn that he's also a survivor like Romar - Tech is already self-confident enough to know that about himself already; and if the point of the scene is that Tech has discovered more common ground with Romar, that just reiterates that Tech already knows he's a survivor. So obviously the message was for us as the audience. The fact that this comes after two episodes of the show proving beyond any doubt that Tech is a WARRIOR, not "just" the brains of the team, and has him fight through and survive insane situations while injured, hammers home the link for us between "Tech" and "surviving."
But what about "subversion of expectations," you may ask? What if the point of this scene (not to mention the events of "Faster" and "The Crossing," just to name a few others) was to build up the expectation that Tech IS indeed a survivor against all odds, all for the sake of highlighting the bitter irony that Tech is the one who ultimately doesn't survive?
To that I say: "subversion of expectations" really only works well if the expectation is proven completely wrong. So long as there is any room for doubt as to a given outcome, the subversion can't stick. If the writers intended for the "survivor" angle to ultimately just be a misdirect and a cruel irony, they needed to follow through and prove well beyond ANY reasonable doubt that Tech actually died. (That means things like a body or a reliable witness (not a villain with ulterior motives); not to mention things like not having even the villain "witness" be deliberately vague about the issue, and not using the supposedly dead character as one potential red herring for the identity of a new unknown character.) And since the writers very much did NOT take the time to irrefutably confirm Tech's death, I cannot read the above scene as subversive foreshadowing. Rather, I still read it as a major hint that the writers wanted Tech to survive - or, bare minimum, wanted to leave the potential open for his return.
So, whenever I need a bit of hope that Tech is still alive out there somewhere, I just revisit this scene and remember that Tech, too, is a survivor ❤️❤️❤️

Have some clone cadet shenanigans/
They are at that age where Hunter's hair is getting just long enough to get in his face. He was given a bandana to pull his hair back, and he just never stopped wearing it.
I've really been loving drawing them as cadets, so if anyone has some good clone cadet fics, please send them my way! <3
