No, no, you guys, he's literally not a rodent!
The whole reason Pain is so offended is, while Panic's gopher is indeed a rodent, rabbits and hares are the only two species that belong to the family lagomorph!
They are lagomorphs because they have an extra pair of teeth behind the upper incisors called peg teeth and when the mouth is closed the teeth rub together and act like a knife sharpener!
It's the main thing that differentiates them just enough from rodents to justify a whole ass separate family for them!
But most people don't know that. That's why we laugh, we think this guy is so dumb he doesn't realize he's a rodent, except he isn't!
Like, who? Who, at Disney, had this information tucked away randomly to just be like, "Well, actually..."
I have it because I took environmental science and our teacher went a little deeper into the rodent vs lagomorph thing and this scene popped into my head! The two are intrinsically connected in my brain! I cannot think about one without the other!
The first person to point this out, didn't have that! Who thought to fact check that?
