“I mean you can try..” Addy cracked a smile as she recognized Nova. “Grown up by whose definition? I still feel like I’m fumbling. I hope he is. He helped inspired what I want to do.” She looked up to Griffin for many reasons, but his big heart was a factor. “What are you  up to?”

“Yeah? And you’ll watch? Or it won’t be any fun. I need some spectators to cheer me on while I try it out.” Nova teased once more. She wasn’t even gonna make an attempt because there was no way she’d enjoy the feeling of getting crushed by a bunch of trucks. “Well, that’s normal, isn’t it? You only just started, little freshman. But I’m sure you’ll be fine eventually, after you get into the swing of things. Just gotta get the hang of it first and everything.” the brunette was trying to be encouraging because she knew that it could only get better from here on out and she herself wasn’t a big fan of giving up on things that she really wanted. And she could tell that Addison really wanted this, that she wanted to build a life and a future for herself. “Just here to tease you, obviously. Well, and I have to head down to the studio later to teach some dance classes.” Nova loved her job, she truly did. Dancing had been a part of her life for so long, but yet she still couldn’t stop thinking about her life as a police detective in the past - the one where she’d ended up killing a man. Would Addy still be nice to her if she knew that?

Freya watched as a customer that was browsing the clothes nearby held up a top in an orange color that just clashed with their skin tone. She had gotten into working in fashion for a reason. She hated seeing people picking clothes that were just so wrong for their body type and just clashed with their skin tone. “Here,” she interjected, grabbing the same top in a nice blue shade. “I think this will go much better with your skin tone.”

Nova had been checking out some clothes at the adjacent rack when she spotted a lady holding a shirt with a hideous color - so much that it made her scrunch up her nose the second she spotted the sales clerk making her way over to help out. Some people were such shopping disasters and didn’t even know what looked good and what didn’t, it was kind of sad if you asked her. The metahuman couldn’t help but turn towards the two females after another moment, looking the other customer over with her hazel colored hues and pursing her lips over to one side. “Yeah, and this one also doesn’t make you look fat like the other one does.”

Oliver snapped his gaze over to who had spoken, the voice had momentarily pulled his attention away from the two males but it was what she did that caused his attention to stick with her. The males were now the last thing on his mind, his eyes wandering up and down to take her in more carefully now. That could’ve been seen as a reckless move, it was. However, Oliver was more than happy that she had done something like that. She practically stepped out in front of him dressed like a bullseye. “I never agreed to your bet.” His tongue glided along his lower lip turning to look at the establishments around them. “But, what about a drink?” He asked giving her a smile afterwards, all forced considering the disgust he felt knowing what she was.

“Backing out already? Just because you lost? Tsk, tsk.” Nova gave a devious smile to the man beside her after shifting her attention back to him. The two men looked flustered, but that didn’t stop them from trying to find a way around the thick wall of ice. A drink always sounded appealing to her though, so who was she to say no to free booze? The metahuman nodded her head after another moment when he suggested it, that same smile remaining on her lips. “Fine, I guess your name and a drink’ll do for now, but you’re gonna owe me a hell of a lot more than just that because I pretty much foiled that little bet of yours.”

“Did you know that one cubic inch of bone can withstand the weight of five standard pickup trucks? Give or take anyhow,” Addison quipped as she saw someone’s shadow cast over from the light beside herself. “Sorry, you probably didn’t want random medical facts. My heads swimming in it from homework.”

“So you’re saying my tiny body can lift a whole bunch of pickup trucks? Cool.” Nova took the liberty of sitting down next to Addison, knowing that she was Griffin’s cousin and they were pretty much acquainted. Since the girl was important to her leader, it made her kind of important to Nova too and she tended to keep an eye on Addy from time to time when she felt it was needed. “Look at you, being all studious. You’re all grown up now, Addy. In college and doing homework. Your cousin must be proud of you, mmh?”

“Not always,” Alex rolled his eyes. “That’s cute. Got any more jokes for me?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. He let out a huff. “Sure, whatever you want. I didn’t look at the list of items but don’t be disappointed if all there is in there is a singing dump truck or something like that. Although that’d probably be pretty funny, honestly,” he said sarcastically. Looking around, he led her out of the elevator once they reached the ground floor and he gestured for her to walk ahead of him. “Quickest way to the docks is through the backalleys. Are we taking my bike or walking?”

“I’ve got plenty of jokes for you, big guy.” Nova didn’t really run out of material by default because she was pretty much made of sass. She’d basically grown up that way and it had become a big part of her life, so sparring was what she was used to. “Really? You’re gonna let me keep some of the stuff? I was kinda kidding about that, but hey, if you’re feeling generous today...” the brunette kept that devilish smirk firmly on her lips as she exited the building and rounded the corner to the left. “It’s not that far from here, so let’s walk. I stuffed a dagger inside one of my boots too, just in case. I’m not in my suit, so I don’t have my sai with me. The dagger’ll have to do. You good yourself? I mean, technically you don’t need a weapon if all you’re gonna do is be spectator boy and watch me beat that thief up.”

“You say that as if I’m some kind of apathetic loner or something,” Alex sighed a little. Well, maybe that wasn’t all too far off from the truth anyway. He had taught himself to not feel anything. It helped much better with his night job. “Only people who are drunk and bored from any pier events which never seem to happen anymore. Last time something happened there, I was still in school,” he said with a shrug. “Anyway, the point is, if you have a lead there, then that’s where we’re going. The items don’t matter so much anymore. I have some investors looking into the company and if I play my cards right, the company can make up for what was lost and double it. You getting to punch the shit out of this guy just makes it even more entertaining,” he said, nodding towards the elevator after grabbing something out of his drawer and sticking it carefully into his pocket.

“Well, aren’t you? You’re almost surpassing the Grinch at this point, so he better watch out for the competition that is you.” she didn’t think that she’d ever met anyone as grumpy as Alex or even anyone who came close to his level of being a grouch. “Are you kidding me? I want the stuff back. Not just for you, but because you’d have to let me pick out some things as a thank you. Maybe there’s some pretty jewelry in there or keys to a nice car or a house.” Nova smirked, making her way down the street and keeping her eyes and ears sharpened, just in case. Sometimes, she really hated Griffin for making her do the right thing because she wasn’t used to being softer than usual. But she knew that this would be important to him, so he was also a big reason why the brunette was doing this, trying to retrieve those items.

“No, he just has more patience with that than I do,” Alex smirked, raising his eyebrows. “That’s because you don’t have an off switch when it comes to being smart,” he said, rolling his sleeves up. “The harbor. There’s an old building there… where the shipyard is,” he licked over his lips. “It’s a good place to hide things… like many of the abandoned buildings in the city. But there’s one specific machinery building that makes parts for boats. Maybe there’s something there.” He let out a soft huff. “Fine. Your case, your lead. Let’s head out.”

“Aw, and here I didn’t think I’d live to see the day you’d call me smart.” Nova laid a hand on her chest and pretended to look touched, though she had a devilish smile crawling onto her lips at the same time. “Yup! I was thinking the exact same thing, so we’re going there right now. I mean, who expects anything to be hidden at the harbor, right? It looks innocent and quiet enough and that’s probably why he’s been hiding out there. With your stuff. And to think that it’s been missing since July by now and you still don’t have it back. You should expect not everything to be there though because he might have sold some of it by now. Still, whatever we can get back, we’ll get back and if he ends up bruised, all the better. Come on, let’s go.”

“Do you talk to Griffin like that or do you just take pride in being notably smartassed to me?” Alex pursed his lips, then went back to his computer. “Facial recognition was run and it seems like he is a regular in the city.” He raised his eyebrows, not knowing if this was just a waste of time or if he should wait until he had more information. “Well, it looks like you’re going to get that opportunity. Color me intrigued, exactly where are we going?“

“Why? You jealous, big guy? Don’t worry, Griff gets plenty of sass from me too. You’re just fun to be sassy to and you make it really easy for me to be that way. You practically walk into all of my comments.” she couldn’t help but comment, making her way into the city and trying to remember the fastest way to the harbor where she was pretty sure the thief was located right now. If Alex would finally get his stuff back, she didn’t know, but Nova was persistent as ever and she didn’t want to stop until those things were safely returned once and for all. “The harbor. That’s where my lead went, so I’m assuming he’s still there or at least close to it. Just don’t start talking with your fist right away, yeah? Because I wanna do that.”
