LOOKING FOR PLAYERS FOR A WESTMARCH DND CAMPAIGN!!!

I'm currently working on a Westmarch campaign and I'm looking for 5-7 people interested in joining. This will be taking place in Discord. You don't need previous experience with dnd.

What is a Westmarch Campaign?

Westmarch campaigns are not weekly or with the same players like home games, instead players can choose to join once the specific mission has been posted, allowing for a larger number of players to engage as well as allowing for those with a more hectic schedule to join.

What is the plot?

The campaign is set in the Forgotten Realms, specifically in Daerlun. Fifty years ago, the most powerful adventuring guild turned against the gods, leading to adventurers being looked down upon. Recently, a dragon that was once part of the traitorous guild has finally been granted permission to start her own adventuring guild to assist her in the protection of the city of Daerlun, as well as to help her acquire more items for her museum.

What are the rules?

•18+ players only. We don't really do anything NSFW, but all other players are 18 or older and I don't feel comfortable playing with minors.

•No queerphobia, misogyny, racism or any type of bigotry. I am queer and latina, many of the other players are queer as well. If you have an issue with that, stay away.

•Games will be played through discord. We have two types of games, ones run through Voice Chats that are more like the regular DND games and roleplay focused games that are play by post and text only. You are not forced to engage in both. You choose what you want to play.

•No murder hobos or characters that are too antagonistic. I have had issues with players like that before, I do not wish to have that problem again.

•Expect some gore, horror, fantastical racism and bigotry. Romance is allowed, but take anything greater than kissing to DMs or fade to black. There is a more detailed list of triggers in the server.

More information:

•Characters will start at level 3 and can reach level 13. You level up depending on how many sessions you join and its difficulty.

•Homebrew is a case by case situation, however I am trying to stay as faithful to forgotten realms lore as possible.

•I allow for most races found in the forgotten realms, however, since the campaign will be heavily dealing with Shadowfell stuff, it is suggested that characters have connections to that.

•The most common enemies will be undead and monstrosities, though expect dragons and fiends as well, particularly at higher levels.

•Adventures (dnd sessions) normally last around 3 hours. I intend on running most games on fridays, saturdays and sundays at 8pm EST sundays at 2pm EST

Different Stories Resonate with Different People

this is just my opinion but i think any good media needs obsession behind it. it needs passion, the kind of passion that's no longer "gentle scented candle" and is now "oh shit the house caught on fire". it needs a creator that's biting the floorboards and gnawing the story off their skin. creators are supposed to be wild animals. they are supposed to want to tell a story with the ferocity of eating a good stone fruit while standing over the sink. the same protective, strange instinct as being 7 and making mud potions in pink teacups: you gotta get weird with it.

good media needs unhinged, googling-at-midnight kind of energy. it needs "what kind of seams are invented on this planet" energy and "im just gonna trust the audience to roll with me about this" energy. it needs one person (at least) screaming into the void with so much drive and energy that it forces the story to be real.

sometimes people are baffled when fanfic has some stunning jaw-dropping tattoo-it-on-you lines. and i'm like - well, i don't go here, but that makes sense to me. of fucking course people who have this amount of passion are going to create something good. they moved from a place of genuine love and enjoyment.

so yeah, duh! saturday cartoons have banger lines. random street art is sometimes the most precious heart-wrenching shit you've ever seen. someone singing on tiktok ends up creating your next favorite song. youtubers are giving us 5 hours of carefully researched content. all of this is the impossible equation to latestage capitalism. like, you can't force something to be good. AI cannot make it good. no amount of focus-group testing or market research. what makes a story worth listening to is that someone cares so much about telling it - through dance, art, music, whatever it takes - that they are just a little unhinged about it.

one time my friend told me he stayed up all night researching how many ways there are to peel an orange. he wrote me a poem that made me cry on public transportation. the love came through it like pith, you know? the words all came apart in my hands. it tasted like breakfast.

There are a couple of things about current shipping culture that confuse me.  

1. The focus on whether or not a pairing will become canon as a reason people should ship something or not.  Do you not understand what the “transformative” part of “transformative works” means?”

2. This idea that saying “I ship that” means “I think that, as presented in canon,this is a perfect, healthy relationship that everyone should model their relationship after.” 

Sometimes shipping something does mean that.  Sometimes shipping something means “Person A is a trash bag who doesn’t deserve person B but I would love to explore how Person A might grow to deserve Person B.” Sometimes it means “I want these characters to live together forever in a conflict free domestic AU.”  Sometimes it means “I want Person A to forever pine after Person B.  Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts.”  And sometimes it just means you like their faces and want to see Person A and Person B bone in various configurations and universes.

The biggest difference between Undertale and Deltarune is that Undertale adheres to the forms of children's adventure fantasy (in which most adults are well-meaning but misguided and can potentially become useful allies), while Deltarune adheres to the forms of YA fantasy (in which adults are contractually obligated to be actively malicious, unable or unwilling to acknowledge the existence of the problem, or temperamentally unsuited to provide meaningful aid), and this explains basically everything about why your favourite returning Undertale character is Like That in Deltarune.
