"New Yorkers bite more people than sharks annually" is an excellent example of how statistics can be misleading. Like yeah no shit, do you have any idea how rare it is to even encounter a shark in the wild? They're not exactly urban animals. I'm pretty damn sure that if sharks were living in big cities like pigeons, just strolling down the streets looking for food scraps, you'd see a lot more news stories about New Yorkers biting them.

The thing you gotta understand about Mr. Terrific in the new Superman movie is that he is always the smartest man in the room.

And he HATES it.

It's not that he hates being smart, he just hates how he can never quite predict how dumb everyone else is.

I think my biggest goal in life is to never be the type of person that a service industry worker goes home and complains about. in fact, I want to be remembered as the cool customer who gave the good tip or told the joke or helped out. to be honest, I think not yelling at low level employees just doing their job should be a basic benchmark of human decency. be nice to your service industry workers everyone

Been getting really into orange juice lately

did you know? you can cut off the top and bottom of an artichoke and snip off the pointy little leaf tips and then you can squeeze half a lemon over it and let the juice get all in between the leaves. and then you can put it in a covered dish and microwave it for 8-9 minutes. less than 10 minutes, steamed artichoke in front of you! and after that you can melt some of your best butter, toss a little sprig of rosemary in there! and you can dip the artichoke in the butter. 1 artichoke, 10 minutes of prep, a little butter, and you have a decadent experience! it could be a Monday night and you can scrape the artichoke flesh off with your teeth! lemon and butter and rosemary! no one is stopping you. life could be a dream. I got an artichoke for $3 and the lemon for less. it's been hours now and I'm still riding that high.
