Meet the Writer: Owlfox!

Hi, I'm Owlfox, @peredhil-loki on Tumblr.. As an English major and professional writing minor with a life-long passion for writing, I have always loved reading books and writing my own stories. Writing comes naturally to me, and it is a skill and an art I hope to mold into a lasting career. I particularly enjoy fantasy writing and crafting my own worlds and cultures. My favorite authors are JRR Tolkien, JK Rowling, Stephen King, and Agatha Christie; each has inspired how I do what I do, and allowed me to hone and nourish my own voice and style. This is my first experience with a zine, and I'm honored to have the chance to work on it with others! My work for the zine will focus on an aspect of one of my own fantasy worlds.

Meet the Arist: Hailey Rose!

Hey y’all, I’m Hailey Rose Kosinski, a San Diego based freelance illustrator. I studied at CSU Long Beach and earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in December 2016. I’m also an indie game developer working with Astronaut T-Rex Studios. Some of my biggest influences are Claire Hummel, Jake Wyatt, and Edgar Payne. I absolutely adore drawing fantasy genre content, and I am excited to contribute my work to the OC zine. Follow me on my social media for more updates on my work!

Meet the Writer: Sky!

Hello, I'm Skylar (Sky), and can be found at @fairylights101writes on tumblr and Fairylights101 on AO3. I've been writing for 6 years, most recently for the Haikyuu!!, BNHA, and Voltron fandoms, as well as planning an original trilogy for the near future. Some of my most recent works include Cactus Flower , Threadbare, and Lamprima Aurata. This is one of the first zines I'll be participating in (as well as the BNHA Quirk Zine and the Haikyuu!! Setters and Aces Zine), so I'm very excited to be creating something featuring some of my favorite mythical creatures.

Meet the Artist: Celestsadira!

Greetings and salutations. I'm @celestsadira and I've had a drive to create for as long as I can remember. My style really started to develop during high school. I was watching YTV and this amazing new show Sailor Moon started and my creative world expanded. Sailor Moon led to Magic Knight Rayearth (and other CLAMP works), Slayers, Inuyasha, and on and on from there. I'm really excited to be able to contribute something with all these amazing artists and writers. <3

Meet the Writer: Chris!

Hello, I am Chris H, @magnificentophidian , and I am one of the many writers for the Fantasy Fanzine. Growing up I had an intense passion for history and the stories they told. Seeing how so many cultures have so many wonderful stories, mythologies and customs, I have always been interested in telling stories of my own. I grew up reading a huge variety of books from the classics of literature to studying a variety of mythologies, so some of my most influential authors are Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, Jules Verne, Alexander Dumas and Ovid. I am working alongside an entire roster of talented artists and writers who are all dedicated to helping to develop this fantasy zine, and I must say it is an honor to not only walk alongside such giants but to be able to support one another to help develop, refine and elevate one another in this wonderful group project. Thank you for your interest and your support of us and giving us the chance to entertain and provide you with stories and illustrations of our fantastic worlds, and we hope for even a little while, you get lost in the fantasy.

Meet the Artist: Tweet!

Hi, I’m Tweet. I’m usually a writer, but I’m actually producing art for the OC fantasy zine. This is a little strange for me as I usually gravitate towards sci-fi; some of my favorites are Star Trek (Voyager, especially), X Minus One and anything by Bradbury. For this piece I’m collaborating with writer Jay to create a political fae-human meeting. We’re both very excited to show off our joined universe, and I’m excited to see what magical mechanics the other contributors publish. My inspirations for the faerie universe come from the Elder Scrolls series, The Chronicles of Prydain and Earthsea. Additionally, I’ll be editing for both the OC and Haikyuu zine. I’m eager to make everyone’s writing sparkle just a little more.

Meet the Writer: S.A. Enloe!

Hello! I go by the pen name S.A. Enloe, but I'm better known by my art tag @azucenaofshili . I'm overjoyed to be writing for the Fantasy Zine project and hope that everyone enjoys stories with a twist on magic. Writing has been my passion since I could first piece words together, although my style has evolved as I've grown. While some of my nonfiction and children's stories have been published, my focus has shifted towards adult fantasy and science fiction. My short stories can be found on my website, Writings by S.A. Enloe, including one of my favorite pieces, "An Old Friend," which is a short supernatural tale that was highly inspired by events in my own life. All that being said, I'm excited to write something fun and different for this zine and I can't wait for everyone to see the wonderful art that the contributors are creating! Hi! I’m @der-gao and I’m very glad to take part of this zine! I’m an animation student who really love to spend time doodling for tumblr! Meet the Artist and Writer: Sari!

Hi, I’m Sariana (aka Sari), a contributor to the OC Zine for art and a story, and I like to make things! Currently a 28 yr old housewife since mid-2015 and my mother’s caregiver since early 2016. Along with art and writing, I enjoy crocheting, sewing, and cooking! I ADORE sci-fy, magical, and fantasy stories, if it has mermaids or space or dragons or mythical creatures or even aliens I’m a sucker for it (chicken as I am). My fanfiction and original writing comes from a large mix of things that I can’t readily pin down, but my current favorite novels are Anne McCaffrey and her son Todd’s Dragonriders of Pern series (they’re such nice people at the Weyr Room), Garth Nix’s Old kingdom/Abhorsen series, and DJ MacHale’s Pendragon Chronicles, to name a few currently on my bookshelf (manga/comic list not included). 

I’ve only ever written small amount for fandoms, such as Princess Tutu, Yugioh, and a few others. Much of it never saw the backlit light of day. A lot of my artistic influences stem from my childhood in the 90’s, when Cartoon Network was still new and just launched Toonami. I believe my art stems most from 90’s animation (and earlier) that I was able to watch, such as Disney, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, and Cardcaptor Sakura (CLAMP). 

I’m incredibly excited to work with this awesome group of people on the OC Zine! My favorite part out of creating is to share my works with others, so I’m excited to share with you all and witness this outpour of talent. Meet the Artist - Anviree!

Hi, I’m @anviree an artist for the Fantasy Fanzines! I’m just a student drawing in my free time, but I’m always up for some artistic practice, that’s why I joined the Fanzines. I’m trying out different styles for my contributions, so I hope you will enjoy what I’m preparing! I'm mostly influenced by random internet artists, but I’m also a big fan of Naoki Urasawa (even though my style does not at all resemble his) and CLAMP studio. I’m really excited about the zine because there are so many great artists and writers whom I look up to, and I know that it will be a wonderful final work. Hiya, I'm Erin aka @sheagar on Tumblr and other places! I went to art school for 3 years but didn't finish (hope to eventually!) so I'm mostly just drawing in my free time at the moment. I don't have any specific influences, but I have a healthy appreciation for Anime and Manga and a number of American cartoons. I hope to one day actually draw the webcomic I've been planning and possibly get a job as a storyboard artist! (That's Fritz btw, from my comic The Fissured)

Meet the Writer: jay!

Hello world I'm jay, @bicyclestandard on Tumblr, lowermiddlechild on ao3. I've been writing for years, started doing fanfiction a few years back with snk, moved into hq last year, and have recently started on some bnha stuff so idk, keep an eye out for me haha. I have a few fics I'm pretty proud of, so go check out my ao3. Also, I'm a huge fan of doing zines so keep an eye out for my work in the hq writers zine, the ushijima zine, the hq jobs zine, the matsuhana zine… etc. I'll be writing for both the hq fantasy zine and the oc fantasy zine so please check them both out! We’ve got a great group of people working on both zines and I'm hype to see how they come out. My piece for this zine is vaguely based on the song ‘house of the rising sun,’ so keep a look out for that and I hope you enjoy the work we put out!

Hello! I’m @thecapturedspy on Tumblr and @casey_shaffer on Twitter and I’m an artist for both the Haikyuu and OC zines! I’m really excited to be included with the very talented bunch of people contributing to the project. I went to school for animation but after graduating, I discovered I much preferred illustration. Style-wise my biggest inspirations are Akihiko Yoshida and Cory Godbey, but I consider myself a bit of a chameleon. I love doing fantasy pieces and I hope you all enjoy the final product!
