How to Plan Your Study Time

(IMAGE CREDIT TO ME - PLEASE DO NOT REPOST)
This is a planning method that I’ve come up with by combining different study methods I’ve come across until now.
I plan for each test, exam or assignment in detail . (At least) a week before the test/exam, I spend a day to complete my study plan - then I (try to) follow the plan religiously until the test day.
Basically, there are 4 steps in my planning process:
1. Outline the big “chunks”. i.e. the main topics to be covered for the test. These are often headings of chapters or modules. I call these “tasks”.
2. Break down& list the subtasks. A topic/task must be broken down into smaller, manageable pieces that are very specific. More specific goals can lead to greater productivity. I refer to these smaller steps as “subtasks”. Ask WHAT and HOW. WHAT are you going to study and HOW are you going to study it? So for example, “Study chapter 1.1″ would answer what you are going to study but not HOW. Break it down into smaller steps. Goals like “Summarise ch 1.1″, “Go through problems 1.1.3 to 1.1.11″, etc. are better.
3. Weigh the tasks & subtasks. Highlight the tasks/subtasks that: a) the lecturer emphasised or mentioned as a potential exam question; b) you struggled with specifically. These must be distinguished because they will require more attention and time than the rest of the tasks.
4. Decide when each subtask needs to be completed. I follow The Seven Day Study Plan to plan when I will complete each subtask, and assign a day (between D2-D6) (remember, D1 is used for planning and checking that you have everything that you need) There are a few rules that I bear in mind at this stage:
a) Assign more time to study for the sections highlighted in step 3. b) Try, if possible, to finish one module within 1-2 days. c) Try, if possible, to study the material in a logical order i.e. such that the topics flow and are connected to each other in a logical manner. Lecture plans often flow quite logically so I like to study the subject in the order it was taught. d) It is a personal rule of mine to leave the last day (D7) open. I always try to cover everything before D7 and use the last day to catch up with whatever task I was unable to complete, and to review everything before the test.
After I am done planning, I copy the subtasks into my bullet journal/weekly planner.

+(High-res version of this image can be found here.)
This is the template I use to plan my study time for a test or exam, following the process I have described above. To demonstrate the planning process itself I’ll use my study plan for my Intro to electrical engineering class test as an example.

So I fill in the title - the test/assignment I need to study for. Then I fill in the due date (i.e. the date I am writing this test) in the top right hand corner.

I now fill in the Basic Outline block - I list the modules I need to study for this test.

Next, I write each point in the basic outlines block into each task block. Then I write down the corresponding textbook chapter number and the slide set number/name.

I go through my textbook, slides, resources, etc. and decide how I need to study. Usually the structure would be: summarise - revise summary - go through examples from lectures/textbook - do tutorial questions - do textbook questions. (Here, I list the subtasks in no particular order because I write them down as they pop into my head. I write them down in order in my bullet journal later.)
I highlight the sections that are important/guaranteed to be in the test, and the sections that I struggled with.

I assign a day to each subtask. I would usually plan to study 2 easy chapters together and plan separately for a more challenging module.

The completed plan would look something like this.
I use this process to plan for my essays as well. In this case, I list steps like planning, research, drafting, final draft in the Basic Outlines box, then follow a similar process as above.
If you have any questions, inbox me :)

Being with someone
You know, sometimes I would just like to be with someone. In a relationship type of way. And this is not about being cool and showing off 'oh look i'm having a relationship and you dont' like so many do and its not just about being initmate in a physical way with some but it is about being initmate on an emotional note. Just talking to someone, no matter if its mindless crap or serious af. Just hanging out, no matter if that means watching Netflix all day or going out to a nice cafe and go ice skating together. I just want someone to share this with and to be crazy with and to cuddle with. So being with someone would be nice, you know.

A Really Fucking Vulgar Guide to Not Losing Your Shit in College (Condensed Version)
Bitches love to put things into lists. Moreover, bitches love numbered shit. Here’s some numbered shit in list format to help you not suck in higher education. You’re welcome.
1. Go to class. Like 210% serious. I don’t give a shit if you’re a get by on nothing, A+ slacker. You’re fucking paying for this crap so you might as well get the services owed to you. Take your ass to class even if you zone out 99% of the time. You know 1% more than you did when you walked up in there. Congrats, asshole.
2. All that free time you have during your first week of classes? Make it your bitch. Don’t just print the goddamn syllabus and be like all done. No motherfucker. Take a good fucking look at that assignment list. What’s due next week? Yeah, do that shit now bc I know you don’t have anything else to do. Then when you’re coughing up a lung six weeks into the semester and don’t feel like getting your ass up to do that calculus homework, you’ll remember this week. You’ll remember that you’ve been a week ahead this whole damn semester. Pat yourself on the back, ass wipe.
3. Prepare yo self. No seriously. You got notes to print for class? Sure you could be like all those other bitches and just shove them into your backpack, or you could actually /prepare/ for class. I’m talking looking that shit over, identifying key concepts, getting a decent grasp of the material before your ass is even in class. You a STEM major? Yeah, make this kinda shit your life because now class is like one bomb ass group review session. Again, you’re welcome.
4. Snack like a motherfucker, but save that junk food shit for the weekends. From now on, you are a fucking health guru during the week or if you’re a slacker like me, at least on the days you have class. Fruits? Hell yeah. Pack some of those. Mind wandering in class? Snack on some apple slices. Can’t stay awake? Keep eating some almonds or some shit, but don’t be that bitch with the potato chips. Just don’t.
5. Read. Yeah, you heard me. Read and I’m not just talking assigned reading. I bet my left butt cheek that your campus library has /something/ of interest to you. Commuting and don’t want to drive out there? Library databases bro. We’re in the digital age, motherfucker. I’d bet my other butt cheek that the shit you want is in a nice little PDF somewhere. But na man, you thinking maybe you want to go into computer science? Check out computer science books and eat them up bro. You don’t like reading them? Probably not the field for you. You a biology major in your second year? Yeah dumbass. Time to break out the bio books and not the ones your professor is shoving in your face. Amaze your friends and teachers with your out of class knowledge. Be a fucking star.

Just completed and submitted the final version of my Extended Essay !!! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
So I compiled lists of words that I found super super useful in making it easier for me to finish any essay !! Here is a masterpost of some sort with transition words + key vocabs grouped together for easy access as well as an IB IOC ‘cheat sheet’ I used for my english LAL orals last year (though most commentaries follow a similar structure so its generalisable) ~
Good luck with your essays !!!
… oops just realised I forgot to bullet point one of the lists
