hey if you're the type of writer that's like me where you tend to write specific scenes first that vaguely weave together into a plot, you might like using obsidian as a writing app.

my frustration with other writing applications is that i will write my scenes out of order and it's hard to move things around and rearrange them on a regular document.

but with obsidian there's this canvas feature where you can just write all your scenes and plot moments on these little cards that you can freely rearrange. you can color code them and connect them too.

here's the canvas i've created for my current multi-chapter fic: (if you zoom in you can see all the text in each card this what it looks like zoomed out)

as you can see, i color code them based off chapters and will group them next to a document card with the working title of the chapter. anything not color-coded are scenes that don't have a proper place quite yet or it's just world building references. this app can also be good for note-taking and collecting research!

best of all, it's FREE!!! the only downside is that if you want your stuff to sync across devices, you do have to pay for that. i constantly hop between my laptop and desktop so i pay for the syncing. but if you write on only one device it's completely free!

i typically use it for organizing my thoughts for a first draft. once i get all the scenes arranged and mostly written out, i will copy and paste them into ellipsus (also free & highly recommended as a google doc alternative) so that they're all in one document that i can edit.

okay so if you need more veggies/fruit, protein or fibre (bc most people do NOT eat enough) in your diet but you struggle to do so, hear me out:

look up recipes (especially snack recipes) that are child/toddler/baby-friendly

i can guarantee there is a woman with a cooking blog out there who has found away to pack a bunch of vegetables into a surprisingly delicious little snack for her kids. this process has never failed me when i feel like i am not eating enough fruits and veggies. my entire flat is eating spinach muffins at the moment, which doesn’t sounding particularly appealing to most people and yet somehow. they’re delicious.

Hello, I hope you don't mind me asking about an older fic of yours, I read your fic lines in sand and it is fantastic. I think it's my favorite fic ever i love your characterization so much. You do a fantastic job of writing crushes and I really enjoy the way you write Draken he's wonderful. I was wondering if there were ever any plans for writing more future mikeys. Ch 14 was such a gut punch with that mikey losing takamitchy it hurt so bad which is a testament to your excellent writing. I was wondering if there were ever going to be other future mikeys in the fic. Like were there ever any plans for manilla mikey? I think it'd be fascinating to see your Takamitchy interact with a version of mikey who went down that really dark path and see how he reacts to the boy he adores growing into the guy he was so afraid of to start with. I wonder how mikey would react to a future version of himself who he knew takamitchy was afraid of...

I hope you don't mind the questions I just got super invested in the fic and I keep thinking about all these different scenarios haha.

Thank you! I always love questions about my fics, even when I'm not actively writing some of them - though this one has been on my mind a bit since I'd like to eventually post more of the written chapters, it's just the edits needed/a couple weren't fully complete. One day!

I can confirm (**spoilers** I guess but that's the nature of the ask lol) there are more future Mikeys, I couldn't resist the angst factor of it all. Plus plot of course xD Those future dreams won't get any cheerier and also involve Mikey each time, and while I can't remember for certain all the future plans, in part 2 (so getting into the Valhalla/Kazutora arc) there would be a more extended sequence involving a dark Toman - though I *think* most future Mikeys veered closer to original/Bonten variants, than Manila. Still never a fun time for poor Takemitchy!

It's definitely fun to think about current Mikey (and even Draken) reacting to their various future selves...and another little spoiler; they won't stay ignorant of Takemitchy's situation for much longer.

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

You know what, since I'm thinking about it anyways, let's talk formalwear accessories. Most of these are traditionally menswear but a bit of gender fuckery is good for the soul, and frankly most of these are about making your mass-produced clothing fit and lay properly without having to go to the tailor.

Shirt stays: these go around your thighs to hold your shirt down, so that it stays smooth and tucked in. They're usually elastic, with 1-3 clips, and if you wear skirts frequently this is a GREAT way to make sure your top doesn't ride up. The clips will be visible if you're wearing something tight, so loose pants or skirts are where these do best. There's also an insane version that clips to your socks, but that is for lunatics. If you wanted, you could also use one of these clips to hold up thigh-highs.

These do a great job of smoothing and narrowing the waist area by keeping your shirt from bunching there.

Sleeve garters: usually metal, leather, elastic, or silk. These are usually worn with button-down shirts to adjust where your cuff falls on the wrist or hand. They're properly worn on the upper arm, and you pull the fabric of the sleeve above the garter until you cuff is where you want it. Because this creates a puff of sleeve at the bicep, it also broadens the appearance of the shoulders. It's great if you're working with your hands or if your sleeves are often too long for your preference.

Waistband clip or belt adjustment clip/buttons

Three different ways of tightening the waistband of a pair of pants or a skirt. You're not going to get more than an inch or so tighter without weird bunching, and for most of these you'd want them to be hidden under a shirt or jacket, but they do the job if that's something you're having issues with.

Collar pins: There are so many fun ones out there, both with and without chains. They're not terribly practical, though the slight weight may help keep your collar where you want it. Also consider collar tips, which pin (surprise) to the very tips of your collar points.

Sweater clips/guards: meant to hold your sweater or cardigan mostly closed. Great if your cardigan doesn't button, or if you don't like it to be buttoned all the way.

There's tons of other stuff out there like this--etsy is a great place to find this stuff. A lot of these are old solutions to the very modern problem of mass-maufactured clothes not being as one-size-fits-all as advertised, but they're also a fun way to put a bit of personality into businesswear.

Ollie didn't play music often; he didn't need background noise the way Felix did. He actually listened to things, and on sunny weekend afternoons Oliver would occasionally put an album on. It was an oddly formal way to listen to music. Felix liked it, although he always ended up fucking about on his phone with the sound muted. Ollie would pick one of his records- The Stone Roses' self-titled album was a firm favourite- and they'd get comfortable on the sofa and listen to it all the way through... If they didn't get distracted, of course.

Putting a coat on the back of a chair by the door is fine, but if you prefer, use coat hooks and a large catch-all basket for dropping keys, hats, gloves.

Small bookcase end-table next to the couch to store craft projects, books, and other things being worked on for easy access.

Add a storage unit near the dining room table to transition between eating and working there.

Daily toiletry items should be stored in a basket that you can move easily

Extra toiletries and medicine cabinet items go in open shelf/basket storage so they can be seen and used easily. If items no longer fit, purge the excess. Don’t obscure the view!

If you disrobe in the bathroom, place a tall hamper in there.

Keep a set of cleaning supplies in each bathroom
