Still shaken from the events of their experimentation with the symbiote and its effects on him, Harry lays on his back staring blankly up at the ceiling as he catches his breath and recovers. Black blobs crowd the edges of his vision, dissipating just as quickly as his eyes can focus on them.

Venom’s unhappy with his decision to let this happen, but it’s stitching up his injuries and allowing the doctor to observe it in action all the same. It doesn’t have much of a choice; it can’t let it’s host die. However moronic it’s deemed him to be.

When Otto speaks, Harry’s eyes move to bring him into focus, but the rest of him remains still, making it easier for Venom to close up the gashes in his chest.

Those words carry tremendous weight, and Rafael can hear it in Otto’s delivery. He wonders–in the time it takes him to fully digest what’s been said–what his own list would look like if he were to write them all down. But to do so doesn’t suit him; the grudges that simmer in the back of his mind are far too valuable a fuel to put down on paper. It’s too clinical, too meticulous, and he’s not sure his vocabulary is extensive enough to capture the essence of those hurts.

Besides, they’ve become a part of him; a part that drives him and pushes him out of bed every morning just to spite those he holds grudges against. It might not be healthy, but it keeps him going.

“That might work for you, Doc,” he acknowledges, nodding slowly as he drags a thoughtful hand across the stubble of his jawline. “But I like keeping mine a bit closer.”
