Being aroace is so funny because sometimes I'll go to sleep thinking to myself "do I lack something fundamental to the full human experience" and then I wake up the next day and realize it is not that serious

I’ll have to admit it: I may have courage, but I don’t have the brains to match. When I get myself into this kind of fix, I’m totally at a loss. But even if I’m at a loss, I’ll be damned if I’m going to be a loser. To give up at this point would have been a disgrace.

I think we should utilize a little thing from the last olympian a lot more. When percy and annabeth were fighting on the bridge, percy says that a chill went down his spine like someone was walking over his grave and then like a second AFTER that annabeth cries out bc she gets stabbed. I think we should just give percy this uncanny ability to sense when annabeth is in danger bc I think its Neat.
Percy getting up in the middle of class and booking it to their apartment in new rome, running up the flights of stairs instead of using the elevator, bursting into their apartment and finding annabeth on the counter screaming as she watches a huge spider crawl around on the floor. Them at a college party (that Annabeth dragged him to) and he’s pouting in the corner when all of a sudden he just shoots up and dashes over to her and takes her drink and dumps it out bc someone spiked it.
Percy lost in California just following his inner compass as Lupa put it when all of a sudden it starts going haywire and leading him east, his heart pounding and his skin breaking out in goosebumps. He makes it to Stockton via the water before the feeling finally passes and his inner compass leads him back west toward San Francisco but he keeps watching the eastern horizon wondering what it was that was calling him so desperately.

I saw some posts a while back talking about Dazai's intelligence, and how he isn't as smart as people think he is. I just wanted to say that's mostly true. He's much smarter.
Tumblr media
source
Here's a statement from Asagiri about Dazai's mind from the bsd exhibition 2023. There are tons of statements like this in the light novels and the manga, Dazai is different from other "smart" in bsd. Characters like Mori, Sasaki, Louisa... are all really smart and would be considered geniuses to normal people, but Dazai is a level beyond that, his mind is so advanced it makes normal people completely alien to him. This isn't my headcannon, it's stated explicitly in the Dead Apple
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dazai is one of 3 characters; Him, Shibusawa and Fyodor (4 if you count Ranpo which I do) who are considered superhuman in their intelligence.
Mostly I just bring this up because Dazai's super human intelligence is one of the most integral parts of his character, because its a curse for him.
It's shown again and again throughout the series that the "supergenuise" characters all suffer from crippling lonelyness and a feeling of alienation from "normal people". Fukuzawa's intervention with Ranpo was what kept him off the path that Fyodor or Shibusawa followed and the same is true for Oda and Dazai.

NEVER. sit down
The only adhd tips that actually work:
1. Never tell anyone what you're planning to do until you do it (you will get a premature dopamine hit and sense of accomplishment from telling them and lose motivation to actually do it)
2. Never sit down (never sit down)

“Today’s society is no longer Foucault’s disciplinary world of hospitals, madhouses, prisons, barracks, and factories. It has long been replaced by another regime, namely a society of fitness studios, office towers, banks, airports, shopping malls, and genetic laboratories. Twenty-first-century society is no longer a disciplinary society, but rather an achievement society. Also, its inhabitants are no longer “obedience-subjects” but “achievement-subjects.” They are entrepreneurs of themselves.”

"i dont like jason grace because he's boring" is the most evil statement because a. THATS THE POINT and b. thats EXACTLY what makes him NOT boring.
camp jupiter is BUILT to make children into machines. work as a machine, work with the group to be a machine. or, be spare parts. it is rigid. it is unforgiving. it is built to suppress individuality. the MOST autonomy jason grace got was joining the lower end of the cohorts of the legion, was a failing petition against a traditional board.
jason grace grew up in camp jupiter. not like hazel, frank, percy, nico, etc., who were only there for a year or two at MOST. he grew up there. if i had to guess, i would say age 5 through age 15-- roughly a decade. everything he learned there is going to be DRILLED into him.
yes, he is going to seem boring.
the whole POINT of it is so he can have his character arc of "i dont really want to follow the rules..?" that he doesn't want to be praetor, he just wants to be a normal kid at camp half-blood and live with piper and leo. and thats what MAKES him a character that ISNT boring.

i never understood ppl claiming percy has never suffered the consequences of his loyalty. you're talking about percy "i know the prophecy said my friend would betray me but these are my friends they wouldn't betray me" jackson, who walked into a remote part of the forest with luke and almost died in book one. you're talking about percy "kronos told me point-blank there was a traitor but i can't imagine any of these ppl betraying me" jackson, who decided to stop looking for the traitor and moved on. you're talking about percy "nico is acting suspicious and very clearly hiding something from me but he's my friend and i trust him" jackson, who walked into nico's very obvious set up and almost got himself held hostage during the titan war. percy is so loyal that he cannot fathom betrayal until it's happening, and it has nearly killed him multiple times.

yes, percy rose through the ranks of new rome disturbingly fast. no, jason did not do the same at camp half blood. yes, percy's rise to leadership at both camps took about two weeks and was completely unplanned. no, the same cannot be said for jason. his rise was carefully planned and took over a decade. they're both children of the big three, but where percy thrums with raw power, jason is a sword honed by zeus and hera. where percy is a survivor, jason is a weapon. where percy is a cycle breaker, jason can't get out. jason's fatal flaw was temptation to deliberate because he never managed to make his own choices. he was every classic definition of a hero rolled into one, and he never questioned it because his happiness came after the responsibility. jason was never going to ascend as fast as percy because jason was raised on hard work and discipline while percy, an abuse survivor and child of poverty, knew when to fight dirty. where jason was a transplant, percy was an invasive species. jason was always going to die because he was never more than a tool for the gods to throw away when he outlived his usefulness, or when he started to question his place. if someone as locked down as jason can question the system, anyone can. now that luke has put thoughts of overthrow in everyone's heads, zeus has to be very careful because while jason was expendable as his weapon, percy was unexpected in every way. zeus has no plan for him. when percy dies, he will become a martyr, so he can't die, except now everyone knows that percy doesn't want to be a god either. jason had to die, and now percy has to live.
