Xbox X Series X|S outsold PS5 in the UK in January

Nearly 150,000 consoles sold in the region in the last month

Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 have already been on the market for a couple of months and have been fighting a battle in which they hope to conquer the majority of the public. For this reason, it is noteworthy that, during January, Xbox Series X|S sold more units than PlayStation 5 in the United Kingdom.

According to information from GfK (via GamesIndustry.biz), during January 2021, 150,000 consoles were sold in the UK. What's interesting is that, for the first time since its launch, the Xbox Series X|S became the most popular console of the month in this region.

In second place is the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo's console that continues to be a sensation in the market. What's interesting is that sales of these consoles saw a year-over-year increase of 21%, which is impressive considering it's competing against next-gen consoles.

But what about the PlayStation 5? It ranked third in sales, being the current-gen console that shipped the fewest units during January 2021 in the UK. Now, it should be noted that the source reports that Sony's console was virtually out of stock in the first 2 weeks of the year.

The above reminds us that, as we previously told, the sales figures of both consoles are being limited by production and distribution problems. Since both are selling like hot cakes, the reality is that the one that sells more units is simply the one that managed to sell more.
