Total Control is such an intimate song, about viewing someone as a masterpiece, untouchable and perfect, and wanting to have control of their entire being. About being possessive, but then knowing that that’s an unreasonable notion to have because it can be incredibly hard to give your whole being to someone else. It’s the “I want all of you, but I know it’s hard to give it all up. I’m not ignorant of that.” of a relationship.

But then it's the satisfaction of just being near that person, knowing that they trust you and trusting you with knowing all of them. The “Relax, lay back, that’s that.” of it. Just relax with me, and that’s enough.
