McLennon Fun Facts #1
"I Don’t Know (Johnny, Johnny)" is an unreleased demo from John Lennon and Paul McCartney, likely recorded around April 1960 at Paul’s house on Forthlin Road in Liverpool. It’s an informal, partly improvised blues/jam number not included on any official Beatles releases.
The track features both John and Paul on vocals and guitars, with George Harrison and Stuart Sutcliffe joining in on guitar and bass, respectively. The lyrics are fragmentary and playful—lines like “Time don’t wait when I’m callin’ you, Johnny boy” and “Please Johnny, won’t you tell me…” point to a loose narrative, built more on mood than structure.

"I Want to Hold Your Hand' is not about Jane, but it was certainly written when I was with her. To tell you the truth, I think we were writing more to a general audience. I may have been drawing on my experience with a person I was in love with at the time, and sometimes it was very specific—but mostly we were writing to the world."
-Paul, The Lyrics (2021)
