@anonvale
Do y'all ever read a fic so good that it makes you want to elevate your own craft and also befriend the writer? It's almost like, "Hi! You write so well that you've inspired me to embark on a creative training arc. Also, can I yell about the character in your dms because you get it?"

i love fics where tony and peter admit they see each other father-son. and its all fluffy and sweet and nothing hurts.
i love when it's angsty. when its a last minute confession because they think they may never have another chance. when they're trying to make things right, etc.
and now i want it MESSY.
i want misunderstandings, refusal to be fully honest with each other, i want almost-confessions, i want everyone around them to know and be powerless to do anything bc unless peter hears it from tony and says directly TO him "you're my son" it means nothing. and until tony hears peter say "I want you as my dad" tony isnt going to risk it, he will have to be happy being his mentor.
i need it messy. i need passive-agressive comments and arguments and accusations bc peter knows tony thinks of him as a son, but doesn't understand why the man won't just tell him. i need tony begging on his knees for pepper to just please for the love of god tel him why peter is being like this and tell him what to.
sorry if this makes no sense. anyway, i've got 16k written

Tony is convinced that Peter has some sort of seventh sense when it comes to freshly dried laundry.
Because somehow, every time Peter is with him at home and Tony brings a fresh basket of laundry into his bedroom and puts it on the bed to fold it (because yes, Tony Stark DOES do his own laundry, thank you very much. Pepper basically makes him do it because shes always worrying about him getting “out of touch” with reality) Peter appears in the doorway less than a minute later and asks “are you folding laundry?” While eyeing the pile of fresh linens with a poorly disguised glimmer of hope in his eyes.
Tony will nod, and Peter asks something like “can I help?” Tony nods again. Peter grins all innocent like and scurries over to the bed before climbing up and burying himself in the pile of warm clothes.
“Why do you do this?” Tony asks, picking a t shirt from off of Peter’s head and starting to fold it. “It’s warm,” Peter replies casually, plucking a hoodie out of the pile and wrapping it around himself.
Every. Single. Time. Without a doubt. It’s like clockwork, laundry out, Peter appears. Tony’s started to count the seconds between the time he unloads the dryer to the time the kid shows up. The record is seven seconds.

Tony and Peter work as the chaotic parent and calmer, smart child dynamic pretty well I daresay. My argument is strengthened when you remember that Peter keeps his identity a secret to protect his family, and Tony doxxes himself to terrorist groups.

Tony texting Peter "IN THE LAB. RIGHT NOW. SOS. AHHHHHH" And then asking a frazzled Peter to "Pretty please with a cherry on top" hand him his screw driver because he didn't want to move from his chair and get it himself is like, his equivalent to other dads calling their kids to give them a TV remote less then two feet away from them.
