“That, er, shouldn’t be necessary.” Len assured her, “Just ask me questions whenever you want to. I mean, it’s not like I’ll ever be going anywhere.” While he didn’t expect Meiko would ever have bad intentions, he couldn’t imagine her being all that accommodating either.

Len’s eyes widened slightly when Luka’s hand met with his. Of course he trusted Luka, but it still made him feel a little strange to be touched. However, his attention quickly shifted to her kind words and his slight embarrassment from them. He didn’t expect such a genuine response. “Oh,” He paused for a moment before giving a reply, “Ah, you don’t owe me - or anyone else - anything, Luka. Your occasional company is thanks enough. Besides, it’s nice to think that I’m helping you out.”

        “There are so many questions I wish to ask, but I don’t know where to start– I’m beginning to feel a tad overwhelmed.” Luka exhaled, “I guess if I ever want answers, I can always come to you. Unless you’re busy, then I could find Miss Meiko! Although sometimes I find her advice to be difficult to understand…“

      She flashes a gentle smile as she takes Lens hand, “You are such an important and dear friend, I don’t know what I would do without you. I wish there was someway to return the favor but all I can give is my thanks for now.”

“Yes, er, thank you.” He replied a little awkwardly. It might be a good thing to expand his knowledge of androids outside of just Crypton. After all, they’d probably have much more freedom.

Her question took him off-guard yet again and he wearily looked down to see their hands still interlocked. Was it naive to expect a handshake to be just a handshake?

“Ah...”

Len wasn’t a huge fan of extended periods of physical contact, and he stalled to think of an excuse. He didn’t want get too defensive when Tei was doing him a favor, but didn’t feel obligated to continue to hold her hand either. “That’s alright,” He said, “I mean, it’s not like I’m not going to get lost, so you don’t have to do that, aha...” His reasoning was weak, but he hoped it’d be enough for her to take a hint regardless. After replying, he began to pull his hand away from hers.

Their small embrace was much warmer than she had ever imagined it to be.  His hand in her’s felt perfect.  In truth, it was already so overwhelming for Tei to be within Len’s line of vision alone.  For the VIPPERLOID to finally be offered the chance to hold a part of her beloved in a reluctantly reciprocated gesture was stimulating, amazing, and astonishing.

“I will make sure to give you the grand tour,” Tei promised with a warm smile.

The time had come to begin casting aside endless complexities and provide Len the opportunity of seeing one of CRYPTON’s greatest rivals and competitors… All thanks to her.

“May I hold your hand as we walk?”

Len was sitting alone, lost in thought about what ice cream to get, as well as some other things. However, he lifted his head up upon hearing a voice, and was greeted with a face much similar to his own, along with a chocolate ice cream cone. “Ah, t-thank you!” He replied quickly, caught off-guard by the sudden gesture of kindness. He recomposed himself and accepted the cone she had handed him as he let out a smile. “Of course I don’t mind.”

“Ha, I guess just staring at all the ice cream instead of ordering was too obvious...” At least the decision was now made for him. “Ah, the flavor?” He always felt a little embarrassed whenever someone brought up how he liked bananas (probably because it was true), but considering who mentioned it, he didn’t take any offense. “That’s certainly no problem! It’s a pretty rare ice cream flavor.” He let out a small laugh.

“Really though, you didn’t have to do that for me...” For that matter, she didn’t have to sit with him either. It wasn’t that he didn’t enjoy the company, but he didn’t want end up wasting her time. With that being said, he figured he would make the best he could out of it. “So, how are you?” He asked. It was a broad question, but he felt fine to listen to however much - or little - the other wished to share as an answer.

Even with September finally making its arrival, weather had yet to start dropping in temperature and Rin had long ago gotten tired of the smothering heat. Sick, she was, of sweating and of hair sticking to her face like glue from humidity! And this weekend showed no signs of pity for her. Original plans to go shopping had been immediately scrapped in favor of paying a visit to the local ice cream shop the second she stepped foot out of her apartment.

And it seemed she hadn’t been the only one with the idea to enjoy a frozen treat on this warm afternoon. A face deemed all too familiar to her had been almost immediately spotted at the table nearby and it wasn’t long before she took it upon herself to slide into the empty seat in front of the male with an extra ice cream cone held out in offer.

“Do you mind if I keep you company for a while? Consider this my treat as long as you agree!” Comment was only partially a joke. “I hope you like chocolate. I know the usual flavor would be banana assuming you’re like most Len modules but… It wasn’t an option available here.”

“Yes!  That would be my name,” she giggled.

Apparently her wishful thinking had been wrong.  Len’s seemingly perplexed expression with his wide blue eyes boring into hers was enough for such disappointing message to come across.

No matter, though.  She was adjusted to the uncertainty and hesitance that came with speaking to Len(s), the modules she admired, stalked, and craved for above anything else. 

Hell she enjoyed the confusion and potential disgust that had been swayed her way many times over.  In spite of the pain that rejection plagued Tei’s system, it was absolutely worth it for her to fall deeper and deeper in this self destructive adoration that had manifested since creation.

Tei offered a warm smile and an open reaching hand.  “Do you need someone to help you find your way around VIPPER HQ?”  She curiously questioned.

“I’m always willing to help you dear dear Len-kun.”

"Ah... Right." He said in response to correctly recalling her name. It was a bit embarrassing, and would probably come off as elitist, but he didn't remember anything about her besides her name and that she was an utauloid. He watched hesitantly as she just continued smiling, and tried to force a happy expression onto his own face.

Being a robot aside, he couldn't imagine his smile looked all that genuine. However, Tei didn't seem too concerned, or perhaps just didn't really mind, as she went on to ask him a question.

Len rubbed the back of his neck as he began to reply, "I mean, I suppose I do." He had only wandered here after leaving the Crypton building, and once he found himself in front of the place, he was a little curious to see what it might be like for an utauloid.

So, he accepted her outstretched hand into his own with the intentions of a handshake. However, once he heard the way he had been addressed, Len felt that maybe this was a bad idea after all. Still, he tried his best to keep his awkward smile intact, at least for now.

        “Mmm you’re right; it would be foolish to try and raise a child while I can barely act like an adult. I may be in this body, but there are things that younger humans know that I do not.” Luka let out a sigh, if only she was given more data to rely on– life in this world would have been much easier, “I apologize if I bother you with all these questions, Len…how is it that you know so much? You have been alive longer than I, but is there a secret?”

"Ah, hmmm..." He may have learned a lot doing things his way, but he was rather conflicted on what kind of advice to give Luka. "Don’t worry about that. Your questions don't bother me at all. I'm actually honored that you've put your trust in my answers." Perhaps it was more so dumb luck that it ended up this way, rather than Len himself standing out to Luka, but he didn't like to imagine someone with ill intentions giving her advice in his stead. 

"Observing helps. You have to be careful what you say to people, because you are still a public figure... But if someone is taking advantage of you, you can’t just enable them to do that, because then it’ll keep happening over and over.” He paused, realizing he may have been getting off topic. “What I mean is, there are definitely things I wish somebody told me instead of having to figure them out myself. Don’t be afraid to ask me anything, Luka.”

“Have you been finding everything okay, Len-kun?”

She snuck up behind him when he appeared the most distracted.  A few quick strides were all Tei needed to swiftly block his path.  Her stance was bold.  Both hands fell atop her own wide hips and a lopsidedly wry grin was shown off.

“I wonder what made you so interested in coming to VIPPER HQ of all places,” Tei murmured quizzically.  She tried to remain smooth and serious in front of Len, but it was true that her voice shook a little with each word she forced out.

“Oh wait…  It’s me that has you interested, yes?”

Tei made the strong effort to shrug smugly though her body seemed to betray the action’s ferocity with it’s endless shaking.

“Falling for me is inevitable, after all,” she sighed.

Len froze upon hearing a voice behind him, his first thought was that he had been recognized by a fan. Although, after meeting eyes with the other, he somehow felt like he might not have been too far off.

However, perhaps due to being caught off guard, he found it difficult to focus on what she was saying as she spoke. Her body language was particularly distracting, given how twitchy it was. It didn't help that the atmosphere around him suddenly seemed strange.

Even after she was done speaking, he simply continued standing there in front her, likely looking quite dumbfounded. “Ahm...” He quickly broke his gaze towards her shaking right hand to turn back to her face.

       "Tei, isn't it?" He blurted out.

Despite how chatty the other seemed to be, this was all Len managed to say in return. Now that he really looked at it, something about her stance felt like it was meant to intimidate, but perhaps that was just his paranoia warping his view.

          Luka wondered why a parent would decide to discard their own child like that, but chose to avoid that subject, “Is it possible that we can adopt? Surely it shouldn’t matter if the parents aren’t humans, right? As long as the child is cared for and loved….” She placed her index finger on her cheek, “Len, do you think I would be a good Mother��?”

        “Ah, well, it is true that we couldn’t have kids otherwise...” Len didn’t want a kid, especially since he was pretty sure he’d never find someone he’d want to raise it with, so he had never entertained such a notion before. “I mean, maybe... I don’t know. Even if law allowed it, that doesn’t mean Crypton would.” He scratched the back of his neck, feeling a bit awkward.

        “Ah... Ahm...” If Luka was raising a human child, he could only imagine how many phone calls he would get every time she was confused about something. Even so, Luka was definitely sweet enough to be a mother, but he had to wonder how well she could keep a kid from danger, especially when she could hardly handle herself. ...Of course, it was all hypothetical either way. “You are... very nice, Luka. Nicer than me. What I mean is, despite what anyone may say about being ‘a robot,’ you have more genuine love to give than a lot of humans do.” He paused for a moment, thinking of the best way to imply that she might be a bit too uninformed to be a mother. “So, yes, in the future, when you’re sure you know everything about the world around you, I think you would be a good mother.”

“Ah, really? I’ve never considered something like that for anyone besides Rin... But now that you’ve said it, it does make sense.”

“Of course, I don’t really know what families are like, but I think I think of you as a sister too.”

“A-ah….I don’t think I’d like that. ” Luka looked away, “They…they don’t pair us together do they? That would be very weird!”

Len was taken aback at first, but it was a logical follow-up question, and thankfully, it didn’t have a weird answer.

“Ah.. Not very often at all, actually.”

“Well, ahm...” He paused, thinking of the best way to explain the term.

“Usually people use it to mean that they, ah, think two people would make a good couple!”

He smiles tossing acorns into the air aggressively. "Hey kid, wanna buy some nuts?"

Len had a rule about getting strange food from strange people: don’t. Even if they were nicely dressed, like this one was.

“No thanks..!”

nothing really, I just like watching videos people make of us and a few comments were…interesting.

Yeah...

Personally, I try not to look at that stuff anymore.

I guess it is a little surprising you’re only finding out about it, though. I hope you didn’t read anything too weird.
