GUYS. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS TRAINER. THIS IS MISINFORMATION.
For Arceus’ sake, this is some “Team Plasma did nothing wrong” crap.
Psyduck experiencing headaches and expressing psychic power has been recorded as far back as the mid-1800s, long before Pokemon training and breeding was even commonplace. It’s mentioned pretty clearly in the groundbreaking works of Laventon et al., for goodness’ sake, but I’m guessing that whatever New Age conspiracy theories you’ve been reading online doesn’t care about actual science.
They also don’t just “lie around in the mud”. Psyduck can swim just fine, and can frequently be found in aquatic biomes in a bunch of different regions, including Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, and Alola.
This is NOT to say that there AREN’T unethical Pokemon breeders out there!! Mass breeding is a pretty major problem in the competitive training industry right now, and I frankly don’t think enough Trainers are speaking out against it, even here in Unova (though, to be fair, some guy working with Plasma literally froze Opelucid City a few years ago, so that probably took precedent for a while).
And it is true that a lot of people don’t raise their Psyduck correctly -- it’s a pretty difficult Pokemon to take care of, precisely because of the headaches. But people mistakenly assume that it’s just a goofy low-maintenance Pokemon because in the wild, they’re often found living alongside Pokemon species that are easy to raise. Stress amplifies a Psyduck’s headaches, so if you’re seeing Psyduck “lying around in the mud in pain”, it’s not because they’re somehow “unnatural”, it’s because you’re seeing dumbass Trainers who don’t know how to handle raising a fucking Psyduck.
Given all the “natural” vs. “unnatural” stuff, I wouldn’t be surprised if OP is an anti-Potioner too lol.
PSA to ALL Pokemon trainers
STOP SUPPORTING BREEDERS WHO BREED PSYDUCKS.
Tumblr media
I don’t care that they’re “cute” or “a good Pokemon for my roster” or whatever bullshit excuse ya’ll have, Psyducks live in constant pain due to immoral breeding.
Psyducks are meant to be simple water Pokemon, that’s how they came to be naturally, but then immoral scientists and breeders bred Psyducks to have psychic abilities. So now all that is left of these beautiful creatures are Psyducks that live with constant headaches, lying around in the mud in pain while disgusting trainers like ya’ll standing around fawning over literal TORTURE. “Aww look how they are grabbing their heads, sooo cute uwu” YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK.
Already I can tell what some of ya’ll are thinking, “b-but their headaches go away when they evolve into Golduck” and yeah, you’re right. BUT THEY ARE THEN HUNTED DOWN BY POACHERS FOR THEIR FOREHEAD GEMS WHICH IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THESE BREEDS YOU IGNORANT DUMBFUCKS. It’s all a bullshit industry designed to make easy pokebucks.
Ya’ll need to stop supporting these disgusting institutions and catch (or don’t, Pokemon ownership is icky not gonna lie) some NATURAL Pokemon.

all my favorite christmas carols are either:
1) centuries-old song about a god i don't believe in, perpetuated by a church i actively despise
2) "we're your neighbors, give us food, also we are probably drunk" (also centuries old)

I read this story to my mother and she immediately said “that sounds like you”
my mom didn’t believe in lying to children so when I first asked about santa claus as a small child she was like “oh santa claus is another name for a man named saint nicholas who lived a long time ago. he was a very kind and generous man and he loved giving people presents and he would do things like put presents in people’s stockings when they were hung up to dry by the fire, so they would find them and be surprised. so now when we give presents at christmas it’s fun to pretend saint nicholas or ‘santa claus’ brings them. and we hang up stockings by the fire and when we get up in the morning there are presents in them, just like if saint nicholas was still alive to bring them!”
so that thanksgiving one of my uncles said jovially “so mac, are you being good for santa claus?” and little (not quite three year old) mac looked up and raised an eyebrow and said witheringly “he’s dead.”

I forgot to mention the horrible thing on the wall in the back. That’s a clock with eyes that go back and forth. I think it’s supposed to be Pinocchio.
I got it in Italy when I was, like, 11 or 12. We went to the Rialto Bridge, and one of the shops there was some novelty clock shop. I went in with my family and immediately saw this godawful Pinocchio clock and decided I absolutely NEEDED it. Most of the clocks were owls or cats, but there was only one Pinocchio, and it instantly became my utmost favorite thing that I had seen for sale anywhere in Venice.
But we got there right before closing time, so the next day, my mom made my dad get up extremely early in the morning and run all over the Rialto Bridge looking for the clock shop so I could get the Pinocchio clock.
Now I’m 26 and I’m pretty sure it’s still in my parents’ kitchen.
I never actually played Team Fortress 2 myself (time-consuming academics and all) – I just kept up with all the comics and short videos. So I don’t have much to contribute to #SaveTF2.
At least, in terms of actual stories about playing TF2.
So I’m about to tell you Teufort Tumblrites a very, very different story about my involvement with this fandom – back in the days when I was an undergraduate, the servers were thriving, and my friends were always ready to make jokes about this game.
This is the story of the tumor pinata.
My background is mostly in two overlapping fields: biology and bioengineering. In one of my undergrad honors seminars, I had a group project where we had to do a presentation on a paper on a topic of our choice. We chose antigen-specific cancer immunotherapy – essentially, using the immune system to fight cancer without hurting the body with its own immune cells in the process.
Now, I love presenting, and I really like to do fun multimedia things to make my presentations more fun for the audience. In particular, I like having interactive aspects, and I like giving out food. So in this case, I decided that I should do the same thing with this presentation, to make it more memorable.
Specifically, I decided to make a big pull-string papier-mache pinata. Which I painted to look like a GIANT TUMOR.
You see, the students in the audience were supposed to represent the immune cells, and they would come up and pull the strings to kill the tumor. Which I had decided to fill with Starburst candy.
It was a massive hit with my class. Naturally, this meant I decided to tell my friends all about it.
My friends who played TF2.
I was a fan of the series already. I had read all the comics, watched all the videos… except one.
You see, because of how focused I was on my studies, I didn’t always have time to check for updates to my favorite series, whether they were games, comics, shows, or anything else. And I, pre-medical biology student and creator of the tumor pinata, had absolutely no clue that Expiration Date had come out shortly before my presentation.
It should also be noted, at this time, that I have a very obviously German surname.
Hoo boy, I got a LOT of jokes about the Medic and his tumor bread.
I ended up just kind of running with it – he’s my favorite TF2 character, so I’d say I got a good deal out of this – and Expiration Date quickly became my favorite video in TF2′s entire repertoire, partially just because of its legitimate quality, but also very much because of the tumor pinata. Because of this, I got way, way more involved with the Team Fortress 2 community, both with my college friends and online, and started following TF2 fandom blogs, meeting other people who liked the game, sending memes back and forth, etc. I’m even still friends with some of them, after all this time!
So that’s the story of how I made my first real connection with the Team Fortress 2 fan community. Not through fan fiction or fanart. Not via cosplay or conventions. Not even by playing the actual goddamn game.
My friendships in this community were fostered, at their core, by tumor candy.
As a side note, I stored the remains of the tumor pinata in my family’s garage for several months, until it was finally eaten by mice that decided to live in it. Archimedes might have competition.

I’m already planning a plasmoid wizard who has an in-universe justification for this:
The character’s natural color is a pale bluish-gray. They keep turning different colors because they like to slurp calligraphy ink like a juice box.
spelljammer is out and i already know that plasmoid colors are about to be the next tiefling skintones

If I went to heaven, I would be just as miserable as if I went to hell.
Heaven feels selfish. It feels like an absolution from responsibility and little more. If you can’t directly help people on Earth anymore, what’s the difference? Just what happens to you, specifically?
You’re still dead and elsewhere, and Earth is no better off with you going in one direction than the other.
Better to work to make Earth into a heaven than to just escape to somewhere else.
So, perhaps to the surprise of this website, this isn’t about religious trauma or anything.
Anyways, sorry about the radio silence, I had long work hours.
