Epilogue

WC: 2018
5 years later
"Welcome back to 107.9 the metro. I'm Faith Holt and We're here today with the lovely Geo Summer for the promotion of her 3rd album. We're all excited here at the studio but tell me, Geo, how are you feeling about this album? What can you tell us about it?"
I smiled at the interview, the headphones on my head pressed down alittle too tight giving me a headache as I spoke into the microphone. "I don't want to spread expectations but it's my favorite album yet. Me and my team have worked so hard on this album and every song has my sweat and tears poured into it."
"I can't wait. And neither can your fans. You're currently trending on Twitter in the Music and pop culture category with the hashtag, GS3Velocity." The interviewer said reading off some note cards. "When's the new single coming out?"
I smiled and held up a CD in a case, "how about in a few minutes for ya?" The interviewer smiled and grabbed the case from me. "You heard it folks, Geo's new single later on 107.9 the metro. But until then I have some questions for you."
"Shoot." I smiled.
"You grew up in Australia correct?" She asked making me nod, "Yeah until I was 18, and then I moved to Canada for 5 years and now I live here in LA."
"A lot of your current fans are high school students, how was your high school experience?" She asked.
I nodded, "it was great. I was in a band and had awesome friends."
"These friends included the band 5 Seconds of Summer correct? Stay tuned until 7:30 to hear about 5sos newest album Youngblood, How close were you with the band?" She asked.
That stupid band name was going to be the death of me. Every time I would turn on the Raido or look on Twitter it was always them. Now it had followed me to my personal life.
"We were friends. The drummer of the band was my friend from when we were 4 until we graduated." I tried to stay as broad as possible, hoping to move on to the next topic. Hell, I'd leak the whole album right now if she just stopped talking about that band.
"And what about you and Luke Hemmings?" She asked.
"We were friends. Just like me and all the guys." I said gritting my back teeth lightly.
She reached over to a CD holder and pulled out a CD case. "Fans were doing some digging and found this in 5 Seconds of Summer's first album." She opened up the case and slipped out the booklet from the case. "Did you know your name is their self-titled album is mentioned on the track Amnesia? Did you help write the song?"
She handed me the booklet. Sure I knew. I knew it was there because it was my song. It felt like ages ago when I wrote this song but it was played all across the world too, and 5 Seconds of Summer got the credit.
"Just something I wrote in highschool," I told her handing her back the booklet.
"Do you still talk to the guys? What about your other bandmates?" She asked.
My head spun.
"We're all doing our own thing now. and they are doing absolutely amazing things on their own." I just said.
The interviewer nodded took my single out of the cd case and popped it into the CD player. "We'll have Geo back on here in a few, right now here's Geo's new single, He's Alright." She clicked play on the machine and then turned off our mics. The red light went off signaling we were off the air and I sighed in relief. Thank goodness.
~~~~~~~~~
"That's been Geo today ladies and gentlemen. Don't forget to stream Velocity on June 20th anywhere you stream music. Thank you so much for being here today Geo." Faith said causing me to smile, "Of course. Thank you for having me."
"Here's Summers by Target Audience!" The red light went off and I took off the headset relieving the tension in my head. I said goodbye to Faith and the crew, thanking them for today, and soon left. I checked my phone time, it was 6 and I couldn't wait to go get dinner. I was absolutely starving. Skipping lunch wasn't a good idea but I was running around everywhere today. Chinese food sounded amazing.
I sat down in the lobby of the radio center and placed my bag on the table next to me before I called an Uber to come pick me up. It said it would be here in 10 minutes, I assumed traffic was bad to get here.
My phone rang and I picked it up holding it to my ear. "Hey, Sarah," I said into the line.
"Me and your dad listened to your show online! It was amazing. Max and Katy are already screaming for the song to be played again." My stepmom said into it.
"I'll send over the entire album for them on a CD," I said.
"Your dad's really proud of you honey. And your mom, I know she would be proud of you as well." I smiled, "That means a lot, thank you, Sarah."
"Okay, I'll let you go honey. Come visit soon! We love you."
"Love you, Mom."
Sarah slowly hung up the phone, I could hear her own breathing on the other end. I may have never known my real mom, but Sarah was the best mom I have known. I loved her and my dad more than anything, plus Max and Katy. They were my biggest supporters. Max was always telling his friends at school that his big sister Geo was a rock star.
"Aussie?" A voice said from next to me in his own Australian accent.
I turned my head slightly to barely take a glimpse at the man who had a beanie and sunglasses on matching my own, "New South Wales." I told him where I grew up.
"Same actually. Small world." He laughed lightly shaking his head. He walked over to the chair I was sitting in and slid off his glasses.
"What high school did you go to? I'm sure I know it." Ashton Irwin asked. My face fell as I stared into the eyes of my old friend. I hadn't talked to him in 4 years.
"South high," I replied honestly. Gosh please don't recognize me. Please don't recognize me.
"No way. Smallest fucking world." He said laughing shaking his head, "What's your name I'm bound to know you right? I'm Ashton."
I didn't answer but just turned to look at the door.
"Gigi?" Ashton asked causing my breath to hitch and I squeezed my eyes shut. It was rare now to hear Gigi instead of Geo when in high school it was the opposite. Only one person could call me Geo and now the entire world called me it.
"Ashton," I mumbled looking down at my phone that had dinged saying my ubers here. I stood up sliding the glasses up to the top of my head. "Lovely seeing you, but my ubers here."
"Bullshit." Ashton spat as I tried to walk past him.
"Excuse me?" I asked looking at him with raised eyebrows.
"Show me." He said. I rolled my eyes and held up my phone to him. He grabbed it and looked at the Uber app, I watched as he clicked on the screen and handed it back to me, canceling my ride.
"Oops." He said.
"You owe me that cancelation fee," I said glaring at him. I watched as he pulled a loose $10 bill from his pocket and held it out to me with his eyebrows raised. "Sit your ass down until your next Uber gets here."
"I don't know who you think you're talking to." I spat.
"I'm talking to someone who didn't answer a single phone call past her 19th birthday. So sit. Down." He said pointing to the chair I had been sitting on.
I sighed and sat back, taking off my hat and glasses and throwing them in my bag. Ashton sat down on the other chair, his elbow resting on the arm of it as he rubbed his face lightly.
"BB Records," I said. He waited for me to continue, "They didn't want me talking to you guys after your band got signed because it was a competitive record label."
He nodded lightly telling me to go on. "I'm sorry," I said sincerely. Silence filled the room and he motioned for me to keep going.
"What else do you want me to say, Ash? I have no excuse for actions." I mumbled turning to look anywhere but at him. The table next to me had a Bouquet of flowers in a vase. I grabbed them out of the vase and held them out to him.
He stared at them for a minute before slowly grabbing them and standing up. I stood up too, guilt across my face. "I'm sorry."
He smiled largely at me and engulfed me into a hug that swallowed me in the fabric of his shirt. "I missed my best friend." He said into my hair.
The bell on the front door rang making Ashton pull away slowly.
"We leave him alone for 5 minutes and he's already found someone he knows." I recognized the voice as Michael's.
"Shit," I mumbled squeezing my eyes shut. I could handle one member but not all of them.
"It's okay," Ashton whispered, "Just chatting it up with an old friend." He said throwing an arm around my shoulder forcing me to turn around.
"Gigi?" Calum asked.
They were so big. I didn't know people could age so much in 5 years, I mean they were proper adults. Michael had the same hair as he did in high school just his natural color which I thought I'd never see the day where he embraced it. Calum had the same shy away eyes that Maddison always talked about when they were together in high school. And Luke Hemmings was the same as I remembered. Beautiful. Like a prince out of a storybook, he looked Magical with his piercing eyes and his hair. His hair was longer, something my dad used to tell him not to grow out. He was taller, I mean a lot taller. I felt small compared to him and he wasn't even close to me.
The clock had started back up.
"And before you say anything, it was her manager who didn't allow her to answer our calls. I've accepted her apology for the group." Ashton said beaming.
"You look great Gigi," Michael said stepping forward a few feet to hug me. I smiled into the hug, "And you look the exact same Cliffo." He chuckled lightly pulling away, patting my shoulder as he did like he was checking if I was real.
Calum hugged me next looking at me almost confused. "I thought you lived in Canada?" Calum asked.
I shrugged, "BB records contract ran out and I didn't want to sign with them again, for obvious reasons, so I moved here about 2 weeks ago and am now an independent licensed artist."
"That's amazing. I've heard your art on the Radio, absolutely amazing as always." He praised.
Luke stepped up, hovering completely over me. "Save the best for last I'd hope." He said sending me a half smile.
I rolled my eyes and pulled him into a hug. "Of course I did." The hug lasted longer than expected but it lasted the length we needed. He smelt like cheap cologne, like the cheap cologne I used to buy for him I'm a highschool
As we pulled away, the rest of the boys were nowhere to be seen. Luke laughed lightly looking at the floor, shaking his head at his friends. Our friends.
The last turn of the Rubix cube. The last piece of the puzzle. The winning point of the game.
The last question.
"Did you miss me?" I asked lightly.
Question 20.
"More than you'll ever know."
6/20.
Chapter 7
WC: 4126
I woke up next to the devil.
His lips were parted slightly, his hair messy on his forehead from the pillow and his eye bags were already puffy. He was snoring ever so softly and it made me Remember the devil was once an Angel.
So, I woke up next to an angel.
I didn't remember any of the moments before truth or dare, but everything after that was etched into my mind.
We didn't do anything more than sleep in the same bed together not for any certain reason. It had been around 8 am and I was sipping on some water when an arm snaked around my waist and Luke Hemmings whispered into my ear groggily, "Come to bed with me, yeah?"
So I did.
And now I'm here, staring at his pale skin waiting for him to wake up. The clock on the dresser said 11:57 and if he didn't wake up soon, I'd have to go home without saying goodbye. I wanted to say goodbye though. I wanted his eyes to stare back at me just for a second to make sure this entire thing wasn't a dream.
But his breath stayed steady as he didn't even bat an eyelash. So I rolled out of bed and walked out of Calum's room into the living room. Only Michael remained in the living room, cleaning up. Calum and Maddie we're probably still asleep somewhere.
"Morning," Michael said groggily grabbing a bother of Advil and throwing it to me. I caught it, and poured two into my hand, tossing it back with no water.
"Thanks. I'll talk to you guys on Monday." I said slipping on my shoes.
"Later," Michael said continuing to stuff trash into his trash bag.
I walked out of the front door and down the road. I didn't remember who drove me over here but I knew they weren't here now. Calum barely lived three blocks away from me so I didn't mind walking. Maybe it would cure the hangover.
I walked home and through the front door. Dad's car wasn't in the driveway so I assumed he either a.) went out to breakfast or b.) left for a month.
Anyway, I walked upstairs into my room, got changed into Pajamas, and hopped back in bed. Nothing but an Angel on my mind as I drifted to sleep. ~~~~~~~
When I woke up at the banging sound at my window my room was black. How I managed to sleep until almost 6 was unbelievable to me. And even more unbelievable was the banging coming from my window.
I groaned and rolled out of bed rubbing my eyes. A face was perched in the window startling me.
I huffed as I opened up the window, Luke hemmings was sitting on my roof, rain pouring on his head. "You must have an awfully good reason to wake me up hemmings," I said glaring at the boy. "You know how much I love to sleep during rainy weather."
He didn't say anything just stared at me.
"Are you going to come in or sit there in the rain like an idiot?" I asked giving him a sarcastic smile: why was he acting so weird?
He didn't say anything again but grabbed my neck and pulled it towards him, kissing me through the window.
Shit.
I forgot.
The kiss was sweet and long. Not a drunk sloppy one like last night or like our break up kisses, it was a normal relationship kiss. One I had craved since the beginning of the year.
Luke pulled away slowly his eyes still Closed. He looked up at me through those eyes I wanted to see this morning, scanning my face for any sort of reaction.
I didn't have one.
"Well, you don't want to catch a cold," I said lightly.
He shook his head lightly, "No I don't."
He didn't move though, and neither did I. We just stared into each other's eyes like it was the only way we would survive.
"I missed you." I barely whispered. I don't know if it was audible to his ears but he seemed to read my lips.
"How did we end up here?" He asked at the same level. I shook my head lightly, "I don't know."
Thunder boomed in the near distance causing me to jump lightly, knocking me out of my trance. "I'll get you a towel." I turned around and walked into my bathroom grabbing a towel from the cabinet. I took a shaky breath and walked out, Luke was closing the window.
I handed him the towel, he thanked me and dried off his hair and clothes.
I took a seat on my bed, holding my pillow on my lap.
"What are you doing here?" I asked breaking the silence.
"You were gone when I woke up." He stated throwing the towel on my chair.
"I had to get home," I said.
He just nodded.
There was so much tension. The air was thick with it. I didn't know if that was the reason why it was so hard to breathe or the fact Luke was just standing there.
"You can uh.. sit down," I said moving over to lean against the wall giving him space. He slowly moved to sit on my bed at an awkwardly far length.
"I'm sorry about Liam." He said.
"No your not." I said back earning a quiet shake of the head from Luke, "No I'm not." Silence filled the room again.
It was unbearable.
"4 years, 6 months, and 12 days," Luke said quickly staring at my mom's guitar hung on the wall.
"What?" I asked.
"4 years, 6 months, and 12 days. We dated for 4 years, 6 months and 12 days. I always pretended like I didn't know how long we dated but I knew it down to the days." He breathed out.
I bit my bottom lip anxiously, " 8 months and 19 days."
He turned and looked at, "That's how long we've been broken up." I said avoiding his eye contact.
"Hopefully that number will stop one day." He whispered.
I nodded, "hopefully."
"I'm sorry. About everything. The fight, Jasmine, your song, everything." Luke said. I met his eyes this time nodding, "I know you are." I said.
"I don't care how long it takes you to forgive me, I'll earn it back one day okay? I promise you that." He said, a begging look in his eye.
"Keep the song," I said.
"What?"
I laughed shortly, "I remembered last night why you came up with that song." Luke looked at me confused, as far as he was concerned he wrote that song himself,
"When we took a break, after Jasmine, you came to my house drunk on a Tuesday. I didn't want you going home to your mom like that so I told you that you could sleep in my bed. You were so wasted that you told me to sing you a song to help you fall asleep. So I sang you the song I wrote thinking you'd never remember it." I laughed slightly rubbing my face.
"I am so sorry Geo," Luke said guilt on his face.
I shook my head, "like I said, keep it. Put it on your first record when you guys get big."
"I'll put your name front and center on the song credits." He said.
"I'll be counting on it." I smiled.
I hadn't even known that we had moved closer together until I could feel his breath on my face.
"I missed you too."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday morning I rushed around the kitchen, trying to grab anything and everything to shove into my mouth as some form of "breakfast." Kiara would be here in minutes and I was starving.
"Don't choke please," Dad said from the kitchen table. Surprisingly enough on Saturday, he was going to get a late breakfast and not halfway across the world.
A knock at the door sent me to look at the time, gosh Kiara had probably been waiting forever and thought I was dead.
I jogged to the door, toast crumbs were on my lips and my mouth was full. I opened the door and it was not Kiara, but the man from Friday's gig.
My face fell as I quickly swallowed my food and wiped my mouth. "Hi," I said giving the man a small smile.
"Georgina summers, Hi I'm Justin Garcia from BB records. Can I come in?" He asked motioning inside the house. Fuck school.
"Of course! My dad's just in the kitchen." I said opening up the door completely so he could walk in. He thanked me as he walked into and towards the kitchen.
"Justin! How are you, man." Dad said shaking the man's hand.
"Great as always I just wanted to stop by and talk to you and your daughter," Garcia said taking a seat at the table. I took a seat next to Dad and tapped my foot anxiously on the ground.
"Now Ms. Summers your father tells me you have no plan yet for after high school?" He asked.
"That's correct sir. I didn't want to be set on a university just yet until I had all my options opened to me." I stated.
"Well, I'm here to offer you an option. I'm one of the managers for BB Records located in Vancouver Canada and BB Records wants to sign you for a 5 year contract. That's looking about a 3 album deal, 2 North American tours, and one world tour. Depending on the outcome of things."
My hand shot over my mouth as I turned and looked at my dad. Dad just smiled at me, sick bastard already knew.
"Now I don't need a decision now-"
"Yes," I said.
"Yes?" Garcia questioned.
"Yes yes, 100 times yes," I said, a huge smile across my face.
Garcia looked at my dad who shrugged, "You heard the women. She said Yes."
Garcia smiled and held out his hand which I shook, "Welcome to the BB family. I'll be in contact with you guys for the legal work."
"Thank you, Mr. Garcia," I said.
"You going To be a legend, summer." He said giving me a brief smile. "You two have a good day."
Dad saw the man out and as the door closed he turned to me, his words laced with pride, "That's my daughter!"
I didn't hear his words as I stared down at his phone. A picture appeared with the caller's name Sarah. A picture of him, a woman, and a young boy, maybe the age of 3.
"Who's Sarah," I asked not bothering to look up from the phone.
"No-no one honey." He said laughing in between his words.
"That's not Mom's wedding ring is it," I stated more than asked.
"I was going to tell you when the time was right but-"
"You have an entirely different family!" I yelled at him standing up. "You leave me alone in this house for months. Alone. I cook, I clean, I do everything! For the last 4 years, I have lived at home without you so that you can go play house with some bitch?"
"Don't call your stepmother a bitch."
"Oh boo, you whore." I said rolling my eyes and grabbing my backpack, "bitch bitch bitch. Sarah's a bitch." I said. I slid open the answer Button On the phone call, holding the phone up to my mouth, "your a bitch." I said into it before hanging up.
"Georgina!" My dad yelled at me.
"I've been alone!" I yelled my voice breaking, "I have been without a single parental figure For four years Dad!" My voice cracked, "four years."
I pushed my way past him as I walked out the front door slamming it.
Kiara parked in the driveway sticking her head out the window, "Come on!" She yelled. I walked to the passager side door opened it, got in, and didn't say a word as we drove to school.
"I hate to ask," Kiara said.
"Dad has a wife. A kid." I said, "No business trips, just another family."
Silence filled the car once again, and for once I welcomed it.
~~~~~~~~
"I can't believe we're graduating in a few weeks, I mean That's insane," Michael said.
Calum stood up out of his seat looking around at our lunch table, arms out slightly. "I have some big news. Guess who gets to walk the stage? Me and my buddy Luke Hemmings over here!"
Maddie and the guys whooped and cheered. Who's dick did he suck to be able to do that? He sat down quickly, "I still have to take summer school though."
The boys and Willow said a collection of "same." And a few murmurs.
"What about you Gigi? What did you decide to do after school?" Maddie asked.
I messed with my fingernails, picking at the skin around them. "Canada," I said lightly.
Luke laughed, "Canada? Thought you were more of an America kind of gal."
I shrugged, "that's just where the label is."
"Label?" Luke asked.
"Shut up," Maddie said across the table.
"You didn't," Willow said a crazy smile on her face.
"What! What did she do?" Michael asked leaning across the table.
"BB Records signed me on a 5 year contract this morning," I said giving a small side smile.
Maddie screamed and practically jumped across the table to hug me. Willow hollered and cheered and Kiara just had the biggest smile on her face.
"Hell yeah!" Ashton yelled banging on the table. "Rock star Georgina Summers!" Calum yelled. "Shit Gigi that's awesome!" Michael said.
"What the fuck!" Luke yelled as Maddie pulled away, him now pulling me into a tight hug. He kissed the side of my head as he pulled away, he held my face between his hands smiling widely at me. "That's amazing! I'm so proud of you."
I smiled back at his words taking in every ounce of his face. "Thank you, Luke.
"What the fuck." Willow said making me turn to look at my friends who were staring at me and Luke.
"that's new," Calum stated
"Did you just call him Luke?" Maddie asked.
"Called it!" Willow said banging on the table, "They hooked up. Ashton, $10!"
I watched as Ahston sighed and pulled out his wallet.
"We will get back to you and Luke. But right now we're talking about BB. They saw you at Jordan's?" Kiara asked.
I nodded and shrugged, "Yeah. Came by the morning And asked how I felt about it."
"That's some dream come true stuff right there. Imagine if that happened for our band." Calum said hitting Ashton's shoulder. Ashton smiled lazily and daydreamed about the day 5 seconds of summer would be signed to a record label.
"I am happy for you." Michael smiled at me.
"Thank you guys it means a lot. You all Can visit me in Canada alright?" I smiled.
They nodded lightly.
I can't believe everything was ending. Two weeks left of school, and it would all be done. The boys would stay here, Kiara to America, Maddie to England, Willow to Spain, and me to Canada. It made me wonder what would happen to us.
Your head the stories of best friends in high school who never stay best friends. They grow up and move on.
It only made me wonder, in the next 5 years, when my contract with BB Records ran out, who would I still talk to, and who would I pass on the street?
----
Dad left.
The only thing left was an envelope of cash on the fridge and a note that said CALL GARCIA.
So I picked up the phone and dialed the number on the card, placing it up to my ear.
"Hello?" Garcia said.
"Hey!" I wiped my eyes lightly, "Uh it's Georgina Summers? My dad told me to call you?"
"Gigi! Perfect. I just wanted to call and talk to you about moving everything forward." Garcia said into the phone. Forward? We were already moving so fast. I mean, a few days ago I went down to his Sydney office and signed the papers. I was set to start in June, which was only weeks away.
"Forward?" I asked.
"Yes. I talked to your school and you're able to still get your high school diploma if you leave a few weeks early." A few weeks early? How much earlier could I already leave, I mean there were only a few weeks more of school.
"Uhh... okay? I mean how much is earlier?"
"Sunday."
"Sunday? As in this Sunday?"I asked.
"Georgina, you'll realize this whenever you start learning more about the music business, it's all a race. You have a unique voice and if you don't start soon, someone else is going to come, slightly better, and steal your stardom beneath your feet before you can even move to Canada."
I shook my head lightly, pressing my tongue to the inside of my cheek.
"Can you do that?" He asked at my silence.
I looked over to the fridge, and a photo of the 8 of us was hung up with a magnet. It was from about a year ago, Willow had Ashton in a headlock on the grass. Kiara and Michael were sitting on the grass staring up at Maddie who was on Calum's shoulders screaming at Calum to put him down. I was hung from Luke's waist upside down laughing as Luke held my back in support laughing down at me also. Luke's mom took the photo I think, I wasn't sure.
"Yeah." I muttered, "That should be fine."
~~~~~~~
"Hey," Luke said opening up the front door slightly so I could step in. We were finishing our questions today and then we'd do our essays on our own summarizing our experiences and what these results mean.
"Hey," I said back.
Lately, it was weird but also not weird between me and Luke. It was just new. Us not hating eachother, but also not in a relationship. So it was just kinda weird.
I walked to his room and sat down on the corner of his bed opening up my journal from my backpack. He sat done on the other end lying against the headboard. "Ready for this project to be over?" He asked.
No.
"Yeah," I muttered lightly flipping to the questions I had written down. I scanned over the questions and landed my eyes on question 16.
"What is your favorite core memory?" I asked him.
Luke's eyebrows scrunched for a second as he thought. He smiled just a tad.
I knew my answer to the question. It was an easy one, it happened two years ago when we were in
"grade 10." Luke said finishing the words I had only spoken in my head, "We were going to a formal at some school that wasn't even ours but you found the event on Facebook and RSVP for us to go. And then we got kicked out and had to walk home all the way from the other side of town because we didn't want to call my mom to pick us up."
I couldn't help but smile alittle bit and scribble down the answer, "I'd say we're getting better at this agreeing thing."
2/16 was a horrible score, but it was good for us.
"Lemme read one," Luke said easing across to grab the notebook. "There's no question twenty." He stated. I looked at the paper and shrugged. 19 questions didn't have that good of a ring to it.
He scanned his eyes down the paper, "Okay. Finish this statement, I wish I could have someone to share my blank with." He looked up at me, "we can answer at the same time for This one I guess." He put down his fingers one by one counting down.
"Experiences."
"Experiences."
Silence filled the space between us and I just nodded. "3/17."
"What's one thing we're always short of?" He asked.
I thought back to the phone call I had made earlier. "Time," I mumbled.
Luke just nodded handing back the notebook, "4/18."
The last question.
The last question and then the group aspect of the project was over. One more question and then no more surface level deep conversation with Luke, no more reason to come to his house, no more reason to hang out with him. One last question and I would be halfway across the world. One more question and me and Luke would be strangers. Because the one thing we lacked was time.
"What is one thing you regret letting go," I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
We didn't answer the question.
Our eyes lingered on eachother for what seemed like minutes as we held the same expression. Luke Hemmings was beautiful in this moment.
"5/19." He whispered.
~~~~~~~~~
Friday I walked into my English class before school to hand in my English project. It was due on Monday but I was leaving on Sunday so I decided to turn it in early rather than never at all.
"Hi Mr. Corder, I just wanted to give you my essay," I said holding it out to him. He smiled at me and grabbed it placing his glasses over eyes scanning over the work.
"You and your partner both turned it in early, I'm impressed." He said placing it on the table.
My eyebrows scrunched, "Luke turned his in already?" I asked.
The teacher nodded, opened up a folder, and pulled out an essay scribbled on the back of a math homework assignment. "I never specified what paper to write it on." He mumbled, his eyes scanning over the essay.
"However I was quite surprised with the quality of his essay. You two are close, no?" He asked.
I shrugged, "use to be."
He Ahhed in recognition before setting the paper down on his desk and sliding it across the table. "Then I suggest you bring this paper back to my next period."
I stared down at the essay. Luke hemmings name was sprawled at the top in red ink. I shouldn't.
"Next period?" I gulped likely.
"Next period." He repeated.
I couldn't.
I slid the paper into my hands folded it on the already made crease and stuffed it into my pocket.
But I did.
Mr. Corder just nodded at me as I turned around and walked quickly out of the room.
I mean, it was just an English essay. Nothing more. Luke wouldn't care if I took a look at it I'm sure.
I walked outside of the school not bothering if I was late or missed 1st period entirely. I slid down the brick wall until my legs touched the ground. Sliding the paper out of my pocket, I opened it and read the entirety of the essay. I always hated Luke's handwriting.
Luke hemmings Period 4 English 4 OL Essay
My partner for this assignment was Georgina Summers. During this assignment, I learned that she and I are nothing alike. Out of 19 questions we had 5 similar answers. We couldn't agree on the simple things like what was better, pirates or ninjas (ninjas obviously.) Me and Georgina were nothing alike and were two totally opposite people. We have the same favorite memory. I don't care if we agreed on if the earth was flat or not, I care that we have the same favorite memory. This test was a load of bullshit (sorry). It did not show the compatibility of the testers or the likeness, it was just some bullshit (sorry) English assignment to get us to talk about our feelings. I may not agree on what the best song in the world is, but I knew her answer before the words Activity Grrrl came out of her mouth. I don't think Converse is better than Vans but I know the color of every pair in her closet. I know how much she loves iced coffee because every Thursday before school all grade 9, she would get a medium iced coffee and bring me a small hot coffee. I knew she believed in fate because she used to say fate made her move here. I never believed in fate because if it was so real, why did it bring us apart? One of the answers we did agree on was that we were running out of time. She was leaving soon so that's why I did the essay early because I knew if she left before I started it, I'd never finish it. So Fuck (sorry) fate for bringing her into my life because it hurts to see her go. So at the end of this, yes we only agreed on 5/19 questions, but none of those matter. It doesn't matter if we got 0/20 similar because I knew the answer before it came out of her mouth. So screw the nineteen questions, the last question I needed answered is what happens now. We were so close.
One Rubix cube moves away. One puzzle piece to go. One more question. It was a tied game and we were left in overtime.
Time left on the clock: the rest of our lives.
Chapter 6
WC: 4648
"What is your favorite song?" I asked Luke as we sat in his bedroom. I sat on the floor and he lay on his bed playing with a guitar pick.
"About a girl. Nirvana." He said.
I scribbled it down on my paper, I think that has been his favorite song since we first met.
"And you? Lemme guess, activity grrrl." He said.
"You know me so well," I said rolling my eyes.
It had also been my favorite song since we first met.
"What is your biggest accomplishment?" I asked reading off the list. Luke didn't say anything for a moment but simply shrugged. "The band I guess."
Scribbling it down, he rolled over on his side looking at me, "What's yours?"
I grazed my tongue over my teeth thinking, the band was great but it would be over soon. "Making great friends," I said.
"Sappy." He said rolling back on his back.
"Do you believe in fate?" I asked.
He scoffed, "No." That was all he said.
I wrote down his no and my yes, not bothering to tell him my answer. "What is your biggest regret in life?"
Silence filled the room. These questions went from pirates or ninjas to your sworn regrets.
"I think mine..." I started, "..letting people change me."
Luke never met my eyes but stared at the ceiling nodding slightly. "Mines dating Jasmine."
I stifled a laugh and scribbled down his answer.
"What's so funny?" He asked an amused smile on his face as he rolled over.
"Come on, you seriously regret dating Jasmine more than me?" I asked giving him a crooked smile.
He nodded slowly, his smile dimming, "Yeah. I do."
My smile was gone now as I stared into his eyes swallowing lightly. "Last question," I said barely above a whisper.
"Do you Believe in second chances?" I breathed out.
He never took his eyes away from me, Staring daggers into my own eyes.
I watched as he nodded slowly, "Yeah. I do."
I nodded back at him. "Me too."
1/15.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday night came faster than I was prepared for and I had one last thing to do before I went. It was currently 3, right after school and the bands started performing at 7.
But here I was, knocking on the front door holding a cheap bag filled with stuff from the local grocery store.
The red haired boy opened up the door, he almost sighed when he saw me. "Hey, Gigi." I was ashamed of the brown hair covering my head at that moment. I had been avoiding Michael Clifford for the past week because I was well, embarrassed. Running from all emotions of doing what was right.
"I'm... sorry." I breathed out, "Really Mikey I am. I was just so caught up in what Liam wanted that I forgot I had other people in my life as well. It's not even just the hair anymore, it's me ignoring you for a week. It's me being a terrible friend and I just hope that you can forgive me in time."
Michael had a small smile across his face as he held the door wider so I could come in.
I smiled greatfully stepping in the house.
"What's in the bag." He asked skeptically.
I handed it out to him causing him to grab it and look inside.
"No... really?" He asked looking at me surprised.
"Only if you're up for it," I said.
Mikey just laughed and shook his head. "is that even a question?"
~~~~~~~~~
"Give it up for the Road Smashers!" The host yelled into the microphone, the crowd cheering clapping their hands. Dad was somewhere in the back as I stood at a standing table drinking water next to my bandmates.
"Hey!" I heard yelling over the crowd, I looked over to see Liam leaning up against the table.
"I'm sorry!" He yelled.
I nodded in acknowledgment, "It's fine!"
"Your hair." He stated, "It looks... pink."
I cocked my head slightly taking a sip of my water, "that's because it is!"
"Give it up for our next band, 5 seconds of summer!" I adverted my gaze away from Liam and to the stage where Ashton was behind the drums, swirling his sticks around before pointing them at me and my band.
Calum smiled and winked at Maddie who let out a large scream along with other girls from the crowd.
Michael ran a hand through his newly dyed pink hair and I raised my glass at him, tipping it towards him.
And Luke stayed in the middle, not looking at me, but rather at the boy standing next to me.
"This song is a new one. Goes out to a very lovely lady, and her sucky ass boyfriend." Luke said into the microphone.
My eyebrows fell as I straightened my posture. He wouldn't dare.
"You got a boyfriend and he's a total loser. All your friends tell you that he's got no future But they like me. Just sayin"
Oh, he wouldnt dare.
Luke's eyes didn't differ from mine and Liam the entire consistency of the song. I knew it was directed at me but Liam looked as if he was still figuring it out. "He's staring at us," Liam stated.
I sighed and rested my face on my hand, "yep."
"He says he loves you, but it's all an act He's seeing someone else right behind your back You know I'd never do that, just saying."
Did Luke Hemmings just accuse my boyfriend of cheating on me in a song he wrote?
I gritted my teeth lightly slamming my cup down on the table.
"You know, he's not that good of a singer," Liam said. I knew He wasn't dumb, but he sure acted like it most of the time.
The song finished and they paraded off the stage into the crowd.
"Give it up for 5 seconds of summer. Next up! Green vendors!"
We were set 6 out of 10 tonight, so I had about 3 more songs to mentally prepare myself. I looked behind me to see my dad standing next to who I assumed was the manager he had been talking about.
"Hey. You're going to do great." Kiara said coming up behind me with a drink.
"Thanks," I mumbled in response. I was a person of little faith. I sighed, "I just don't like the song."
"We can change it if you want." Willow said, "We're here for you tonight."
"I'm okay with that." Maddie nodded.
I sighed and looked to my right, Luke hemmings was standing there smiling down at Jazzy before kissing her lightly. Regret my ass.
"Actually.." I mumbled thinking of his song. "I have the perfect song."
Willow nodded and grabbed Kiara's beer from her hand taking a long sip before handing it back. "Mate," Kiara said rolling her eyes at Willow.
"Next up! Sugars." The host said.
I started to push my way through the crowd when Liam grabbed my wrist, "Hey." He said, "You're going to kill it."
I smiled lightly and kissed his cheek, "thanks."
"Gigi! Come on." Willow huffed calling me. I turned around and quickly jogged to the stage and up the steps.
"This song." I stared into the microphone fixing my guitar strap, "This song is dedicated to a shit girl and an even shitter boy."
I glanced over at Luke whose face was limp, he pulled his arm off from around Jazzy.
"Are we seriously playing that one song we wrote as a joke last week?" Kiara asked leaning up to me.
I sent her a smile and strummed a cord on my guitar.
"This is a shout out to my ex Heard he in love with some other chick Yeah yeah, that hurt me, I'll admit Forget that boy, I'm over it I hope she gettin' better sex Hope she ain't fakin' it like I did, babe Took four long years to call it quits Forget that boy, I'm over it"
It was so bloody obvious about Luke.
The pettiest song my band had written, but hey. You fight fire, With more fire.
I didn't look at Luke once throughout our set but tried my best to be stage present for the crowd and more importantly, the manager in the back.
The set finished, and the crowd cheered along with my friends, Willow planted a sloppy kiss on my cheek, Maddie hugged me and Kiara squeezed my shoulder.
We walked off stage, Maddie kissed Calum, Michael and Ashton told us we were awesome and Luke just sent me a tight smile.
"Babe that was awesome," Liam said smiling at me.
"Give it up for Target Audience!"
Liam's band was called.
"Break a leg," I said smiling. Break an actual leg.
"Alwasy do babe." He hesitated to kiss my cheek before he ran up the stage with his band. He started singing and to be honest, he wasn't bad, but it still made me want to strip out my ears.
"Hey!" Someone said tapping my shoulder. I turned around to see a tall girl, older than me by what looked like a few years.
"I just wanted to introduce myself! I'm Jessie Payne." She said holding out her hand which I shook. The last name took me by surprise, "hi! Georgina summers. Are you related to Liam?" I motioned to Liam who was on stage.
She smiled and shook her head side to side as if to say 'so so'. "Well, I suppose. He's my husband."
My face fell as I stared at the women. "Excuse me?" I asked.
She waved me off, "I know! Surprising right? He didn't tell me much about you either so I guess who didn't even know I existed! That's so cool that he got in touch with his cousin after all these years. I'm so glad you guys are so close already!" She sent me a big smile.
Oh, this poor girl.
"Gigi after party at Calums! Who's this?" Ashton said giving the girl a flirty smile.
"Jessie Payne." She said smiling at Ashton.
"Liam's wife," I said through gritted teeth.
Ashton's smile fell as he turned around and looked at the stage. "Wife?" He asked no one in particular.
"I know. Such a surprise. How could I have married such a catch like him." She said shaking her head and Smiling.
"Did Liam invite you?" I asked.
She shook her head, "Oh no he never lets me come to any of his gigs. I actually was invited by a young man on Facebook." She snapped her fingers thinking, "himbo1999? No. Hector1999? It definitely started with an H."
"Hemmo1996." Ashton sighed running a hand lazily through his hair.
"Exactly! You know him? Is he here? I'd like to thank-"
The music stopped and the crowd cheered. "Ooo he's coming! I can't wait to surprise him." Jess said smiling happily.
I watched as Lima walked off stage and to where I was standing. "Babe enjoy the show?" He asked me smiling.
"Of course I did!" Jessie answered smiling earning a sudden look of fear on Liams face.
"Babe? babe! Yeah hey, babe! What- what are you doing here?" He asked slowly hugging the girl.
"Suprise!" She smiled.
"Surprise." He said his voice wavering lightly with a small laugh at the end.
"I met your cousin! She is just lovely." Jess said smiling at me.
"Cousin?" Ashton asked allowed. "Oh, mate. You fucked up."
"Yeah cousin, you fucked up," I growled at Liam.
"Geo I can explain-" he started.
"No no, I know what's going on. No need to explain to me. I want you to explain to her." I said motioning to his wife.
She looked at me dumbfounded, "explain what?"
"Nothing honey. Geo-"
"No, it's not nothing. Explain or I will." I said crossing my arms.
"Geo-"
"What's going on?" Jess asked, "What do I need explained to me?"
"I can't," Liam said to me sorrowfully.
"Great." I said sarcastically, "I'm not Liam's cousin. We've been dating for a few weeks and I suggest you two go have this conversation elsewhere because you owe her some privacy."
Jess didn't say anything neither did Liam. Liam stared off into space and Jess stared at him. "W-what?" Jess asked.
"Let's talk outside," Liam mumbled lightly pulling the girl lightly by the wrist out the doors into the moonlight.
"Gigi, are you okay?" Ash asked me gulping lightly.
Tears were in my eyes but I blinked them back nodding, "Yeah." I mumbled.
My eyes went around the crowd, they eventually landed on Luke who just stared back. This asshole told me I was being cheated on through a song.
Fuck Luke Hemmings. Fuck Liam Payne. Fuck me.
----
I stood in Calum's kitchen looking at the alcohol on his back counter. I didn't like drinking, to be honest, however, for the events that happened tonight, I rightfully deserved one.
So I grabbed a plastic cup, poured a shot into it, and down it back. My face grimaced and I shook my head lightly before pouring one more.
"I'd always be happy that you drinking but sad drinks are never good," Willow said walking up behind me as I sloshed back the second shot.
"Well, I need it," I grumbled grabbing the bottle once again before Willow pulled it away from me.
"Two is enough for right now." She said like a parent. "Here." Willow popped the tab of the beer she was holding and poured it into my cup. "Sipping drink." She said.
Kiara would have given me water, but I assumed beer was water to Willow.
"Thanks," I mumbled sipping it lightly.
Willow smiled before grabbing a plastic cup and pouring liquor into it as I walked out of the kitchen.
It was just my band and Calum's band here so we lay sprawled out across Calum's living room, a CD playing in the CD player.
The atmosphere was weird. It was tense but no one mentioned it or let it affect the laughter in the conversation. Everyone knew the songs we sang had been about me and Luke but no one dared to mention it.
"Finally! Took you forever to get a drink." Maddie said patting the spot next to her on the couch. Honestly, I did not want to sit there and be third wheeling with her and Calum, but I did.
"How's yours and Luke's project coming?" Calum asked, his arm slung around Maddie.
I shrugged taking a sip of my drink, "We have agreed on 1 out of 15."
"Really?" Maddie asked, "Me and Calum are 14/15. Disagreed on best song."
"Well, that's why you two are the perfect couple," I said smiling at the two. Maddie beamed and looked up at Calum who smiled down at her kissing her temple. "Of course we are." That seemed to be the theme of this project. The more you got alike, the better you two were better friends, partners, lovers. What 1/15 said, I didn't know.
The front door opened and Luke walked in, "Hey guys, sorry I'm late." He said holding a case of beer, his arm wrapped around the waist of Jasmine Hodge. I didn't acknowledge his presence but only stared at them with a tight breath caught in my throat. I lifted my cup to my lips and downed the rest of the beer like it was a shot.
Siping drink my ass.
~~~~~~~~~
The night was long.
Actually, I couldn't remember if it was that long or not. I was really interested in the hole in the wall.
"Shhhh you can't tell Calum." Michael giggled to me pressing his pointer finger against my lip. I shook my head holding back a fit of laughter before pressing my own finger to Michael's lips. "Shhh," I mumbled against his finger.
Michael turned to the wall next to us, a frame was hung up about a foot over from the hole. Michael pulled it off the hook and held it over the hole, hanging it. He let go and the frame fell to the ground shattering, Probably from the fact he tried to hang it on nothing.
"Michaellllll." I slurred pouting my bottom lip out. "We have to tell Calum now."
"Shhhhhhhh you promised!" He wined like a child.
"But there's glass everywhere," I mumbled looking at the floor.
"Shhhh." He said again before running away.
I pouted my bottom lip out again before walking back to the living room couch and lying across it.
"Hey, babes." Kiara said walking up, "Need some water?" She held out a bottle of water to me causing me to sigh and shake my head.
"I'm not ready to be sober yet," I said cuddling into the couch cushions.
"Well, no more drinks." She said. Bossy.
I wined and threw my head back annoyed. "Fine Mom."
Kiara just sent me a smile and placed the water next to me on the couch. I sighed and just grabbed it, putting it on my head as an ice pack. My head really hurt from hitting the wall.
I rolled over to look at my friends.
Willow was talking to Ashton, they were both drunk but didn't act drunk. They were probably talking about drum stuff. Kiara was making Michael sweep up the glass as she tried to hand him a bottle of water. Calum and Maddie were nowhere to be found. Gross. And then Luke and Jasmine were sat in the kitchen. Luke was drunk out of his mind but I hadn't seen Jazzy drink a single thing all night. I hadn't seen a lot of things but that's beside the point.
I rolled off the couch and walked slowly towards the kitchen. Kiara was occupied which meant I could get one more drink before she realized. So I slipped into the Kitchen, quickly and messily pouring a shot, or two, I didn't know how to measure shots, into a cup and quickly downed both of them back.
They didn't make my face grimace anymore which Kiara always said was a "sign to stop" but why would you stop when it got better?
"Hey! Pour me one!" Luke pointed at me from the table.
I grabbed a cup and poured a few glugs of the liquid into the cup before stumbling lightly over to the table and sitting it down infront of him.
"You have a heavy hand," Luke said taking about half of the liquid.
"Welcome." I smiled at him before turning around and walking into the living room.
"Game time!" Michael yelled jumping onto the floor. That looked like it hurt.
"I like games," I said sitting down across from him.
"I know you do that's why I said game time." He rolled his eyes at me.
"Calum!" He yelled loudly.
The coat closet door opened and Calum stuck his head out, "yep?" He asked.
"Game time," Michael said.
"Sweet!" He closed the door once more and then came out with Maddie following behind him.
Eventually, we all sat in a circle, it went Michael, Calum, Maddie, Kiara, Me, Jasmine, Willow, Ashton, Luke, and then back to Michael. How I got sat next to the bitch, I couldn't answer. Or Remeber.
Michael grabbed a beer bottle from behind him, popping the top off before Chugging it completely. "Michael." Kiara scolded. Michael finished off the drink, burped, and then placed it in the center.
"Truth or dare." Michael smiled proudly.
"I'll go first," Willow said leaning into the middle and spinning the bottle. It landed on Kiara. Willow smiled wickedly, "Truth or dare."
"Truth," Kiara said.
"Boo. You're no fun." Willow complained, "fine. Who's the last person you hooked up with?"
Kiara scoffed placing her tongue in between her teeth and shaking her head, "I am not answering that."
"You have to. That's the rule." I said leaning back on my palms.
Kiara rolled her eyes, "then I'm not playing."
"You can answer the question," Michael said.
She leaned into the Circle grasping the bottle, "Clifford." She spun the bottle not giving anyone a chance to process the words she had spewed out.
Ashton coughed, choking on his drink and Maddie let out a cheer. "Fuck yeah!" She said earning a side smile from Kiara. Michael just blushed.
The bottle came to a stop on Calum who smiled. "Dare."
Kiara smiled, "you got eggs in your fridge?" She asked.
Calum nodded slightly confused, "great. Eat one."
"Like.. raw?"
"Shell and all." Kiara smiled.
I grimaced lightly, "Eww."
Calum stood up, walked to the fridge, opened it, and grabbed a single egg. "No, do it over there. I'm not cleaning up your puke." Maddie said motioning to the sink.
Calum stood in Infront of the sink, staring at the egg in his hand. I put my hands over my eyes, still peaking, disgusting. He put the egg in his mouth and crunched down. Yolk dribbled out from between his lips and he gagged puking the contents of his stomach up into the sink.
"That's disgusting," Ashton said, his hand over his own mouth. Ashton was bad when people puked, he couldn't stand it.
"You better not throw up ash," Luke warned pushing himself away from Ashton.
Ashton shook his head staring at the floor as he was trying not to puke also. Calum gaged once more and that sent Ashton flying up towards the trash can in the kitchen.
"Ew," Jasmine muttered closing her eyes.
"Someone spin for Calum," I muttered as Maddie reached into the center and spun the bottle.
It landed on Jasmine Hodge who looked at us nervously. I mean I would two if I wasn't even in this friend group.
"Uhh, truth." She said.
"Calum Jazzy said truth," Michael called to Calum.
He was still hunched over the sink, spitting raw eggs out of his mouth. "Why are you such a bitch." He grumbled out right before he puked again. Ashton soon after.
"Calum." Maddie scolded.
I snorted lightly before shaking my head, apologizing into the air.
"That's honestly more a statement," Luke said not even defending his girlfriend, he was too drunk to do that.
"Uh.." jazzy said scratching her neck awkwardly.
"Just spin," Kiara said to Jasmine ignoring Calum.
Jasmine spun the bottle and it slowly stopped on Luke. She smiled as she got the person she wanted, "Truth or dare babe."
Luke drummed on the ground, "Dare. Give me a hard one."
Jasmine cocked her head smiling, "such a hard one. I dare you to kiss the prettiest girl in the room."
Deja vu hit and just like that, I was sober.
Every single shot that had entered my body was now gone and I sat there silent. My body was no longer numb anymore and heartache filled the void. From Liam cheating on me to the words that came out of Jasmine Hodge's mouth.
Willow scoffed before shaking her head lightly.
Luke shrugged crawling on the floor towards Jasmine's direction who was sitting next to me. He had a large smile on his face as he sat down infront of us.
I didn't know what I felt for Luke but this, this was torture. Who did I wrong to have any of these things happen to me?
Gosh, I hated him.
I hated Luke Hemmings more than death itself.
He was a selfish asshole who only thought about himself. He stole my fucking song and won't admit to it. He kissed Jasmine Hodge when we were dating. He said Horrible things to me.
Luke Hemmings was the scum of the earth and we were all just living in it.
Luke Hemmings was the devil wearing your mom's skinny jeans. His stupid hair quiff and his stupid eyes were piercing into my soul.
Luke Hemminhs lips were on mine.
I didn't think I had ever been more sober in my entire life.
It had been months. Months since I felt those lips and suddenly I didn't want anything else. Because Luke Hemings was a drug. It will eventually kill you but gosh was it addicting.
~~~~~~
I knocked on Luke's door, my face red From crying just moments early. I'm sure I looked like a mess but it wasn't every day when you woke up to see your song was in the school newspaper and online with over 100k views. I mean we were just on a break right now, it hadn't even been that long of a break, a month at most by this point.
But you don't do this sorta thing. You don't steal your girlfriend's song, change some pronouns, and call it your own.
So again, I banged harshly on Luke Hemmings's front door.
"I'm coming! I'm coming!" He yelled through the door as I heard the latch Unlock and the door opened. His face fell, "Hey Geo." He said. It had been awkward between me and Luke this past month. I mean, for the past 4 years we had been girlfriend and boyfriend, and now. Now we were strangers.
"Don't hey me." I snarled at him pushing myself into his own house. His mom was at work so I didn't care about how I presented myself.
"Woah woah. What's up?" He asked.
"My song? Did you really have to go and steal my song?" I said angrily to him.
"Your song?" He defends.
"Yes, my song!" I told him throwing my song journal at him which he caught. "I wrote amnesia, not you. Why would you steal my song? Pissed I broke up with you?"
"Geo, my friends are upstairs, can we do this later? Or at your place at least?" He asked looking in the journal.
" screw your Friends. Why would you do that to me?" I asked looking at him, my voice cracking lightly.
"I don't know where you came up with this idea that I stole it from you, but I wrote amnesia all by myself." He said throwing the notebook in the chair next to him.
"Bullshit. You can't come up with the same exact song. You're just upset I broke it off is that right?" I huffed.
"Call me anything you want. A shit boyfriend, a shit friend, but don't accuse me of stealing." He said pointing a finger at me.
"You better get that finger out of my face," I said Calmly.
He didn't budge.
"I bet you steal all your songs, don't you? And then go and cheat on all your girlfriends hmm?" I said pushing down his finger, aging the situation on even more. I didn't care.
"I told you Jasmine was a mistake." He said. "Maybe a mistake just like you."
Silence filled the room and we stared at eachother, the words were lingering as if they weren't real.
"Oh fuck you," I said groaning and turning around to walk deeper into the living room. "Your such an Ass! You've always been a fucking ass. You know I don't know how I put up with you for 4 years of my life!" I yelled at him.
"I'm an ass? Says the one who's late to every event, Comes to zero of my gigs, and yells at me for failing my classes." He yelled back at me.
"You the one who's afraid to tell his mommy why he and his girlfriend don't hang out anymore!" I fired back.
"Yeah well, at least I have a mom to talk to." He snarled at me.
"At least I have a dad who wants me," I said before I could control the words coming out of my mouth.
"Does he though? Where is he now? Texas with my dad? Or maybe.. maybe he's with your mom." Luke said walking slowly up to me. "Seems your batting zero."
"Oh fuck you." I said through unbelievable laughter, tears spreading through my eyes, "fuck. You. Hemmings." I turned around and walked towards his front door.
"Walk away like alwasy bitch!" He called after me.
I sent him the middle finger as I threw the door open and slammed it shut, the house vibrating from the impact of the door.
Walk away like always bitch
Chapter 5
wc: 3304
There were only two people who I didn't want to see today and somehow I saw them both minutes from eachother.
To clear my head from all the crazy things that were said yesterday I went on a walk. Walking was nice, it allowed me to clear my mind, which was exactly what I needed.
That was until it became stressful on the walk home. I was about 3 houses away from mine when I saw my dad's car parked in the driveway. Not only was his car there, but also him, unloading his suitcase from the back.
"Shit," I muttered under my breath, I did not want to see him at all right now. I did not need to see him right now. My breath hitched as I thought of the same conversation we would have every time he'd come home. Dad always gave me anxiety and just the thought of him sent me into an anxiety attack.
I looked around quickly for somewhere to hide or someone I knew so they could hide me but my eyes just landed on Luke hemmings house. "I'm going to regret this," I mumbled walking quickly across Luke's lawn to the side of his house where his window was. His room was on the first story so I just banged harshly on it.
The blinds went up and an annoyed half asleep shirtless Luke stood there.
"Please." I mouthed lightly causing him to sigh and open up the window. I sighed in relief as I climbed in and slid down the wall underneath it.
"I was sleeping so fucking good." Luke grumbled closing the window, "You better have a good fucking reason why- what's wrong?"
I had gotten pretty good at calming my own anxiety attacks since I was normally.. alone.
I held up a finger to him closing my eyes as I leaned my head against the window seal. Luke sat down in Infront of me, "Hey hey, it's alright." He said. "You can stay here if you want till your dad leaves. Or I'll call Ash or Kiara to pick you up."
"I just- I just need a second okay?" I huffed probably more aggressively than I needed to be and probably more aggressively than I could be. It made me lose my breath again and squeeze my eyes alittle harder trying to count my breaths. Just breathe Georgina this is embarrassing.
Luke tapped the floor anxiously, I couldn't see him because my eyes were closed but he used to always panic when I had anxiety attacks when we were dating.
A soft play of a guitar caused me to open my eyes. Luke strummed some random cords lightly on it looking at me with a concerned face. He used to always sing to me during anxiety attacks because it seemed to be the only thing that would calm me down.
'I like the summer rain
I like the sounds you make
We put the world away
We got so disconnected
You are my getaway
You are my favorite place
We put the world away
Yeah we're so disconnected
And by the end of the course, I was always fine.
So Luke and I sat in now silence that was boarder line awkward staring at eachother.
"Thanks," I said barely above a whisper.
He didn't say anything back, didn't move a mussel, just stared back. I debated whether to say it again alittle louder in case he didn't hear me.
The sudden trance broke as he threw his guitar softly on the bed. "I'll call ash." He said reaching into his pocket to grab his phone.
"No no, it's fine." I said, "I have to go home eventually." I pushed myself off the ground and stood up leaving Luke on the ground, his hands rested together around his knees.
"Thanks," I mumbled. "I'll see you at school."
He gave me a tight smile and a lift of a hand before I climbed out the window. I turned around to watch him close his window slowly meeting my eyes once more.
~~~~
"Georgia!" My dad called as I walked through the front door. He wrapped his arms around me hugging me tightly.
"Hey, dad," I mumbled lightly hugging him back.
"I'm making dinner." My dad said, "Come sit down and tell me all about school." He said pulling away and walking to the kitchen.
"I have plans," I said. I didn't but I'd make some.
"Well, can't you cancel them for some time with your old man?" He asked turning around and giving me a half smile.
"No, it's important plans," I stated.
Dad messed with the wedding ring on his finger. It made me smile that he was wearing Mom's again, "actually I can stay for alittle bit." I said lightly walking to the kitchen.
"How long are you staying for?" I asked my dad ready for his usual answer of a week or days.
"Few weeks." My dad said smiling catching me by surprise. "I should be here for the rest of your school year."
I nodded lightly.
Dad sent me a smile and sat across from me at the table. "So? How's school?" He asked. I nodded lightly, pulling strings out of the rips of my jeans. "It's fine. Sucks." I laughed awkwardly, it felt like I was talking to a stranger. It always felt like I was talking to a stranger.
"I bet. Hey, the year is almost over, and then university. Got any plans for that?" Dad asked. I shrugged, "Not sure I really wanna go. You know I'm doing my thing with music and after Willow, Kiara, and Willow are all going away so I have to find something new to do."
Dad tapped his finger on the table the other hand on his face, thinking. "I know a guy. Um.. a music guy. Producer, I think? Or maybe it was a manager? Anyways I can uh get him to come to one of your gigs. If you wanted to stick with music."
I scrunched my eyebrows, "really?" I asked surprised. I mean throughout all my life the most my dad has ever done for me was leave.
"Yeah when's your next gig I'll give me a call," Dad said pulling out his phone.
"Friday. 7:00 At Jordan's." I smiled lightly. "Uh, thanks."
He nodded and typed some stuff into his phone. "Of course. Go do what you need to do. Well, go out for dinner one date his week."
I nodded and stood up, almost feeling guilty for leaving now since he was so nice. But my mind went back to the wedding ring causing me to give my dad a smile before walking towards the door.
Maybe it would all go back to normal.
----
"Oh, you didn't." Luke's amused voice rang throughout the hallway as I walked into school. He stood there with my friends, laughing and clapping in disbelief. "She did it! You actually took orders from that asshole!"
I gritted my teeth at Luke as I tightened my hand on my backpack walking up to my friends.
"This is new," Kiara said holding a hand out to touch my brunette hair.
"My hair was dead. That's why I dyed it back." I stated more to Luke than anyone else. "No other reason."
I didn't meet Michael's eye contact, however. It would have been easy for me to call him up yesterday and dye our hair back naturally together as we had talked about. But I didn't. And now I could feel his eyes shooting daggers into the side of my head. For once in 4 years, me and Michael Clifford did not have the same color hair nor did we dye it together.
"Where's your piercings," Willow asked me grabbing my face with her hand and moving it around to look at the now empty holes in my face. "Open." I opened my mouth lightly and she looked at the empty hole in my tongue.
"No lip ring. No nose rings. No tongue piercing. No dyed hair. What the hell is wrong with you." Maddie asked.
Luke's hand now went to my face instead of willows as he stared at my lip, eyebrows scrunched. "You took out the lip ring?"
I pushed his hand off of my face and held up my hands in surrender. "Yes! I dyed my hair back and took out my piercings okay? It's not a big deal."
"It's a big deal when you don't do that sorta thing," Ashton said. "This hasn't got anything to do with Liam does it?"
I shook my head, "of course not."
Luke scoffed, "Of course it does. At dinner that's all he would talk about was what he wanted to change about you."
I huffed, "And all you talked about was my head game! So you have no right to talk. Your girlfriend was right there. What kind of asshole are you?"
"At least I'm honest. At least I don't change who I am for my partner." Luke said.
I rolled my eyes and held up my hands, "I'm going to class. I'll see you guys later." I turned around and walked in the direction of my class.
"Gigi," Kiara called after me walking briskly after me. "Talk to me, babes."
I sighed and stopped turning around, "there's nothing to talk about. It's just hair."
Kiara looked at me like I had 7 heads and 3 eyes. "It's never been just hair to you."
I laughed "You guys are blowing this way out of proportion. I dyed my hair. Not shaved it."
"Now I know you guys aren't sticking with the band during university because, well, we can't. But I still want to stick with music. A music producer... manager.. someone is coming to our show on Friday. If you guys don't mind." I messed with the hem of my shirt lightly, I mean it was a kinda big thing I expected them to be okay with. A producer for me, not the band.
Kiara smiled lightly and nodded, "I'm sure that won't be a problem."
I smiled at her and hugged her. "Thank you," I mumbled into her ear.
"But you gotta put at least one piercing back in for it!" Kiara said sternly pulling away. "It's... freaky."
~~~~
The doorbell rang causing to me push myself off the couch and walk to the door. Luke Hemmings stood on my porch looking through the window at me.
I opened up the door and stuck my head out"I thought we were working on the project at your place."
"It's your turn this week." He said pushing the door completely open and walking in. He threw his backpack on the floor and walked towards the kitchen.
"Luke my dad's here," I grumbled walking after him.
"Luke Hemmings! Is that you?" Shit. Luke stood frozen in the kitchen as my dad made dinner. The last time Luke and my dad saw eachother, me and Luke were still dating and it didn't go well.
"Uh yes sir. How are you, sir?" Luke immediately straightened his posture, pulled up his pants, and pulled down his shirt. Luke never earned the dad's approval but that had been the least of my concerns.
"Great. Sit down, son. Dinners almost ready." Dad said motioning to the table.
"Oh no sir-" Luke stumbled over his words trying to come up with an excuse.
"Sit."
They always say your dad and your boyfriend will be the two most important men in your life. But when your dad was gone half the time and your boyfriend was your ex and an ass, they barely earned the title of men in my life.
Luke sat down more quickly than he'd probably liked to admit. My dad was a 'big scary man' as Ashton would describe him, and the feeling my mutual with Luke.
"So. Luke." Dad started, "how's school?"
"Uhh, good sir. I just came to work on a project with your daughter." Luke stumbled over his words lightly making me sigh and sit down diagonal from him at the 4 person table.
He snapped his fingers at me trying not to let my dad see as he motioned to any other seat, I had left the one across and next to him open for my dad. I rolled my eyes at him flicking him off out of Dad's view.
Dad set food down on the table that looked like way too much for 3 people.
"Just a project huh?." Dad said to Luke, eyes narrowed at him.
"Dad." I groaned rubbing my temple.
This dinner couldn't get any worse.
That was until the doorbell rang. Luke let out a breath of relief as it broke the tension and my dad's eyes away from Luke. Dad walked to the door and opened it.
"Shit," I muttered under my breath as my dad pushed the door open revealing my boyfriend. My head fell to the table in utter humiliation. Dad, ex, current boyfriend. And me.
"Georgina! You could have told me about this lovely man Liam." Dad said clasping Liam's Shoulder and pulling him into the kitchen. Liam had about the same face as Luke as their eyes met.
my dad pushed Liam into the chair next to Luke causing me to groan again.
"Stay for dinner," Dad said to Liam sitting down from of cross of him.
"I really can't- I just came to talk to Geo," Liam said
"Georgina," Luke grumbled to Liam.
"Geo," Liam said back.
"You're staying." Dad insisted. "Georgina get your head off the table and say hi to your boyfriend."
I sighed and lifted my head, running my hands over my hair. "Hey, Liam."
He didn't pay any attention to my words, he was glaring at Luke.
"Dad, please. Let them go home." I begged my dad but he just shrugged at me.
"I'm not going anywhere if he's staying," Liam said averting his eyes from Luke making Luke smile lightly as if he had just won. "Same," Luke said raising his eyebrows for a second as he reached and grabbed some food from the table.
"Liam, would you say grace?" Dad asked Liam causing him to choke lightly on the water he was drinking.
We weren't religious, nor had we ever said grace at dinner but I think Dad just wanted to see Liam squirm.
"What?" Liam asked.
"Grace. Bless the food?" Dad asked raising his eyebrows suspiciously.
I grabbed my phone from my pocket and sent an SOS text to Ashton.
"Oh uh.." Liam said looking between me and my dad.
Luke's cocky smile was plastered across his face, "I'll say grace, sir." I glared at Luke trying to mentally wipe that smile off his face. Dad smiled at Luke nodding at him lightly.
"No, I got it." Liam interrupted Luke.
I let out an audible sigh before bowing my head.
"Uhh... dear Jesus." Liam started earning a stifling laugh from Luke. "Jesus, son of G- a bitch!"
Luke's stifled laugh was heard again and my dad's head shot up and glared at Liam. "Excuse you, sir?" He said.
Luke's hand was over his mouth I assumed he had done something to cause Liam to call Mary a bitch.
"He stabbed me with a fork!" Liam said staring at Luke accusingly.
Luke glared at Liam, "I did no such thing." It was the most unbelievable counter-answer I had ever witnessed.
The doorbell rang sending me standing up this time. "I'll get it," I told my dad quickly before he could leave me alone with the two boys.
I quickly walked up to it and opened the door revealing Ashton who stood there waiting. I sighed in relief and stepped out of the house and closed the door.
"Woah what's wrong," Ashton said.
"Will you stay for dinner?" I breathed out earning a confused stare from Ashton. "Sure? I'm starving."
"Great. I can't stand another second with my dad, Luke, and Liam."
Ashton's face fell and he looked at his wrist like a watch would appear suddenly. "Wow look at that time. Actually, I have to get home. I have a.. thing."
I rolled my eyes at him grabbed his bicep and pulled him into the house. The bickering from my father, Luke, and Liam filled the air as Ashton tried to squirm from under my grip.
"I'll never forgive you for this," Ashton muttered.
"I can live with that," I muttered back pushing him into the kitchen.
"Irwin!" My dad said smiling at Ashton. Dad loved Ashton but Ash hated Dad. Ash gave Dad a small smile rubbing the part of his arm I was holding.
"Great. Another one." Liam grumbled under his breath causing me to hit the back of his head, "Sorry."
"Hi Mr. Summer," Ashton said as I grabbed a bar stool and smushed it in between Luke and Liam's chair, pulling Luke's down farther just a tad. Ashton sent me an unamused look as he stared at the chair.
"Sit sit," Dad said motioning to the chair.
Ash sighed and sat down, barely elbows apart from Liam and Luke. At least they were separated.
Let's just add Michael and Calum to the mix, then, it would really be just amazing.
The doorbell rang.
Gosh, I was joking.
"Nope. Nope, leave it." I told Dad as he pushed himself off the table. He sat back down at the table causing me to sigh in relief.
"So. Liam do you go to school with my daughter?" Dad asked.
"Uh, no sir. We met at a restaurant." Liam said moving his chair away from Ashton.
Dad grabbed food from the table, "you're in university?"
"No sir. I'm in a band." Dad hated bands, I didn't think he liked me being one even if he helped me out with.
Luke snorted lightly taking a bite of his food. Luke was an expert on what not to say to my dad. Three main things my dad hates, 1.) cursing 2.) bands 3.) Long hair.
And Liam was batting zero.
At least Luke only was a cursing band member.
Dad's face looked unamused at the 19 year old failing musician.
I almost forgot for a moment that the 19 year old failing musician was my boyfriend.
"A band," Dad stated raising his eyebrows for just a second. Liam just nodded, "Yeah we're performing on Friday... I'd love it if you'd come."
"Mate," Luke mumbled almost trying to help him.
"I'll be there." Dad said, "Watching my daughter get signed to a label."
Liam just chuckled thinking he was joking. I was honestly surprised to hear those own words come from my dad's mouth.
"Why are you laughing son?" Dad asked Liam shutting him up. "Think you deserve it more?"
"No no sir I didn't say that. I would of course be happy for her. But I wouldn't get her hopes up." Liam spat out.
"Excuse me?" I asked dropping my fork on my plate.
"No, no. You're taking it wrong," Liam said to me.
"Then what did you mean," Luke asked.
"Stay out of this." Liam and I said at the same time.
"I'm just saying.. that there's a lot of bands performing." Liam tried to reason.
"Oh like you?" I spat.
"Yeah like me." He said back.
I raised my hands up in the air and pushed my seat back standing up. "I'm leaving. I-I can't handle this dinner anymore."
"Yeah walk away like always bitch." Liam huffed standing up also.
"Don't you dare speak to her like that?" Dad said slamming his fist down on the table. Luke and Ashton had stood up as soon as the word bitch had come out of his mouth.
"I think it's time for you to leave mate," Ashton said grabbing his shoulder.
"I think it's time for all of you to leave." Dad countered standing up.
I wanted Ashton to stay, maybe even Luke. I honestly only wanted Liam to leave just for a minute. Just so I could wrap my head around everything. Just to get a breath of fresh air.
But as they all walked out the door, I leaned up against the wall gnawing on the inside of my lip. Liam's words hadn't hurt me, but they were so familiar. They left a bitter taste on my tongue as they repeated in my head. Suddenly, just suddenly I realized why I liked Liam and why the words were so familiar.
Even if he was the version of post breakup, and not during the relationship , it was the only version of Luke I could find in someone else.
Luke Hemmings turned back to look at me as he was pushed out the door, something Liam didn't dare to do.
Chapter 4
WC: 3726
Me, Maddie, and Calum were walking to English class on Wednesday afternoon. Calum was trying to impress Maddie by telling her a new song he learned on the bass but Maddie already knew it.
"You know you should learn how to play Bass Gigi," Maddie said to me making me roll my eyes at her.
"Then I'd have to take over your job." I smiled at her pushing her lightly to the side. It was easy because her head barely came up to my shoulders, any harder she may have fallen into Calum and toppled over.
My smile fell instantly as I stopped in my tracks staring at the sight infront of me.
"Gigi?" Maddie asked me a few feet infront of me, turning around to see why I stopped.
I never expected to see Luke's lips on Jasmine Hodges's lips again after that night.
But there he was, kissing her lightly against the lockers.
Not that I was jealous or anything but we broke up because of her. It seemed like all of Luke's 'she means nothing babe' actually meant something.
"Fucking idiot," Calum mumbled under his breath now staring at his best friend who had pulled away from Jasmine. Jazzy smiled at Luke before walking back towards her own class.
"Are you jealous Gigi?" Maddie said sending me a huge smile. I never told her about the party.
"Maddie. Come on." Calum said grabbing his girlfriend's arm and giving her a 'don't' look.
Maddie looked at him confused, cocking her head at him before looking at me. I shook my head lightly rubbing my temples with my palms.
"It's fine Calum," I mumbled.
"Hey hey hey! Geo!" A voice came from behind me making me turn around. Liam was walking up to me with a big smile making my face fall even more.
"Liam- hey. What are you doing here? Why do you have a backpack." I asked as he leaned down and pecked my lips lightly. I Blushed as I felt Calums and Maddie's stares in the back of my head. I never told them about Liam.
"Your text said "SOS school is kicking my ass" so I'm pretending to go here so I could give you this." He took off his backpack and opened it up pulling out a single rose. I smiled and grabbed it holding it to my chest.
"Thank you Li, it means a lot." Get you a boyfriend who you only met 5 days ago and who brings you a rose when you've had a hard day at school.
"I know how school always kicked my ass and sometimes I'd wish I'd had a rose once in a while." He said.
The warning bell rang causing both of us to look up. "I'll let you go to class. Call me tonight?" He said making me nod and smile.
I got on the front of my feet and kissed him. "Of course," I said as I pulled away.
"Bye Geo. Bye Geo's friends." He waved at Calum and Maddie behind me before turning around and walking towards the school exit.
Why did he have to call me Geo?
I turned around slowly knowing Maddie was going to be upset.
"Georgina." Maddie said, "Why are you making out with Liam Payne."
My eyebrows scrunched lightly, "you know him?"
Maddie huffed, "Of course I know him! Everyone knows him! He's a class A douche and a class A asshole!"
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, "can we talk about this after class? You can tell about my boy friend the whole way home." I said as I walked towards the English door.
"Boyfriend?" I heard Maddie say loudly earning a sigh from me, "space. boy space friend"
As I walked into the classroom Luke Hemmings grabbed my wrist. "Hey, Mr. Corder me and Geo are going to talk in the hallway for a second about the project." The teacher waved us on as Luke's grip tightened and he pulled me out of the classroom hard. "Hey!" I said trying to pull my hand out of his grasp.
He pushed me into a supply closet room and closed the door pushing me up against the wall. "What the hell are you doing with Liam Payne?"
Did everyone know this guy expected me?
I pushed his chest causing him to stumble back. "Oh no. You don't get to get mad over people I date. That's not how this works."
"Date- oh my." He threw his hands up and closed his eyes holding onto the bridge of his nose.
"Your dating fucking Liam Payne?" He growled at me.
"Why is this such a problem? Your fucking Jasmine Hodge so I'm allowed to fuck whoever I want!" I yelled at him.
"I am not Fucking Jasmine Hodge." He said narrowing his eyes at me.
"Sure. I bet you've been fucking her since the start hm?" I asked.
Luke pushed me back up against the wall pinning me there. "I did a lot of shitty stuff in our relationship but cheating was never one." He growled at me, "but that asshole will cheat on you. And you're just going to end up as another one of Liam Payne's Bitches."
I pushed him off of me completely before walking to the door and opening it.
"Like I'm not already known as one of yours."
---
"1.) If you had only one sense which would you want?" I asked Luke as we sat on opposite ends of the dining room table.
Doing this project at home required a lot more of us spending time together than either of us wanted. It was a Wednesday night and all I wanted to do was go home and finish this week's paper on the questions.
Me and Luke had come up with the 'unbiased' strategy of writing down our answers crumbling them into a ball and throwing them at each other. It relieved a lot of stress and made sure we weren't saying the opposite of the other person on purpose.
I scribbled down my answer and threw it at Luke's head as he threw his paper at mine.
I opened it and let out a groan at the same time he did. We were never going to get a matching answer, "taste really?" I asked unamused.
"Come on, you'd rather listen to music than not be able to taste pizza?" He asked making me nod. "Obviously, I'm a musician."
"So am I but I know priorities!" He huffed.
"sorry ones," I mumbled causing him to throw the paper back at me.
"2.) If you could know how you would die, would you want to?"
I scratched down my answer again, tossing it at him and catching his paper.
"Why the hell would you want to know how you die?" I asked Luke, throwing the paper behind me.
"So I can avoid it and live forever. Obviously." Luke said like it was the simplest thing ever.
"3.) What would you rather throw away: love or money?"
Again, we repeated the same actions, throwing the paper at Eachother. "Geez glad to know you would have thrown me away for money," I said sarcastically.
"Who said I ever loved you?" He shot back throwing the paper I had written money on, at me. I rolled my eyes at him reading the next question,
"4.) Is home a place or a feeling?"
I wrote FEELING in big block letters annoyed with this whole project already and lazily threw it across the table.
Luke's paper read place, which I could see because he was always at his house.
"Aren't you sappy?" He said sarcastically throwing the paper behind him, "read the last one so you can leave."
I laughed sadly at the question before reading it off. "5.) Are you closer with your mom or dad?"
Luke's face turned into a grin as he tried to hold back a laugh but successfully failed. I gave in too and started laughing the same sad laugh. God, we were messed up. "Do we need to answer this?" Luke asked smiling at me sadly as well.
I shook my head knowing Luke's dad was probably in Texas or something and my mom was 6 feet under. I scribbled down all our answers in my notebook and closed it before standing up.
"Bye hemmings," I said pushing out my chair.
"Bye Geo." He said standing up his self.
I wish he'd stop calling me that. I wished everyone would stop calling me Geo, especially Liam.
I opened up the door as soon as a knock hit it. Jasmine Hodge stood there hand hovering above the empty air.
"Oh... Georgina. Hi." She said smiling awkwardly.
I loved women but I wanted to push her into the wall and stomp her like a cockroach.
I didn't say anything as I pushed past her out the door and started walking across Luke's lawn to my house.
I sure hated living next door to Luke. Like we could have moved anywhere in the entire area of Australia and we had to move right next door.
I remember I met Luke right on that sidewalk 6 years ago.
We were 12 or so, it was my first day at the new school after me and Ashton moved here.
I kicked rocks on the sidewalk while walking home from the bus stop. The bus dropped us off so far away that I wished it would drop me off a hair closer.
This kid had been following me home the entire way, I didn't know where he lived or who he was but he just kept following me.
Finally, I stopped and turned around huffing, "Are you going to follow me all the way home?" I asked glaring at the boy. He had spikey Blonde hair and blue eyes and he looked terrified.
"Uh, I live this way." He said pointing in front of us in the direction of his house.
"Oh." I said taking back my glare, "That's fine then. I'm Georgina." I said holding out my hand which he hesitantly shook.
"Luke." He said.
I smiled, "I like your Nirvana shirt. My dad says I'm too young to listen to them but I still do. I'm really into Bon Jovi right now though. My favorite song by them is Livin' On a Prayer. I don't know I just like the lyrics of it."
I talked Luke's ear off now walking next to him. He never told me to shut up or interrupted me, he just listened.
"My dad loves bad medicine but ahh, I don't get the hype. I mean he says I'll like it when I'm older but I don't know. He's teaching me how to play guitar right now. Isn't that cool? I'm going to be the next Orianthi or Joan Jett."
"This is my house," Luke said for the first time talking.
"Hey, I live next door. You should come over sometime and I'll teach you guitar too!" I smiled.
He sent a small smile back but nodded. "Bye Geo."
"My name not Geo." I had laughed at him.
He shrugged walking into his grass, he turned around and yelled back "Geo is your rock star name!"
'Who said I ever loved you?'
----
Band Interventions were always the worst.
You sat on Willow's drum stool while the other girls sat on the couch infront of you in my garage. They asked you questions you didn't want to answer and they gave you responses you didn't want to hear. And currently, I was in the hot seat.
"Can I start off this meeting because what the fuck." Kiara asked closing her eyes lightly.
"You weren't even there. I wanna start." Maddie wined pushing Kiara's shoulder that didn't budge.
"Why are we here again?" Willow had asked.
"I'll start," I said huffing putting my hands on my knees. "Yes, I am seeing Liam Payne, We've only been on a few dates. No, I will not break up with him for stuff that didn't happen with me or never happened in general."
Maddie groaned and threw her head back. "They did happen Gi. He just never admitted it." Kiara said, "he's going to take you and throw you out like he does all his other bitches."
"I'm happy guys." I said letting out a dry laugh, "I haven't been happy in a long time so please. Just let me have this moment."
"You weren't happy yesterday when you saw Luke and Jazzy snogging in the hallway." Why did Maddie have to go back to that?
My light smile fell instantly and my jaw clenched.
"See, she's jealous," Maddie said bumping Kiaras and Willow's shoulders.
Kiara narrowed her eyes at me. She knew my look was not a jealous, fire fueled look but more of remembrance and pain. "What aren't you telling us."
I messed with my fingers lightly, "I didn't want to tell you guys, because I didn't want you to look at Luke how I look at Luke. Our relationship was a mess and I didn't want that to affect your friendship."
"Never liked him," Willow said raising her arms slightly. Kiara rolled her eyes at Willow's statement, "What's up?" She asked me.
I sighed, "Luke kissed Jasmine while we were dating. At a party during truth or dare." I said.
"That's not that bad, I mean it's during a game," Maddie said shrugging.
"I dare you to kiss the prettiest girl in the room."
Maddie let out a short inhale grimacing, "Yeah no that's bad."
Kiara shook her head and her arms at me, "you mean to tell me Luke kissed her instead of his own girlfriend?"
I shrugged, kicking my foot lightly to hit the coffee table in between us. "Something like that. But that was a long time ago. I've.... forgave... him for that so please don't hate him because of that."
"My view on him changes but I won't express it. Much." Willow said earning a nod from the other two girls.
"Perfect." I said standing up, "Now I have a date so lock the garage up when you're done."
Kiara groaned and threw her head back, "We weren't done with the Liam part of the discussion!"
A horn honked causing me to smile, "Yeah we are!"
Me and Liam were going out to dinner. Our relationship was moving... fast, I might say but maybe fast was what I needed. I met him alittle over a week ago but it felt fine.
"Hey babe." He said as I hopped into his car. He leaned across the middle to kiss me before driving off. "Where are we going?" I asked.
"Lennetis." He said making me smile. It was a pretty fancy restaurant and by fancy I mean somewhere me and my friends never went to. Liam was, Great.
When we pulled into the parking lot, we got out and walked into the restaurant. It was busy I must say, I mean it was a Saturday night so I wasn't surprised.
"Got room for two?" He asked the hostess who looked at her paper before nodding and grabbing two menus.
The hostess walked over to the back corner of the restaurant towards a two person table sat right next to another two person table, barely three feet apart.
My face fell as the hostess put the menus down on the table. That stupid blonde hair always followed me around.
"I'm not hungry anymore," I said to Liam grabbing his wrist. "Let's leave."
Liam looked at me weirdly, "In the car, you told me you were starving? Come on sit down." He said motioning to the table.
"Can we leave? Please." I asked.
"Come on Geo we're already here," Liam said sitting down in the seat against my judgment. I sighed sitting down across from him. I was honestly sitting closer to Luke than I was to Liam.
"Oh, you got to be kidding me," Luke said looking at us. "Following me around Geo?"
"Who's the little man? Friend from school?" Liam asked leaning up in his seat. "Liam Payne." He nodded towards Luke who sent him a sarcastic smile. "Fuck you."
I hit Luke's shoulder with the back of my hand, "Hemmings." I warned.
"Luke be nice." I hadn't even noticed Jasmine sitting across from him, "hi I'm Jasmine. But you can call me jazzy." She held out a hand to Liam who shook it. "Liam."
"Hemmings can I speak to you," I said gritting my teeth as Luke's glare on Liam just got harsher.
"No-" I grabbed Luke by the collar of his shirt hoisting him onto his feet, making him knock into the table slightly before pulling him to the back where the bathrooms were.
"I told you I didn't like Liam," Luke growled at me.
"And I don't like Jasmine! Glad we're on the same page. You have zero control over who I date so please just allow this night to go at least 20% okay and shut up." I said through clenched teeth.
Luke crossed his arms glaring at the wall. "I want 5 snarky remarks."
"3 snarky remarks and you let me have 2 at Jasmine," I said.
"Deal." He spit in his hand before shaking mine causing me to gag and hold my hand away from my body. "Never. Do that again." I grumbled walking back to the table to wipe my hand off and put some sanitizer on it.
Liam looked pissed when I and Luke came back to the table, Jasmine just sat there smiling. "We're all good," I said smiling as I sat back down infront of Liam. I reached into my bag to grab my hand Sanitizer setting it on the table.
He had his elbows on the table and he reached his hand across to grab my hand before placing a kiss on the inside of my palm. That. Was. Disgusting.
I didn't say anything just smiled at him, Luke was smiling also, covering his laugh with a cough into his napkin.
As soon as Liam pulled his hands off mine I grabbed my sanitizer and wiped my hands off. Liam just frowned.
"So Jasmine tells me that Little man over here is your ex?" Liam asked.
I nodded lightly, "Yeah."
"How long did y'all date?"
"4 months." Me and Luke said at the same time.
Jasmine blinked slowly, "you mean 4 years?"
I looked over at Luke who's eyebrows were scrunched, before we laughed slightly. "Yeah... that."
"What a shame. Why did y'all break up?" Liam asked. I shook my head, "can we not talk about that, right now." I gave him a bitter smile making him hold his hands up in defense. "Just making conversation with your friends."
"Just pretend they're not here. Alright?" I said earning a thumbs up from Luke.
"Not even here mate."
Liam nodded and took a drink of a beer I hadn't knew he had gotten. I took a sip of my water that I also hadn't known was there.
"How many piercings do you have?" Liam asked me.
I counted lightly on my fingers thinking, "4 faces then like 10 ear ones probably. I forget." I laugh lightly.
"Little much don't you think?" He said taking a sip of his drink.
I shrugged, "I like them."
"What's your natural hair color?" Liam asked me.
"Oh, it's brown," I said running a hand through the red ends.
"You should go back natural." He said leaning back in his seat. "I love brunettes."
"She Dosnet dye her hair for you asshole, she dyes it so Michael won't feel self conscious about his," Luke said joining in on our conversation. 1/3 snarky remarks down.
It was true, me and Michael's matching hair dye journey started when he wanted to dye his hair purple in grade 9 but didn't know what poeple would say about him. I dyed mine with him, so if they talked about him, they talked about me also. Michael wasnt insecure with his hair choices and his self these days but we still always had matching hair.
"Another ex I should know about?" Liam asked making me groan.
"Michael's one of my best friends. He's harmless." I said sipping on my water anxiously.
"Besides she looks hot with the red mate. Gosh, and you should feel that young piercing on your skin man." Luke said making me choke lightly on my water. 2/3.
"Luke!" I yelled at him. He smiled lightly at the first name but then brought his attention back to Liam. "What did you just say about my girlfriend?" Liam asked his jaw clenched as he stared at Luke.
"Luke, babe," Jasmine said looking angrily at her own boyfriend.
"But you haven't got that far, have you? I bet she hasn't even had your lips anywhere besides yours. Even then they're alittle too closed for your liking, am I right? Come on you can be honest with me. Or have you guys not even kissed yet? She alwasy was hard to earn. But you Liam, " Luke smiled, "You arent. You are pretty easy, been with every girl this side of town."
3/3.
"You have no right talking to me or Liam like that," I said angrily to Luke.
Luke just smiled lightly his tongue in between his teeth. He turned to look at Liam, "do you even know anything about her? Like how she only showers with the lights off? Or how she used to count her freckles as a kid? What's her favorite band? Or even better, what's her middle name?"
4/3
Liam looked angrily at Luke. "Come on mate what's her middle name?" Liam didn't know, I didn't expect him to know.
"Hailey. It was her mom's name." Luke said pointing a finger at Liam, "If you're going to date her I expect you know her. Or even pretend to know her."
"I'm done with this." Liam said standing up, "Geo." He grabbed my wrist pulling me to also stand up. Luke's hand slapped on the table as he stood up pointing a finger a Liam's chest.
"Don't for a second think you can call her Geo," Luke said dangerously to Liam in his face.
I sighed, throwing down a few bills that would hopefully cover Liam's beer. "Come on Li," I mumbled grabbing his hand and pulling him away from Luke.
"See ya at the concert Liam!" Luke called after us.
Once we got in the car I put my arms over my eyes trying to A.) reduce my already forming headache B.) Stop any tears that may come out even though I wasn't sad or scared, more embarrassed. And C.) Not look at Liam's face.
"What the fuck was that in there Geo?" Liam yelled at me, "I just got shit talked by your bitch ass ex boyfriend!"
I shook my head lightly, "Please just.. not now."
I swear I could hear Liam's jaw crunch, "Okay." He mumbled turning on the car. "Okay! Okay, we'll start this relationship off already without communication. Do you even want to be in this relationship?"
"Just take me home," I mumbled. "Please."
He sighed and revered the car out of the parking lot and towards my house. Fuck Luke. Fuck Liam. Fuck Jasmine. Fuck me.
Chapter 3
WC: 2482
When I told Ashton the worst part of my week was getting put in a project with Luke, I expected him to agree with me. Not throw a sleepover.
All 5 of us were lying in Ashton's living room, in complete awkward silence, It had been months since we had all 5 hung out together. Utter bullshit that I was over here with 3 boys and my ex, while my best friends were having their own sleepover at Kiaras. When Ashton invited me to sleep over I thought it was just going to be me and him. Maybe Michael at one point.
But here I was, arms crossed as I glared at Luke who sat on the other end of the couch, mimicking my expression.
"Guys." Michael Said, "It's getting weird."
"Shut it, Clifford," Luke said not breaking my gaze, like it was some intense staring contest.
"Brilliant idea Ash," Calum said sarcastically laying his back down on the floor.
"Gigi said they were working together!" Ashton argued.
I took my gaze away from Luke to glare at Ashton, the real criminal here, "I said we were working on a project together! Which he is no help with by the way."
Luke scoffed, "You don't like my handwriting! How am I supposed to help if I can't write anything?"
"Maybe if you actually fucking agreed with me on something, we wouldn't have to write so much." I shot back at him.
"Oh yeah, like it's such a crime for me to disagree with you." He rolled his eyes at me causing me to kick his leg hard with my foot.
"Don't you dare roll your eyes at me, Hemmings," I said narrowing my eyes at him. He knew how much I hated when he rolled his eyes at me.
"Guys stop," Ashton said.
"Oh no you do not need to be upset with us when you put us here Irwin," I said glaring at the boy.
"Those questions are easy guys... I mean how can you not at least agree on a few of them? Go and stop? Pirates and ninjas?" Calum said sitting back up. He now seemed interested in the conversation.
"We're two totally different people," I said earning a nod from Luke.
"How the hell did y'all date?" Michael asked making Luke scoff. "Lots of alcohol mate." This earned him another kick to the leg. "Stop that!" Luke yelled at me hitting my leg with his foot back.
"Asshole," I mumbled.
"Okay! I give up!" Ashton yelled raising his hands in surrender and standing up. "You too are too fucking childish to even respect each other."
"I never will respect Luke," I said simply said. Luke's face softened lightly almost in regret before it went back to a glare.
"I don't respect someone who doesn't respect me." He said.
"What the hell even happened to you two?" Calum asked.
Crazy how that one question can change our whole mood. Luke chewed on his fingernails anxiously and I pulled my feet up on the couch, wrapping an arm around my knees. "Nothing," I said barely above a whisper.
"No no... I'll tell em," Luke said looking over at me. For once in a while, the look wasn't laced with a single ounce of resentment.
"You don't have to." I mumbled, "It's over and there's no point in making them think differently of you when they weren't even there."
"Luke, what the hell did you do?" Ashton asked glaring at his friend.
I knew the second that it happened Luke regretted it. I knew that our breakup would have been more of a "break" if it wasn't for my song getting stolen. If it wasn't for the fight after I confronted him.
"You know jazzy?." Luke asked closing his eyes and resting his head on the back of the couch.
"Jazzy like Jasmine Hodge? Hottest girl in all of Australia?" Michael asked. I wanted to roll my eyes at that comment. But somehow it made Luke's case for him better.
Luke, however, winced at the words. "Jasmine Hodge yeah."
"What does Jasmine Hodge have to do with this story?" Calum asked.
"Everything." I sighed. This earned a guilty glance from Luke.
"We started playing truth or dare." Luke said, "And I chose dare."
I honestly didn't want to hear the story anymore. I didn't want to relive that moment at all, I could tell neither did Luke.
"Kiss the prettiest girl in the room," Luke said, the words rolling over his tongue like ice cold water. He seemed to scoff at his own self as he rubbed his mouth. Silence fell over the group as the boys stared at Luke Like he was Insane. "So I kissed Her. I kissed Jasmine Hodge."
I closed my eyes at the words.
"Dude," Calum muttered.
It wasn't even the fact that I wasn't the prettiest girl in the room. It just had to be the girl at our school that everyone wanted to have. The girl every guy would leave their girlfriend for. He was my boyfriend of 4 years And he kissed her right infront of me.
"What the fuck Luke," Ashton said ruffly.
"I don't have an excuse that I haven't said to Geo before, so I'm not going to try to save myself now," Luke said swallowing hard. "Fuck." He mumbled.
"We took a break and then a month later officially broke it off," I said.
"Is that the fight we heard?" Michael asked making me stiffin and Luke open up his eyes. Just like that, our whole demeanor changed. That fight was nothing or Luke would even consider telling the boys what it was about. Even if they heard parts of it, it was no reason to go back to that day. The fight was the real reason we broke up I think. Not Jasmine, not the song, the fight. Sure all those things started the fight but it opened up a whole new topic that made a lasting impression on how me and Luke view eachother.
"I'm going home," I told them standing up abruptly.
"Of course, right when the fight gets mentioned you leave," Luke said huffing at me, any ounce of guilt that was left on his face was replaced with the same old Luke I knew.
"I'll see you on Monday asshole," I said walking past him to grab my bag off the floor.
"Bye Calum, Bye Michael. Fuck you, Irwin." I said walking out the front door.
"Yeah walk out like always bitch!" Luke called as the door slammed.
Walk out like always bitch
----
When I was 7 Ashton pushed me down the stairs and broke my arm. I hated him after that and told him I never wanted to be his friend again because I couldn't go swimming for a whole summer.
When I came home from the hospital in my cast there were wilted, old flowers on my porch. They looked as if they had been there for a few days or so, probably the time I had been at the hospital and surgery. I had recognized them as the ones from Ashton's flower bush in his front yard.
Ashton ended up getting grounded for destroying his mom's flower bush but ever since that day, whenever Ashton would "mess up' he would bring me flowers.
I guess that's why the front doorbell rang this morning.
I was still in my pajamas as it was only 10 in the morning. An iced Coffee in hand as I hid behind the wall not wanting for the unknown salesman to see me. The no soliciting sign in our neighborhood meant nothing to those guys.
"It's me Gi." A faint voice called from behind the door.
I sighed as Ash's voice came out behind the wall and walking to the door. I know I shouldn't be upset with him, he just wanted to hang out with all his friends on Friday. But it was hard not to blame him for all the re opened wounds. I should blame Hemmings, not Ash.
I unlocked the door and opened it seeing Ash stand there, a half dozen flowers in his hand as he kicked his shoe against my house. No longer were the flowers Ashton gave me from the yard but normally from the local store.
I smiled lightly as he turned to me holding them out.
"Come in," I said holding the door open alittle wider. He smiled largely as he walked inside the house and took off his shoes at the door.
I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a vase for the flowers and filled it up with water.
"I know you said you and Luke weren't good, but I just wanted, I Don't Know, to have my friends back," Ashton said sitting down at the kitchen table. "I should have asked you how you felt before I invited him."
I shook my head and sat the flowers to the side, "I'm sorry me and him can't get along. And I'm sorry that I took it out on you. there was no reason for me to be upset with you over wanting your friends to be friends."
Silence filled the table as we both felt guilty. Just because I couldn't stand Luke Doesn't mean I should put ash in the middle.
"You Wanna go get lunch?" He asked making me smile.
"Of course." I said standing up, "My treat."
"I'm supposed to buy you lunch, not the other way around." He said following me up to my room.
"I have band practice at 4 so gotta be back before then." Ignored his previous comment as I walked into my room and opened up my closet.
"I have it at 4 also." He said
I grabbed some jeans and a t shirt and threw them on as Ashton lay face down on my bed. What a gentleman.
After I was dressed I walked over and pulled his head up by his hair. He sent me a smile which I returned before I dropped his head back in the pillow.
"So where are you thinking? Marcos? Snags?" I asked walking back down the stairs.
"I just want pizza," Ashton said shrugging.
"You always want pizza." Ashton and I both slipped on our shoes and walked outside to Ashton's car parked in my driveway. It was... weird seeing his car parked in my dad's spot. Not that my dad was ever home to park in it, but a car never filled the spot when He wasn't home.
"I'm thinking of that new pizza place on the corner of wintergreen." He said interrupting my thoughts, I hadn't even realized I had got in his car.
"Perfect," I said messing with the radio.
When we finally got to the restaurant I was more than starving. It was small and like Ashton said, off the corner of Wintergreen.
"Have you ever thought of, I don't know, a rebound?" Ashton asked as he sat down at a table in the far corner.
"I don't need someone to date to get over hemmings," I said rolling my eyes at Ashton. I was completely and utter over Luke and did not need a 'rebound' as Ashton called it.
"Hey I'm Liam, what can I get started for you today."
I looked up at the waiter and smiled nervously. Liam had tattoos covering his arms in his tight black shirt. He stood there holding a pen and paper looking me up and down.
"Still don't need a rebound?" Ashton whispered to me making me stomp on his foot hard. He winced, "Just a water."
Liam chuckled lightly and scratched it down, "and for your girlfriend?"
I laughed and shook my head, "Oh I don't have a boyfriend- I mean we aren't together. Water also please."
He smiled and nodded at me, "Good to know. I'll have those drinks out in a second." He clicked his pen against the paper before walking back to the kitchen.
"No no, absolutely not," Ashton asked as I turned to him smiling. "Look at him!" I turned and looked at Liam who was stacking napkins on top of each other in the corner. "You haven't flirted with someone in 4 years and that's who you choose?"
"Hey! I have flirted with people in the past 4 years." I said not very convincingly.
He looked at me unamused, "other than Luke."
My face fell and I thought for a second. I snapped and pointed at him, "I went on a date with Amanda Zeno."
Ashton's face scrunched up, "that weird girl from our science class?"
I sighed, "Yeah she was my rebound."
He shook his head and waved his hands at me, "Well honestly I like her better than this guy."
"Here's your water," Liam said putting the waters on the table. "Know what you want to eat."
"Yeah well share a 12-inch of everything pizza," I said.
"I'll put that in right now." He said putting the paper in his back pocket.
"So Liam." Ashton said leaning in his seat towards Liam, "Where do you go to school."
He laughed and shook his head, "Oh I'm not in school. Got out of high school last year." Older and educated. Perfect.
Ashton shot me a look that said "Don't you dare."
"Do you work here full time?" I ask ignoring Ashton's glance.
"Most of the time. I'm also in a band." My smile got wider as Ashton sighed and let his head slip to the table earning a concerned glance from Liam.
"So am I." I said smiling, "I'm lead and guitar what about you?"
"Same! You should really come to see us perform sometime. We have a gig at Jordan's in a week or so."
Ashton let out another loud groan and let his head smack down on the table again.
"No way! Us too! The 13th?" I asked.
Liam just laughed and nodded, "Small world. So you must be.... sugars?" He asked snapping his fingers. "And are you in sugars too or the 5 minutes of spring?" He asked Ashton.
"5 seconds of summer," Ashton mumbled.
"Ah sorry mate. Anyway, I guess I'll see you there. Maybe we can get dinner before?" Liam asked.
I nodded smiling at him, "it's a date."
"Great." Liam said smiling back at me, "I'll uh put in your orders."
As Liam left Ashton just lifted his head and shot me a look I knew too well. The 'you're making a terrible mistake look'.
But I didn't care. I was just smiling like an idiot as I sipped my water through the straw.
Our pizza came and went and when the check came, Liam slid the customer's receipt to me and wished me a good day.
Liam Payne 011-788-2397
I shoved the copy of the receipt into my pocket as Ashton frowned at me knowingly.
Chapter 2
WC: 2423
People used to tell me my mom reminded them of Kat Stratford in high school. She was outspoken, loud, and always voiced her opinions. She loved rock music and got me into rock music myself. The guitar I played was hers when she was in a band of her own in high school. I wish I remembered her.
Now my mom might have been Kat, but my dad was no Patrick Verona. The only thing they had in common was being Australian. I don't know how my mom and him fell in love seeing as he was the soul thing my mom stood against. He was a businessman who was never home, alwasy working for hours on end. Never wanted to venture out of our town or go on vacation. Didn't care about the environment or the problems in our society. He cared about money. Something that differed Mom and him in two different directions.
My dad would spew "you're just like your mother" like an insult, a bad taste in his mouth when we would Argue. Like me being like her was so unbearable, that I should be like him.
Maybe Mom would still be alive if she was like him. If she valued herself more than she did other people.
I strummed lightly on the guitar that still had Stickers from my mom on it. I had imagined that the guitar strap used to smell like her perfume at one point. I wondered when it had lost the scent.
A loud bang came from my window making me turn slightly to look at it. Nothing was there so I assumed it was the tree that was next to it. I turned up the amp on the floor playing alittle louder before I heard the tap again.
I huffed and sat the guitar on the bed before walking over to the window.
Luke Hemmings was on the branch closest to the roof throwing small rocks at the glass.
I opened the window and stuck my head out, "what the hell-" a rock hit my forehead making me close my eyes in annoyance. "What are you doing hemmings?"
He let his legs fall off the tree hanging with only his arms as he swung in the window, not waiting for me to move. I fell backward onto the ground with him on top of me, knocking the breath out of me as he landed straight on my chest.
"Ow." I breathed out wincing slightly.
He wasn't bothering to get off of me, but just pushing himself up with his hands so he wasn't putting all his weight on me. He looked down at me almost confused or maybe it was a look of embarrassment.
"Your hair's red." He stated.
It had been red for a week now.
I groaned and rolled my eyes before pushing him off of me and Onto the floor before I stood up.
"What are you doing here hemmings?" I asked walking over to the window and closing it.
Luke rolled over on the floor until he was under my bed. "Hiding." He simply said.
I could hear him rustling under my bed, his flashlight from his phone spewing out from under the bed.
"From who?" I asked jumping on my bed and making it dip down enough to hit his head. "Ow!" He yelled.
"We're playing hide and seek, loser pays for lunch. This is the last place the guys would look." He said from under the bed.
Something was shot into my room and I looked to see a pair of underwear now hung on my desk. I dipped my head down, hanging over the bed, my hands flat on the floor Luke shined his flashlight in my face making me squench my eyes. "Did you just slingshot my underwear you found under my bed?" I asked him unamused. He laid on his back under my bed smiling at me, "Yes."
I heard the front door slam,
"Hey, Gigi!" Ashton's voice rang through the house.
"Shit," Luke mumbled pulling my arms that were hanging over the bed, making me fall to the floor for yet the second time today, before pulling me under the bed up to his chest.
I winced again, "What the fu-" Luke's hand slapped over my mouth as he held a finger over his lips with his other hand.
My heart raced. That was normal for ex-couples to still make each other nervous right? I'm sure it was because my heart was beating out of my rib cage as his face was inches away from mine giving me a serious look.
A knock on my door made me slightly jump. "Gigi, have you seen Luke?" Ashton's voice rang. Luke's hand gripped tightly on my bare hip holding me still as the door to my room opened.
"Great she's not even here," Ashton said as I saw his black shoes being walked into the room. He annoyingly groaned before his feet stomped out of the room.
The door eventually shut downstairs.
Luke's hand remained on my hip and on my mouth as he stared at me. It seemed to be the theme today, me and him just staring at each other.
I snapped out of it as I tasted his hand on my mouth making me push him off and roll out from under the bed. "You're going to kill me if you keep knocking me over."
"That's the plan." He said rolling out himself.
I jumped back on my bed sitting down on it, "How long are you going to stay? I've inhaled too much of your cologne today."
He rolled his eyes as he sat down on the rolling chair, spinning around. "You bought me this cologne." He seemed to regret the words as they came out of his mouth because he stopped spinning just for a second. "It's my least favorite one." He added.
"Same." I said, "bought it so you'd smell like shit."
I actually loved that scent. It was Luke's signature scent, the one where you would associate that smell with anyone with Luke.
"Glade were in agreement." He said almost awkwardly before starting to spin on my chair again.
The setting was now awkward as well, The air was thick. "Get out." I said making him stand up abruptly, "Yep."
He walked to the window and opened it.
"You can uh... you can go out the front door." I told him.
He shot me a quick smile before swinging himself out the window, "And Why would I do that?"
----
"Georgina." My name was called in class making me lift my head off the desk. The teacher looked at me unamused about the fact that I had been sleeping in her class.
"And what's the answer to number 16?" She asked.
"7," I mumbled exhausted before putting my head back down on the desk.
"That's uh... That's right." She said surprised.
My chair was kicked from behind making me groan before turning around. "How'd you know that?" Calum asked me suspiciously.
"I know everything." I shrugged before turning around and putting my head back on the table. That wasn't completely true.
Every time we had an assignment number 16 was always 7. Our math teacher had gotten married on July 16th so she seemed to always make the date out of everything. Just a coincidence she asked me for number 16 or I would have been sat there like an idiot.
The bell rang making me groan yet again lifting my head off the desk yet again. "Okay! Pages 3 and 4 for homework."
Those pages would never get done.
I grabbed my bag off the floor and threw it over my shoulder, waiting for Calum to finish putting his papers in his bag. We had English together next.
"Who lost hide and seek on Saturday?" I asked him as we walked out of the classroom. "How did you know we played hide and seek?" He asked narrowing his eyes at me.
"Hemmings."
"Why did Luke tell you?"
"Because I asked."
"But why?"
"Why not?"
"Because it's Luke."
I shrugged lightly, "Well Luke told me you guys were playing so who lost? It was Michael wasn't it?"
Calum stifled a laugh but nodded, "he hid in Ashton's car. You don't hide in the seeker's car."
Sounded enough like Michael for me to believe it. My guess was that Calum probably hid in the neighbor's trash can. Maybe he even hid in my trash can.
"I won obviously, hid in Luke's Recycling bin. Took ash 5 hours to find me." He said proudly.
They did not take 5 hours to find Calum, they probably gave up and grabbed lunch without him. But if Calum thought he won then I wasn't going to burst his bubble. I think if even Ashton found Luke or Calum first, he wouldn't say anything but just search for Michael instead. Michael never paid for his own food.
"Hey In English did you want to be partners with Luke for our project?" Calum asked me suddenly.
My eyebrows scrunched as I looked over at him, "no I did not." I said stopping infront of the English room to look at him.
"Oh." He said looking infront of him, "Well you might be partners with Luke."
I narrowed my eyes at the Boy you was avoiding my gaze, "what do you mean I might be partners with hemmings?"
He smiled nervously, scratching the back of his next. "Me and uh... Maddie. Started it together already."
I blinked slowly at the boy. "Maddie's my partner."
"Not anymore." He said like a smartass making me hit the back of his head with my hand.
"It's not my fault! She convinced me!" Calum said pointing behind me making me turn. Maddie was standing there slowly walking backward with a big "oh no" look on her face.
Calum grabbed Maddie and held her infront of him, "You wouldn't hit a child would you?" He said bending down so he was covered by her. "I'm supposed to be Behind you!" She yelled at Calum hitting his head also.
"Ow! Babe, we're on the same side." He said rubbing the back of his head.
"Sorry G. I promise I'll make it up to you," Maddie said looking at me sincerely. Maddie wasn't allowed to date and could only hang out with guys if it was for school. So this project would give them an excuse to hang out at each other's houses.
"You owe me." I said pointing at Maddie, "And you owe me." I pointed to Calum, "and oh do you owe me." I turned and pointed at Luke who was about to walk into the classroom. He stopped and looked at me confused not even knowing what our conversation had been about.
"What." He simply said making me throw my head back groaning, pushing past them to get inside the classroom.
"If you're just walking in, sit anywhere with your partner." The English teacher said making me turn to Luke who was having what seemed to be the same conversation Calum had with me.
"Hell no," Luke said making me roll my eyes before taking a seat on the floor in the back of the room against the wall. I pulled my laptop out of my bag and opened it.
As I typed away on the keyboard trying to find the rubric, Luke groaned as he sat down next to me, his bag falling on my feet. "Did you do anything for it yet?" He asked me as I shook my head, "haven't even read the rubric."
"Great neither have I." He said sarcastically opening up his bag on my legs and pulling out a notebook and half a pencil.
I enlarged the rubric sent out in the email. "Over the next 4 weeks, you and your partner will face a series of questions that you each have to answer truthfully. Blah blah blah...At the beginning of each week, you will get 5 questions that you each will answer and discuss. Your answers will be used to distinguish the similarities and differences between you and your partner. The Monday after the questions are assigned, a small overview of the answers and your thoughts are due. At the end of the 4 weeks, you both will write a minimum 400-word essay. Blah blah...Since this project is long, most of the work will be done at home in your free time leaving class time to work on other topics." I read off the Email.
"This is the most English assignment ever. Compare feelings and then write about it." Luke mumbled throwing his broken pencil across the room at Calum.
"You got that right," I mumbled. "When do you want to start?"
He shrugged closing his eyes and leaning against the wall. "What's this week's questions?"
I tapped on some files in the email before pulling up a document labeled WEEK ONE QUESTIONS.
"One, perfect teeth or perfect hair?" I asked reading off the list.
"Easy hair, next." He said. I rolled my eyes at his answer, "Teeth determine everything." I told him.
"0 for 1. Next." He said.
"Two, already know your answer on this, iced or hot?" I read, "and you're going to pick hot because 'what's the point of icing down a hot drink." I said mimicking his voice.
He opened up one of his eyes, glaring at me, "There's zero point in icing down a hot coffee!"
"Ninjas or pirates?"
Luke smiled, "ninjas."
I groaned, were we ever going to get the same answer? "Mate, have you seen Pirates of the Caribbean? Jack sparrow? Will tuner? Elizabeth Swann? The hottest people to ever sail the oceans."
He scoffed, "I'm doing this on skill, not on looks like you." He mumbled quietly, "They are hot though." Under his breath. "But ninjas all the way."
"Question four." These questions were fucking stupid, "stop or go? And this time we answer at the same time okay?"
He nodded and counted down from three.
"Stop"
"Go."
I groaned throwing my head back, "Why the hell would you pick stop?"
He shrugged, "hitting every red light, kissing at the stop signs." He quoted one of his band's songs making me blink sarcastically if that was possible.
"Last one." I mumbled "Converse or vans?"
I looked down at what shoes we were wearing and sure enough I had white high top converse on and Luke had black vans on.
"Asshole," I mumbled closing my computer.
"Bitch."
Chapter 1
WC: 3179
5 years prior
If you took satan himself and slapped him in the black skinny jeans your mom wears, it would be Luke Hemmings.
I hated Luke more than life itself, more than rain on a beach day or the last cigarette in the box.
It used to not always be like this. My band and his band used to be best mates, he and I had alittle chemistry. Alittle. Not a lot, but a tiny drop. We hung out every day after school, we played songs with each other.
That was until Luke stole my song.
Stole my song. A song about how I felt after the events of the breakup and Luke Hemmings changed a few pronouns and broadcasted it across the school. And fucking 5 seconds of summer got the credit for it.
I didn't blame the other bandmates. Ashton and Michael were oblivious to when Luke had even written the song and Calum, well Calum said he just showed up to rehearsal and played the bass.
Luke claimed he came up with it in a dream. Isn't that the most bullshit excuse ever? A song about my personal life made up in his dream. He claimed I stole it from him. Even more bullshit.
I wrote that song, expressing all the emotions I had felt concerning the breakup and he stole it.
~~
"I can't wait to leave this school," Maddie said fixing her bag on her shoulder. She was significantly shorter than all of us and I wasn't even sure how her legs could catch up. She was maybe a foot shorter than Kiara who stood at almost 6'. Maddie was the bassist of our band and what she would call the 'hype man.' She was bouncy, bubbly, and not afraid to call people cunts to their faces. She liked to watch Star Wars movies and play soccer in her free time.
"Aren't we all?" Kiara rolled her eyes at the girl's words like they weren't known. Kiara was our lead guitarist who was actually from America. She moved here for Dad's job back in grade 7 and we had been friends ever since. She had dark skin with her natural hair and she towered over most of us. She wasn't that much taller than me but she still intimidated the crap out of me. When Kiara was not volunteering at school or saving the world, she was usually with one of the two bands.
"I actually like school." Willow smiled, sunglasses covering her bloodshot eyes. Willow was our drummer. And when Willow wasn't banging on drums, or with her girlfriend, she was usually getting high or drinking. She was the party one of our group and was the best fucking drummer in all of Australia. Don't tell Ashton I said that.
"This is the first time you've been at school all week," I told her rolling my eyes. Then there was me I guess. I'm the lead singer in the band. Sometimes guitar, sometimes keyboard, sometimes wherever I was needed.
"And? That doesn't mean I can appreciate the beauty of learning." Willow said sarcastically. It was good to say we were all done with year 12 and just wanted to leave. Kiara was going back to America for university, Willow was marrying her girlfriend and moving to Spain, and Maddie was going to university in England. I was staying here.
It was hard knowing that after this year I'd be alone. The band would be broken up until further notice and I'd be stuck here, alone.
"Georgina Summer? Where's Georgina summer?" A voice boomed through the hallways. I turned my head to look behind me to see Michael Clifford with one of those megaphone speaker things. His red hair made it easy to spot him in the hallway, so I didn't know why he couldn't spot me with the same hair color.
"Shut the hell up, Clifford!" Maddie yelled loudly at the boy whose head snapped in our direction. He had a huge smile on his face as he ran up to us.
"Women." He said still in the megaphone making us wince. He realized he was still talking into it and pushed it down, "women." He said again a lot quieter, shooting us all a grin.
"You really couldn't have just called me?" I asked unamused staring at the megaphone in his hand.
"You wouldn't have answered." He pouted.
I leaned in towards him slightly, sending him a sarcastic smile, "Exactly."
"You're no fun, but hey, I'm here to invite you to this party Ashton's having tomorrow At his house," Michael said looking at us four.
"I'm in," Willow said smiling before turning and walking away suddenly.
Michael's eyebrows scrunched in confusion "o-okay? She's in. Maddie's also in because Calum will be there and-"
Maddie shook her head and her arms at the boy, "wait wait wait. You can't just assume I'd come to a party just because My boyfriend is going."
Michael raised his eyebrows at her before she grumbled, "I'll see you there." She said before walking away in the direction Willow went
"Kiara is always in," Michael said smiling. Kiara shrugged, "always. Bye Gigi."
"And you." He said looking down at me, "You'll say you won't come because Luke's coming but then you'll break and come."
Michael Clifford thinks he knows me so well, doesn't he? I shook my head giving him an amused smile. "We'll see about that."
~~
"Black or red?" I asked holding up two dresses as the girls lay sprawled across my room. Willow was on my roof smoking a cigarette that I wouldn't let her smoke inside, Maddie was on the phone with Calum and Kiara was actually giving me input.
"You have red hair," Kiara said unamused. "You don't wear red on red."
I held up my hands in defense, putting the red dress back in my wardrobe, and slid off my jeans and T-shirt before sliding on the dress.
"Calums picking us up," Maddie said pulling the phone away from her mouth for a second.
"Hell no. I do not want to be stuck with you and your boyfriend making out in the front seat for 5 minutes before we leave the house." Kiara said glaring at Maddie.
Maddie pouted, "fine he'll pick me up."
"I cannot 7th wheel all night tonight." Kiara groaned and rubbed her eyes with the palms of her hands. My eyes narrowed at her, "I don't have a partner."
"You and Luke have so much sexual tension that it feels like you're still together," Kiara said making me groan in response.
"It's true, you guys need to like bone already," Willow yelled from the roof. I walked over the my window and smiled at her sarcastically before shutting the window and locking the latches.
"Just because me and Luke dated for the tiniest amount of time doesn't mean we have any chemistry left," I said grabbing my trainers and putting them on my feet.
Maddie looked at me puzzled, "tiniest time? are we talking about the same Luke? You dated for four years."
"Maybe alittle more than a tiny amount of time. Either way, it doesn't change how much I hate the guy. He stole-"
"My song." Maddie and Kiara said at the same time rolling their eyes.
"We know. Still don't know how that happened, I mean it has been seen that people come up with the same ideas at the same time." Kiara said.
"Not the entirety of a song!" I said before sighing, "Look, me and Luke are history. And by history I mean we hate each other's fucking guts. It's not changing."
A tap came from the window and Willow smiled before blowing her hot breath on the window. She drew an arrow heart and wrote L+G in it backward.
I rolled my eyes before standing up and closing the blinds on her.
"I'm not saying that you have to, bone, him tonight, I'm just saying try to be civil for the rest of us," Kiara said with a pleading look.
"I'm alwasy the civil one." I argued, "It's him you should be telling this to."
------
I had already regretted coming to this party.
I didn't have school in the morning and I was staying over at Maddie's so there was no reason for me not to let loose and have a drink. But god did I hate the taste of alcohol. I also didn't like who I was on alcohol, it wasn't me I guess. I didn't mind being the designated driver.
"Here," Willow yelled over the music handing me a red solo cup of something. It looked like piss if I was being Honest.
"Don't get your pants in a mess, it's apple juice." She said rolling her eyes at me. "I brought some in my bag for you so you wouldn't feel left out."
I smiled gratefully at her before taking a sip; Apple juice at parties always hit differently.
"I'm going to find Danica." She said patting my shoulder and looking around for her girlfriend. "Call me if you need me." She disappeared into the crowd as soon as I nodded in approval.
"Hey, pretty girl." I turned my head to see Ashton Irwin smiling a toothy grin at me. Ashton and I had been friends since we were 4 years old, making him my utter and total best friend. He's how I met Michael, Calum, and the other one.
I smiled brightly at him before throwing my arms around his neck, "come here often?" He asked dipping me like we were dancing.
"A lot actually." I winked at me causing him to blush and set me back on my feet. This was our relationship, anyone from the outside would think we had been dating for all our friendship but in reality, he was just my best friend.
"Didn't think you'd show up. If you get tired or bored, just go up to my room. I'll tell Maddie where you are." He said taking a sip of his beer can he had.
"Thanks. Neither did I," I said raising my eyebrows slightly. "But Michael is just so persuasive with that megaphone. I mean who let the loudest kid in the group get a megaphone?"
Ashton laughed and shook his head, "Luke bought it to shut him up in the moment, however, it just made everything worse."
I rolled my eyes, that was such a Luke thing. Only thinking about now and not the future.
"Are you guys like ever going to makeup? I hate not being able to hang out with both of you at the same time." Ashton said, his face turning serious as his fingers danced over the top of his cup.
"You know how bad the breakup was," I said shuffling my foot uncomfortably. It was true, even before Luke stole my song our relationship was in shambles.
"I know." Ashton sighed, "I'm not trying to tell you who you love but come on Gigi. You and Luke were unbreakable. What even happened?"
I shook my head slightly, tugging on my lip ring anxiously with my teeth. Me and Luke never told anyone why we broke up. After you date for so long people expect you to last forever, but that wasn't the case with me and Luke. It was all I ever heard these days. 'Why did you and Luke break up?' 'Y'all were so cute!' 'Such a shame'
People just fall out of love.
"Sorry," Ashton mumbled seeing my discomfort. I shook my head again waving him off, "No no it's fine." Maybe I did need a drink. I turned my head to the living room to see some kid throwing up in Ashton's mum's vase. Never mind.
"Shit." Ashton said, "Hey mate! That goes outside not in the vase." He yelled at the guy pointing towards the backyard, "I'll talk to you later alright?" Ashton said kissing my cheek before running off towards the sick guy.
I sighed at his absence, Taking a sip of my drink. "Gigi!" Maddie yelled over the music, pulling Calum along who was pulling Michael. "Hey," I said to the three.
"Where'd Ashton go?" Michael asked looking around. I pointed to Ashton dragging the sick guy by his shirt towards the back door. Michael 'ahead' in recognition and turned back to us, "'Well see' huh?" He smiled
I rolled my eyes at him bringing up what I had said yesterday. "We did see. And I chose to come." I said.
"We're always happy to see you, Gigi," Calum said smiling at me, I hadn't talked to him in a while but he was just always with Maddie.
"I'd like to take the credit for it," Maddie said smiling proudly.
I rolled my eyes at her, "it was Michael's obnoxious voice actually."
Michael smiled at her in a mocking 'ha ha I win' kinda look but then it fell and he snapped his head towards me. "Wait what?"
I smiled brightly at him as he pouted, "I'm dying my hair back." He threatened.
My mouth was agape and I glared at him, "Rude Michael! We're twins." He shook his head before putting the hood of his hoodie over his head to hide his hair. "Not anymore."
"I liked it when it was black." Calum said, "Oo or the green."
"God I hated the green." I said, "It made my hair completely dead." Me and Michael alwasy dyed our hair the same color. It was fun, alittle weird, but it was fun.
"Your hair is always dead," Maddie said reaching out to touch my hair, making me smack her hand away.
"Maybe we should take a break after this color," I told Michael.
He nodded, "Yeah or we may have to shave off our heads. This is the 5th color this month."
"Speaking of shaving off our heads, where's Luke?" Calum said more to Michael than me.
I scrunched my eyebrows at him slightly, "why does shave heads make you think of Hemmings?"
Michael rolled his Eyes, "Calum shaved Luke's head in grade 5." Calum had a wide smile on his face as he remembered that day. I didn't remember that day, maybe we hadn't met yet but I only remembered Luke with long hair.
"I don't remember that," I said shrugging and turning around looking for the blonde boy for Calum. "If I see him I'll let you know."
"I need a drink." Maddie said looking at us, "One of you want to come with me?"
Calum nodded before Maddie grabbed his arm and pulled him along towards the kitchen. "I need one!" Michael said waving goodbye to me quickly before following the couple, who probably wanted to be alone, to the Kitchen.
I sighed looking around at the unknown faces. I didn't really hang out with people other than 5sos and Sugar's so this entire party was not in my comfort. I mean sure at school I knew everyone and everyone knew me but did I know them? Absolutely not.
Willow was gone probably smoking on the roof with her girlfriend. Kiara probably went home to be honest, I hadn't seen her all night. Maddie and Calum were making out, Ashton was nowhere to be seen and Michael was in the crowd partying.
Ashton's bed was always comfy. He had stuffed animals that he put under his bed when the guys came over but in reality, he slept with them every night. It always smelt nice in there, you wouldn't expect a teenage boy to have lived there. Clean laundry, lavender, citrus. It probably smelled better than my room.
So with that thought I ascended the stairs up to Ashton's room. I'd play on my phone, play his guitar, do something. Anything was better than standing alone at a party or following the only person you knew around like a sick puppy.
I twisted the knob of Ashton's room and opened the door. I immediately groaned seeing Luke hemmings on top of some girl now both staring at me.
"Put a fucking sock on the door hemmings." I groaned throwing my head back annoyed.
"Get the hell out Geo." He said glaring at me before throwing the pillow behind the girl's head at me.
"Hemmings? I thought your name was Luke?" The girl under him asked.
I stifled a laugh but failed miserably. Luke shot me a glare before turning back to the girl, "Hemmings is my last name."
"I thought it was Robert?" She asked.
Luke sighed closing his eyes and sliding off the girl, "That's my middle name." He mumbled, "Just go."
The girl pulled back on her jacket, still looking confused as she walked past me out the door. I sent her a cheeky smile as she did before turning back to Luke. "Got you a real keeper there," I said sarcastically motioning out the door with my head.
"At least I can get some if I want to." He grumbled sitting back down on the bed.
I rolled my eyes at him, "are you going to leave now? Kinda want Ashton's room."
"Absolutely." Luke said, "not." "I was here first so I will stay." He kicked back his Legs on Ashton's bed nuzzling himself into the bed.
"Yeah, but Ashton said I could have his room. And I'd hate to call Ashton to kick you out." I said shaking my head.
Luke thought for a minute before shaking his head and getting underneath the covers. "I'm not scared of Ashton. And I'm also not scared of my ex-girlfriend of four days."
"Four weeks." I corrected him.
"Four years!" Ashton yelled walking into the room. "You guys dated for four. Years. Years!" He said franticly.
"he is drunk," Luke said groaning earning a confused glance from sober Ashton. I looked at Luke with the same expression he was giving me before shaking my head, "I think I know how long we Dated."
"4 months at most," Luke said nodding in agreement.
Ashton let out an audible sigh, "At least you guys arent yelling at each other."
"Oh yeah. Back to that. Get out." Luke said pointing towards the door.
I shook my head, "fuck no. You leave." I said grabbing his shoes from the ground and throwing them out the door.
"Stop that." He said as I threw the other one out as well. I grabbed his phone out of his hands too throwing it out the door as well.
"Hey!" Luke yelled standing up to go retrieve his phone. I smiled as I shrugged off my jacket and jumped on the bed, digging myself under the covers.
"Bitch!" Luke yelled as Ashton started to close the door. I didn't know if he was talking to me or Ashton but we both flicked him off before shutting the door completely.
"Kiara told me you guys would be civil," Ashton said looking at me unamused.
I scrunched my eyebrows at him slightly, "that was me being civil. If I wasn't I would have thrown it out the window."
Blackout - Rafe Cameron x Reader
Summary: Drunk night with Rafe Cameron
warnings: angst, fighting, drugs, alcohol, blood, fluff, mentions of drunk driving (dont ever), nice rafe
WC: 4133
"Good Afternoon Mr. Cameron." I smiled lightly at Ward. He always tipped a twenty dollar bill at the end of the day. It was Friday which meant it was his weekly golf match against 2 of his buddies. I knew Ward from the days of me and Sarah laying out by her pool when my brother and her boyfriend would be doing god knows what.
"y/n how are you doing?" He asked smiling at me. I nodded, "Pretty good sir. Can I get for you anything?"
He hummed in response thinking, "Old fashion. Never too early for a drink." He laughed and I fake laughed in response. "Right out sir. On your tab?" He nodded
I turned away and walked into the inside and behind the bar pouring the drink, making it extra strong the way he liked it.
I walked out behind the bar holding the drink and walking toward the side doors. I went to open it but it opened for me.
My face fell as I saw a Rafe Cameron standing in front of me blocking the exit. "y/n." He said smiling at me wickedly.
I gritted my teeth and looked up at the boy. "Rafe. I'm trying to bring this drink to your dad so excuse me." I said to the boy annoyed.
"Oh, I got it." He said grabbing the drink from my hand before I could even say anything. I frowned my eyebrows at the nice gesture, "Okay." I mumbled before turning back around and walking back into the room.
"Excuse miss, can I get beer?" A man said at the bar. I nodded and walked behind the counter grabbing a beer and popping the top off of it handing it to him.
"y/n! Can you make a strawberry daiquiri?" My coworker Elise said. "Sure babe," I said grabbing the mix out of the mini fridge and I poured the mix in the blender along with ice and rum.
After I made the drink I walked out and handed it to my coworker. Walking past Mr. Cameron's seat I saw he didn't have a drink. "Did you want another drink?" I asked.
"I never got my first one." He said. My jaw clenched and I looked behind Mr. Cameron to see Rafe finishing off the drink, setting it down at the counter, a smug smile on his face.
"My apologies sir. I must have accidentally given it to the wrong table." I said before walking back to the bar and making the drink. I sat it down infront of Mr. Cameron, "Here you go, sir. Again, I'm so sorry.
"Here's the money for the drink, I'm closing off the tab." He said handing me the exact change for the drink.
"Yes sir. You have a nice day." I said gritting my teeth. I looked up at Rafe's smug face, "Mr. Cameron is your son on your tab or is he paying for his own drinks? Just so I know." I asked.
Ward shook his head, "he should be on his own tab."
I smiled. "Of course sir."
I turned away before walking towards Rafe Cameron and the two other kooks who were with him, topper and Kelce.
"Waitress. 'Nother drink." He snickered holding up the empty glass.
"What the hell dude," I asked Rafe. "I could get fired, your underage. You made me lose a tip from your dad." I huffed.
Rafe shared a smile with his friends, "I don't think you heard me. Another. Drink. Waitress."
I rolled my eyes, ignoring his command and walking towards the only Cameron I could tolerate at the moment. "Hey Sarah, you need anything?" I asked. Her eyes lit up and she grabbed my arm pulling me down into the chair next to her. "yes! please y/n come to this party with me. Please I need you there." I sighed looking at the girl, "Tonight?" Sarah nodded, "Please, we can pregame at John b's and then go." I sighed once more, nodding at the girl, "Okay." She let out a giddy noise and hugged me. I wonder what I had got myself into.
___
"The parties at toppers house?" I said as we pulled up to Sarah's ex's house. "That's why you're here." She said smiling at me as she turned off the car.
"Why even come to your ex's party?" I asked.
"I have other friends that are here but they'll leave so I need you." She smiled. I sighed and got out of the car walking around the front. After a long day of working at the country club, this was exactly what I wanted to do. Hint the sarcasm.
"Come on it'll be fun. We get free drinks plus we're super late so it'll be over soon. Hey at the end well go back to my house okay?" She said. I nodded and followed her up to the house.
As soon as we stepped into it music was playing and I immediately went to the kitchen to grab a drink. I poured beer into a cup from the keg and handed it to Sarah before pouring me one. "Thanks." She said taking a sip.
I took a sip of my drink before we walked to the backyard where people were swimming, dancing, and kissing.
It was around 2 hours later and after many more drinks when topper, Sarah's ex finally spotted us.
"Sarah. Glad you could make it." Topper said walking up.
"Well, I didn't come because you asked me to," Sarah said taking another sip of her drink.
"Y/n." Topper smiled. I rolled my eyes at the boy but gave him a small one in return.
"Oo I'll be right back Kay?" Sarah said pointing to a group of girls who I assumed were from her school. I nodded as she walked away and looked back at Topper who was still there.
"We got some yayo in the basement if you want some," Topper said motioning to the back stairs.
I shook my head and took a sip of my drink, "I do not mix well with cocaine trust me." I shivered at the thought of 2 summers ago.
Topper looked at me confused but I waved him off before turning around and filling up my cup. I turned back around as I took my sip and Topper was now replaced with Rafe making me jump. "Jeez, dude. Your face is terrifying." I mumbled taking another sip of my drink.
"This party has a no pogues allowed policy." He said.
I raised my eyebrows up and then down, "must have missed the sign at the door. I only saw the no douche one." He scoffed at me, "Oh so I'm the douche huh? You got me in trouble with my dad because You put my drinks on his card." I thought back to yesterday when I did charge Rafe's drinks to his dad's tab. Per his request.
I shook my head, "I don't remember doing that." I said as I took a sip of my drink.
"Yeah, you did. And now I can't go to the country club anymore." Rafe said.
I laughed. "Oh, this is perfect! I love my job now. Can't wait to go to work on Monday."
Rafe smirked at me lightly, "Oh so you're not going to miss me?"
My smile fell, "No I will not miss you. You tip me pennies from your pocket. And that's worse than zero tips."
"Come on y/n I know you'll miss my pennies." He said hitting my shoulder with the back of his hand.
I smiled lightly at him and hit his shoulder back, "Will not!"
An arm slid around my waist tightly and I looked to my sighed and saw some guy who I had zero clue was. "Hey, I'm Zach." He smiled at me.
I held my arms infront of my chest and laughed awkwardly. "Hi," I mumbled.
"Move along buddy, making the girl uncomfortable," Rafe said motioning to me.
"Yeah, you are," I said trying to move his arm from around my waist.
"And who am I talking to?" Zach said letting go but now posting up to Rafe. "Her boyfriend?" He asked, "Or just some punk bitch."
Rafe now also squared up to the boy, they were both the Same in size and their faces were inches away.
"Guys please," I said rolling my eyes and setting down my drink.
"Oh, I get it," Zach said. "She's the bitch."
Rafe swung first making the guy fall back onto me, he's head hitting my nose before he regained his balance and swung at Rafe. I wiped my nose and saw there was blood on my hands. I muttered a quiet cuss word before I was pulled back.
"Y/n you're too close you're going to get- never mind youre already bleeding," Sarah said huffing annoyed at me. "Your brothers going to kill me."
"It may be broken," I mumbled touching it and wincing.
"You need to go to the hospital," Sarah stated.
I shook my head. "They don't do anything for a broken nose. Plus I have alcohol in my system and I'm broke so." I grabbed a napkin from the table and put it up to my nose. I turned around and saw that Rafe and Zach were still fighting, now surrounded by an audience.
Sarah's phone rang and she grabbed it out of her pocket and silently cursed, "I'll be right back." She jogged told the front door opened it and stepped out.
I sighed and turned back to Rafe and Zach. "Oh my gosh please someone knock someone else out or break it up!" I yelled at the two boys. My calls were drowned out by the yells of encouragement from their friends.
"Y/n I'm really sorry but I have to go. Topper said he'd give you a ride home." She said. I nodded and waved her away for her to go home. Wheezie probably got caught sleeping in Sarah's bed as a cover.
"Sweet it's still going on," Topper said from next to me sipping his drink.
"Can you please make it stop?" I groaned. He looked at the time on the oven and shrugged, "It is getting late. Go ahead."
"Hey!" I yelled. "Cops are down the street!" The swarm of people crowded around the fight dispersed and ran out the front, back, windows everywhere. Topper stood next to me sipping his drink and I grabbed another napkin from the counter throwing the used one in the sink.
Rafe tried to run also but I slapped my arm infront of his chest. "I wouldn't go home. Sarah's getting her ass beat."
"But the cops, I got coke on me, man." He said trying to go again. I put my hand on His chest again and pushed him forward alittle. "There's no cops Rafe."
"Right." He mumbled
-------
"You know, thanks for Getting my nose broken," I mumble looking down at the soaked napkin.
He rolled his eyes, "he called you a bitch!"
"Well, id rather be called a bitch than have my nose broken Rafe." I scoffed.
"I wouldn't!"
I threw the napkin into the sink and shook my hand. "I'll give you both right now bitch." I said putting my hand into a fist and pulling my arm back.
Topper grabbed my fist and looked at the tile floor we were on. "Go punch his nose outside or in the bathroom. I can't have any more blood on this floor." He said to us like we were crazy. "After you fight, come help me clean up." Top said grabbing a trash bag and walking away.
I blinked slowly at the boy before shrugging, "Outside or bathroom?"I asked Rafe.
He rolled his eyes and went into the pantry, "what you need is to fix your nose." He said diving threw the medical supplies.
"Shit Rafe it's crooked!" I yelled at him looking at the reflection of my phone.
"It's always been crooked." He said walking out of the cupboard with a box in hand. "Splint from when Topper broke his nose last year playing golf." He said proudly holding it up.
"Gross I don't want dirty splint! It still has dried blood on it." I wined swatting Rafe's hand away.
His face dropped, "then what do you want me to do?"
"CVS?" I asked. He sighed and shrugged throwing the splint in the trash. "Topper we're leaving, be back later!" He yelled grabbing his keys out of his pocket and walking to the front door.
I grabbed some more napkins for the car ride and followed him out of the door. Maybe it was the alcohol but he and I were getting along, well better than normal.
"Your seats are so far back," I mumbled pushing it up. "I'm not much shorter than topper and he's your only friend why does he have it pushed back so much?"
"I have other friends," Rafe said turning around to reverse his truck out of the driveway.
"Do you have any friends above the age of 17? Alittle creepy." I said raising my hands up in defense.
"Do you? Work friends don't count" He shot back.
A big smile went across my face as I started laughing, "We're losers!"
Rafe pulled into the CVS parking lot and unbuckled along with me. "You got a fake on you?" Rafe asked. I pulled out my wallet and grabbed my ID, "I'm Alexis Taylor from 15778 Shoreline road. My birthday is April 17, 1999, I'm 21."
He smiled at me, "Perfect. Because I need a beer and you need cigarettes."
"And you need to get a butterfly stitch for your face," I told Rafe. He touched his finger lightly to his temple where blood was now on his finger. "That guy didn't even land one hit on me, how did that happen?"
"Rafe you were losing that fight," I told him. He scoffed at me, "I was winning that fight."
I patted his shoulder, "keep telling yourself that."
I got out of the car and walked up on the sidewalk. Rafe opened up his car door and stepped out, "I definitely won." He said. He took another step before slipping and falling into a big puddle of old rainwater and mud. He sat up and wiped his annoyed face off. My lip quivered as I tried not to laugh. He stood up and wiped off his shorts and his blue shirt was now covered in dirty water.
"Don't. Don't say anything." He said pointing at me. I smiled and held up my hands in defense. I threw my napkins in the garbage can outside and I walked inside. I waved at the poor worker who looked as if he just wanted to go home and debated with himself on why he decided to work the night shift at a 24-hour CVS.
"You got. You got alittle something." I told Rafe as I grabbed a leaf off of his head.
"Yeah? Well, your nose started bleeding again." He said. I touched my nose and groaned at the blood on my hand. Nothing I could do now.
I walked to the back where the medical supplies were and grabbed a splint, butterfly stitches, and some bandaids. I'm sure Rafe got a scratch or two from that face plant in the parking lot.
Rafe came into the aisle with a case of beer and a bag of pretzels. "What's the pretzels for?" I asked.
"Don't you like pretzels?" He said.
"There my favorite." I smiled, "Okay super important question."
"silver splint or nude split?" I held both up to my nose.
Rafe thought for a moment, "Nude. Silver clashes." I nodded and put the silver one back.
"Ready?" I asked and he nodded. We walked back up to the front and we placed all our stuff on the counter infront of the poor dude who just wanted to go home.
"Pack of Marlboro too please," I said grabbing cash out of my wallet. I smiled lightly giving the man my fake ID.
The man looked between me and Rafe, "You guys look like hell." He said before ringing up the items grabbing the cigarettes and putting them in the bag.
I looked up at the back mirrors that were placed all along the wall and I laughed, I hit Rafe's chest and pointed to it and he laughed too.
Blood streamed out my nose and dripped down onto my shirt. It covered the entire bottom half of my face I guess thinning out from the alcohol. Rafe stood next to me covered in mud and soaking wet. His hair was messy and he had blood lightly on his temple.
We looked insane.
Rafe lead his head towards my ear,
"We look insane."
--------
A cigarette dangled from my lip from the bed of Rafe's truck and a beer in my hand. He threw his beer can behind him and opened up a new one.
"Stop moving," I mumbled trying to put the butterfly stitch on Rafe's temple. He took a sip of his beer making me pull my hands away and glare at him. "What did I just say?"
"Sorry princes." He said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and placed my wrists lightly on his face as I lined up the stitch on one side pulling lightly and matching it on the other.
I felt Rafe's eyes on me and he moved his head lightly so he could look at me better. I laughed lightly, "really!" I shook my head at the wrinkled stitch.
"You look really nice." He said.
My breath hitched and blinked slowly, "how much to drink have you had today?"
"A lot. And some coke." He said. I shook my head and grabbed a bandage out of the box.
I opened it with my teeth and patted my leg. Rafe swung his leg up on my lap and I raked up his shorts a tad so I could put the bandage on a cut on his knee.
"Kiss it better?" He asked. I grimaced at his muddy knee, "No that's disgusting."
He groaned, "What about the one on my head?"
"Are you going to kiss my nose?" I asked. He grimaced also, "There's dried blood."
"Exactly," I said pushing myself off of the truck. "Well, I'm going to get topper to take me home."
Rafe groaned, "It's not even late! It's barely 3."
Waving my finger at him in a no motion, "You said that an hour ago."
"Lemme drive you home." He begged.
"You're drunk Rafe I am not having you operate a vehicle. Come on, it's kinda cold." I said holding out my hands. He grabbed them and hopped down grabbing the CVS bag and throwing me the bag of opened pretzels. I opened it and ate one as he closed the tailgate of his truck.
"Topper?" I said as I pushed open the door of his house. "Ready to drive me home?" I said in a sing song voice.
I looked in the living room to see the boy dead asleep on the couch, mouth open, trash bags tied throughout the room. We totally forgot to help him clean up.
"Well, he's asleep guess I have to drive you," Rafe said twirling his keys on his pointer finger. I grabbed the keys and banged them on the counter, "I'll just sleep in the guest room. Come on let's get you to bed."
I said grabbing his hand and pulling him up the stairs. Rafe stumbled on the 4th step almost falling making me giggle lightly, "Shh!" I shushed him and probably myself. "Shh." He said back as he walked up the stairs. We were both alittle more drunk than we had bargained for.
I guided the boy to topper's room and sat him on the bed. "Shoes?" I said. He took off his shoes and put them in my hand, "shoes."
I opened up topper drawer, pulled out some red plaid pajama bottoms, and threw them to Rafe. "No shirt." He mumbled pulling off his own.
"Wait till I turn around for you to change asshat," I mumbled turning around.
"I don't care." He said as I heard his shorts being pulled down.
"I know you don't. But I do." I said rubbing my head. After moments of silence, I turned around and hesitantly turned around to see Rafe under the covers.
"Perfect. Now. Go to bed." I said picking up his dirty clothes and throwing them into Topper's bathroom.
He groaned and moved to the far side of the bed, "the guest bed isn't made." He muttered with his eyes closed.
"Couch," I stated.
"I would not lay on that."
"Floor."
Rafe groaned, "Come on just lay right here I don't bite. Hard."
I rolled my eyes and opened up toppers door to leave. "I'm joking. Y/N come on just get some sleep." He said. "Look I'll face this way." He said turning to face the wall.
I rolled my eyes and slipped off my shoes knowing he wouldn't shut up if I didn't. I grabbed a shirt from Toppers drawer and slipped off mine and put it on. "Face that way the whole time," I growled as I lay down next to him, facing his direction.
I closed my eyes and tried to go to sleep, not going to lie topper's bed was 10 times better than my own.
Hot breath hit my face and my eyes fluttered open to see Rafes face right in front of mine. His eyes open and his breath smelt of beer. "Hi." He said smiling.
I wanted to roll my eyes at him or tell him to turn the other way but the alcohol in me made me smile back. "Hi," I whispered back.
Rafe's hand cupped the side of my cheek, his thumb rubbing over my cheek. He leaned in slowly pressing his lips gently onto mine and the crazy thing was;
I kissed him back.
----
Weeks passed and even though Rafe was not allowed at the country club he still came on any day that wasn't Friday knowing that was his dad's day. He didn't mention a single thing about that night with their little adventure.
To be honest, y/n wouldn't have remembered it if she didn't wake up next to him. y/n didn't think she drank that much but then she realized she and Sarah pre-gamed with some hard liquids at John b house.
Y/n is what she would call a functional drunk, you couldn't even tell she was drunk.
Rafe was drunk and high and probably didn't even remember when he got her nose broken, which was still healing.
She wouldn't dare tell JJ she hung out with the kook. Or even Kie. Kie was the girl's best friend and she wouldn't even speak about that night with her.
To be honest, that night with Rafe, the one that she could barely remember and was splotchy in her mind, was the best night she had in years.
~~~~~~~
Rafe Cameron pulled the butterfly stick off of his skin, rubbing his ringer over the now-closed wound. He still couldn't quite remember where he got the cut but he assumed it was at Topper's party. He pretty much had a blackout. He didn't think he drank that much but he remembered he came over early and pregamed on some hard alcohol.
He just knew we went and then he woke up in Topper's room with a massive headache. He wondered why his clothes were disgusting or why there was a CVS bag full of empty beer cans and cigarettes in the bed with him.
He didn't even smoke.
He assumed he and Kelce got into some stuff but when Kelce told him he didn't even go to the party it left him even more confused. When he asked Topper what had happened he just said "Not my place dude." With his hands up in defense.
Even more confusing was the blood on the passenger side of his car.
"Did I kill someone last week?" He asked Kelce and Topper as they walked into the country club around noon on a Monday.
"You are thinking about it too much man!" Kelce said rubbing races shoulders, "Relax."
They sat down at a table outside before they would go golf. "Nope, I got it!" He said snapping his fingers together. "Pretzels. Why do I remember pretzels that's so stupid I hate pretzels." He mumbled putting his fingers on his temples.
"What can I get for you boys?" Y/n asked walking up to the table of kooks making Rafe's head snap towards her. "Sprite, Coke, and Fanta?" She asked.
"Hey y/n, your nose is healing well." Topper said.
She touched the splint on her nose lightly, "another week and it should be fine."
"You didn't break that nose in my car did you?" Rafe asked. The girl let out a uh before she shook her head, topper shot her a smirk. "Damn it," Rafe muttered turning to face forward.
"Uh, those drinks are fine thanks," Kelce said waving her off. "Dude what was that."
"You know who's the only person under 40 that likes pretzels? Y/n!" Rafe said huffing, looking over at y/n grab a pretzel from a bowl on the bar counter.
Kelce laughed looking over at Topper and then back to Rafe, "Dude I think you're stretching it."
"I know she has something to do with last Friday."Rafe turned to look at her. "I just know it."

Loving her - JJ x John B!Sister
Wc: 542
I sat next to my twin brother John B on the couch of our home, him playing with a piece of paper and me drawing on my hand anxiously.
Me and JJ had been secretly dating for a while now and I told JJ I wanted to tell JB. I knew JB wasn't going to take it well since his idea of a perfect relationship was me with zero guy.
"What's up with you?" He asked me.
I looked up quickly. "What?"
He never looked up from the small paper he was folding. "You only draw on your skin when you're anxious." He said flicking the paper away, he turned to me, "So I ask again. What's up?"
I took a shaky breath and looked at my brother. "Please don't get upset."
He groaned. "I already hate where this conversation going."
I clicked the pen a few times anxiously. "I have a boyfriend."
He laughed alittle but then his face fell. "What."
My face twisted and I clicked the pen a few more times. "I told you not to get upset."
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "Your right, your right. I should support you like you support me and Sarah." He opened them up and smiled a forced smile. "So who's my future brother in law?"
About that time the door to the chateau swung open and JJ appeared. "Hey yo twindles." He smiled making extra long eye contact with me.
I moved closer to John B on the couch so JJ could sit next to me. "Dang bro your face is really red what are we talking about?"
"Y/n was just telling me how she has a boyfriend."
JJ looked at me. "Oh, we're doing that today?"
John B looked at JJ confused. "You knew?"
He nodded. "Oh yeah, man. I was the first person to know."
I giggled lightly and nodded. "He was."
"You told JJ before your own brother?" JB said scrunching his eyebrows.
I patted JJ's chest and leaned back against the couch. "I'm taping out your in."
"My turn?" He asked making me nod. "I'm having sex with your sister."
I gasped and slapped JJ square across the face. "Ow!" He said to put his hand against it. "I'm sorry that was pure reactionary, I'm so sorry that was just an insane thing to come out of your mouth."
maybe alittle more Suttle next time? Like hey John B I love your sister and we're dating?" I said my face full of fear.
"Oh yeah, I'm loving her alright."
I let out a groan and looked over at John b who was red from ear to ear with the blankest expression on his face ever.
"John b ignore JJ," I said almost in a whisper.
"Please tell me JJ is not the guy you're dating. Out of all the people in the world you chose JJ." He said rubbing his face.
"I chose her but yeah we are," JJ said smiling at John b annoyance.
"Fine fine I don't even care anymore." He said raising his hands and standing up and walking out the door.
"Well, that went better than expected," I said resting just my head on JJ's shoulder.
"That it did princess."

Someone who values you - JJ x Reader
'You deserve someone who values you'
Wc:288
I wrapped my jacket around me a little tighter as I checked the time once again. 47 minutes late. After 11 unread text messages and 2 unanswered calls, I assumed my date wasn't coming.
It seemed as if this was a recurring thing for me, getting stood up on dates. I sighed wiped my eyes, stood up, and walked to my car to get in. I don't understand why I even tried to date If all I did was get stood up.
I drove to The château where all my friends were hanging out. I would have much rather hung out with them than get dressed up in my shortest dress, and my tallest heels, and curl my hair for two hours.
I got out of my car and walked up to the porch. "Y/n your back! That was a short date. Was it small?" JJ asked.
I huffed and threw my purse on the couch, opened up the cooler grabbed a beer, and sat down next to kie.
"He didn't bother showing up," I said opening the tab and taking a large gulp of it.
"I'm sorry y/n. Guys are dumb anyways you don't need them." Kie said patting my thigh.
"Yeah, we're dumb." John B agreed.
"Well, thanks but that doesn't make me feel much better."
"Most guys that stand girls up on dates are self-conscious of their own selves and use standing other people up to reflect their own self-loathing," Pope said.
I laughed alittle. "Thanks, pope."
"You just deserve someone that values you," JJ said. My smile fell and I looked at the boy thoughtfully. I smiled a small smile at him and took another sip of my beer.
"Yeah, I think I do."

Loss - John b X Sister
WC: 628
I bit my fingernails nervously tears already streaming down my face as Pope rubbed circles on my back. I hated the plan, to begin with. We 4 were all sitting down in a tent waiting for the deputy to come back and just tell us they found him. That's he's okay.
I loved my brother. I know he didn't kill the sheriff and he knows that too so I don't know why he has to run.
The deputy walked in and pushed his hood off his head and we stood up. "Did you find them?" Pope asked.
"No." He said looking at us with sad eyes.
"No? What do you mean no?" I cried starting to luge forward but JJ pulled me back.
"So they got away?" Kie asked. I knew that's not what he meant.
"We uh, lost them." He said, "I'm sorry." My teeth gritted so hard. "Isn't that your job? You can't even do your job right?" I yelled at them trying to tear them away from JJ's arms.
"You lost them?" Pope said looking in utter disgust. "What do you mean you lost them, like like they're gone? What are you talking about."
"They took an open boat into a tropical depression Pope." He said looking at the teens sadly.
"So they're dead?" Kie asked. My knees buckled at those words and JJ caught me and held me up. The whole world was dizzy.
"We don't know."
"You drove them straight threw the storm man! Are you kidding me? Come here!" JJ yelled pushing the deputy.
"I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you, you bastard!" He yelled as the other deputy tried to break him off of him. "JJ stop!" Kie yelled.
But it was all cloudy now.
"He didn't kill anyone and you know that!" Pope yelled.
"We're still looking for him alright?"
My body couldn't react for some reason to how JJ, Pope, and Kies were. They sobbed into each other's shirts and I Just stood there.
"Y/n do you need something?" Shoupe asked me. I opened up my mouth to talk but nothing came out. I shook my head instead.
"Y/n/n." JJ said standing infront of you, him crying himself. "I think I need to sit now," I mumbled falling back into a chair and looking up at the tarp ceiling.
"Y/n." Kie cried looking at me and grabbing my hands. "I don't know why we're all sad," I mumbled. "He's not dead." Kie looked at me sorrowfully and looked up at the boys.
Soon the parents of Kie and Pope came in and hugged their children. Telling them it was going to be okay. JJ and I just looked at each other awkwardly. Reality never set in completely.
"Y/n." Kiera's mom said sitting next to me. "Are you okay?" She's asked me. Stupid question for the time being if you asked me.
"Yeah," I said. She looked at me sadly, tears on her own face. "You don't have to be strong." She said. I nodded. "There's nothing to be sad over he's not dead!" I yelled standing up. "Just like dad He's not dead."
My friends and parents and friends looked at me like I was a loose cannon. "He's going to pull a Houdini right JJ?" I laughed dryly at the comment, referring to what JJ had said previously in the day.
"Y/n." Kie said sadly. "No! What's it with all the y/n? I'm fine!"
Kie pulled me into a hug and I sobbed in her neck. "I lost all my family kie." I sobbed grabbing her hard to bring her closer. "I know." She mumbled.
Eventually, pope and JJ joined in and all just cried.
Cried for the loss of a friend and a brother.

Changing - Rafe X Reader
'I don't expect you to change. I don't want you to'
WC:235
I slammed the door of my boyfriend's rafe House and huffed walking down the road. I can't believe I walked this far just to get in a fight with my boyfriend. "This is why I don't date pogues." He had yelled at me making me stop in my tracks and walk out his door.
We were fighting about how I never seemed to fit up to his standards. My dress is too short, too long. My hair never matched the occasion and my tennis shoes had a few too many dirt stains on them for the place we were at. It started when I asked him if he was ashamed of me because I lived in the cut. And I sure got my answer all right.
I turned around as I heard the sound of a bike and I scoffed seeing Rafe driving towards me. "Great," I muttered wiping my tears from my face and composing myself.
The bike stopped and Rafe hopped off throwing his helmet on the ground.
"Baby I'm sorry." He said and I scoffed. "No Rafe this time you actually hurt me. You don't get to drive up and say a sorry and it all be fine."
"I don't expect you to change. I don't want you to change" he said,
"I love you for the way you are. I don't care if you grew up with wolves I'd still love you."

Everybody talks - Topper X reader
'People will talk. Let them. I don't mind.'
WC:302
I waited in line to get my drink filled at the keg when an arm wrapped around my waist. "Hey babe." He whispered and I smiled, putting my hand on his. "Hey, top."
Me and Topper had been secretly dating for the past months. Him being a kook and me being a pogue, would ruin his reputation. He was very outspoken on his hate for Pogues until one day he ran into y/n Rutledge and fell in love.
He whipped his hand out from around and waved at Rafe and Kelce who were walking up.
"Dude this girl over there won't shut up about you. I think you could lay her." Kelce said standing next to Topper. "I'm good." Topper said.
"What's been up with you lately? You never wanna go out or anything!" Rafe huffed. Topper smiled to himself "I got a girl."
Kelce and Rafe almost groaned at the same time. "And you didn't tell us?" Topper shook his head "Nah y'all would ruin it."
I smiled to myself listening to their conversation.
"She's a pogue." He said and I was almost shocked that he said it. We had plenty of conversations about how it was okay that he was ashamed of me but he always told me he wasn't.
"Your joking," Rafe said. Topper shook his head and smiled "Y'all would meet her sometime." Rafe and Kelce scoffed and walked out of the line. Topper grabbed my arm and spun me around.
"Hi." He said and I smiled at him. "Hi."
He leaned in and kissed me and I smiled into the kiss. I broke away and looked over at Rafe and Kelce who were talking to them self glaring at us.
"People will talk. Let them. I don't mind." He said and leaned back in for another kiss.

Jealous - Pope x Reader
'Are you jealous ?'
WC:341
"Pope put me down!" I yelled laughing hitting my boyfriend's back as he ran into the water.
"You sunbathe too much!" He said setting me down in the water. I huffed and went under to get my hair wet and I slicked it back.
"We should have brought our boards." He grumbled looking at the waves. I smiled at wrapped my arms around his neck. "Well, you can just spend time with me," I said smiling and he kissed me. The water around me splashed and I sighed "And JJ." I mumbled
"Hey guys!" Jj said swimming to where we were.
"Hey JJ." I smiled at the boy and Pope almost sighed. I patted his chest and let go of him.
"We should have brought our boards! Look at these waves." He said looking out to the water. "You should go get them," Pope mumbled.
"Wanna come help me y/n?" Jj asked and I shrugged "Sure." Jj nodded and I started walking towards him before Pope grabbed my hand pulling me back.
"Babe." He mumbled looking at me. "I'm just going to get our boards okay? Do you wanna come with us?" I asked looking at him. He nodded.
"We'll meet back up okay JJ?" I told him and he nodded.
As me and pope was walking to my house and stayed quiet. "What if we just leave him." He asked. I looked at him confused "Pope JJ your best friend." He rolled his eyes at me and I slapped his shoulder. "Don't roll your eyes at me, boy."
"Have you seen the way he looks at you? It's like I'm not even there." Pope huffed. I turned towards my boyfriend
"Are you jealous?" I asked him and Pope's head fell.
"Yes! Okay? JJ gets every girl he looks at and I don't want him to get you too."
I stopped and put my hand on his cheek. "Babe I'm not going anywhere."
He smiled and kissed my hand.
"Now how bout we stay at my house?" I smiled at him.

JJ x reader
"Can you picture it? Me and you together?"
WC: 256
"I got you a drink," I said handing JJ a beer. "Thanks y/n."
We sat on John B. Peir watching the sun set over the water.
"How's you and Jess?" I asked JJ. He nodded "We're good." There was an awkward silence after. "She doesn't do a lot. She just wants to watch TV with me." He said sighing.
"How are you and Matt?" He asked. I nodded. "We're okay." I sighed and kicked the water with my foot. "He ditches me every time we go out together."
JJ laughed alittle "Guess both our love lives aren't too well." I nodded and took a drink of my beer.
"Can you picture it? Me and you together?" Jj asked. I looked at him confused. "Hypothetically." He shrugged.
I nodded "I know you wouldn't stand me up or leave me in the middle of dinner. I know you wouldn't talk to me about football until my ear fell off." I giggled.
"Well, you don't when cable so I know you wouldn't make me watch TV with you all the time. You'd go fishing with me and sneak out with me to go late-night swimming." He smiled. "I know you'd tell me you love me every day." He continued looking me in the eyes.
"And you'd tell me how gorgeous I looked every day, even if I didn't," I said.
"You always look gorgeous." He whispered. I smiled and leaned in towards the boy. His lips met mine and I smiled into the kiss.
"Maybe we don't have to imagine."
