Octonauts Headcanons- Fame (mostly).

inspired by @octoagentmiles and I's conversation. hope you don't mind me tagging ya.

The junior octo-agents definitely brag about being related to the octonauts- mostly Pinto, since he admires them all (especially his brother) so much.

Definitely have been featured in environmental magazines/websites/etc many times.

Dashi manages the Octonauts social media accounts, Kwazii sometimes helps out as the more social media-savvy people.

Captain Barnacles barely uses social media, yet he's got more followers than all of the other crew members combined. He's oblivious to how many people are simping for him.

Currently, there is an debate over if the cat that looks suspiciously like Calico Jack is actually Calico Jack and oh wait, why the fuck does Lieutenant Kwazii look like him???

Speaking of Kwazii, while the team doesn't really call him Lieutenant (he corrects them and gets really embarrassed if they call him that) the media/fans/anyone who isn't an Octonaut will call him Lieutenant and it makes him feel weird.

The vegimals are top secret at all costs. There is absolutely no hint of them at all in any of the posts, videos, or the creature report. If any media, whether that be journalists, reporters, etc, come aboard the Octopod, they hide in the secret launch bay room.

Shellington's terrified about what would happen if the public found out.

Speaking of the creature report/octo-report, it's an actual thing that they do for an environmental educational program. The song is aimed towards younger kids, but there are definitely older fans.

The program has fun, relatively simple videos for kids as well as more serious videos by the crew on what they do in the field.

They are an legendary crew of explorers, researchers and rescuers, and the many, many creatures rescued by them can attest to that. If you see their logo, you know you are saved.

The Octo-Agents show up in varying degrees on social media. The kids (Peri, Pinto, Koshi, Orla & Orson) don't show up at all since they're minors, while Calico Jack and Professor Natquik tend to avoid it. Ranger Marsh, funnily enough, shows up the most out of the Octo-Dads as he's an prominent park ranger and people were bound to talk when he joined the Agents.

As of the others, Pearl shows up a lot since she is related to Shellington, and people see them as an duo, but also due to her outstanding work on aquatic plants and how they play an incredible, but underlooked role in aquatic ecosystems as food and indicators of the water's health.

On that note, Selva also appears often as well, raising awareness on the issues endangered and poached (yes, plant poaching is a thing) plants face. Unfortunately, this is an severely overlooked issue, and not a lot of people are aware of it. Selva hopes to fix that.

Talks about how it harms ecosystems and also harms local wildlife as the poached plants accidentially become invasive species.

Ranger Marsh also accompanies Selva for an PSA, as carnivorous plants from the Everglades are often one of the most poached plants.

Can you tell I really hate plant poaching? 😅 

Ryla is already an established author, so she also is seen time to time to talk about the work she does exploring caves and studying its wonders.

Bud is a bit camera-shy, so he doesn't show as much. Tweak will probably show him off, much to his embarrassment.

Paani is also pretty prominent due to him being the first Octo-Agent recruit, and also due to his work in Ecohydrology- the study of how water and organisms interact with one another.

He has an research paper on water frogs that is 3/4 serious, important research and 1/4 melodramatic tearjerker telling Ernesto's story.

Min and Professor Inkling were well-known as an traveling, adventuring duo back in the day, and she certainly isn't stopping now. She shows up from time to time mapping out habitats and the extent of habitat destruction. Also helps keep track of creature territories, in case the population drops or an argument breaks out between two gangs on turf wars (this has happened before, there's an video of her and two lionesses going full beast mode on two prides who were arguing about territory and who gets what. That video went viral, it was recorded by a pride member living for the drama).

Tracker, as Captain Barnacle's protégé, has garnered a lot of attention, but he's pretty shy about it. He does show up often and feels a bit of pressure because of who his mentor is. Gets an heart attack every time he's recognized.

Same with Calico Jack. And Professor Natquik.

The younger polar scouts (which I hc is made up of all sorts of polar creatures, not just polar bears) adore Tracker as an badass scout leader and outpost agent and see Professor Natquik as this wise old Professor that knows everything. He likes that, secretly. Loves kids.

I wasn't asking for clout when I was posting this. I wasn't looking for notes. I purposefully took tags out of the post BECAUSE it was getting too much attention in a way that wasn't my intention at all. I didn't post looking to create more problems. I posted because I was worried about certain conflicts in the fandom and it wasn't directed at any one argument or blog. I literally haven't posted for months before this and am mostly a passive user especially in this fandom. Why would I be chasing clout?

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. Again, that wasn't what I was looking to do. I shouldn't have posted and that was a mistake on my part.

Okay so I know the Octonauts fandom has been tumultuous lately, but can we please PLEASE just be respectful of each other? We're all entitled to our own opinions, I understand. Like or dislike what you want. But liking or disliking something doesn't give you an excuse to be rude to someone who doesn't agree. I know my posting won't solve anything, but I genuinely believe that everyone here is capable of being mature and stepping back and realizing. hey. this is a kids show. We should listen to and be friendly and considerate with each other.

We're all here for the same reason and that's because we enjoy the show and wanna have fun. Be nice. It's not that hard.

Octo-tober Day 3: Monster

I've wanted to post some Octonauts fanfics for a while now, and Octo-tober seems like a good way to test the waters! I don't plan on posting all of my writing for this event, which is why I'm just now starting at day three :p It's because I finally wrote something (I think) good enough to post. Anyways. This is set right before the Monster Map episode.

Peso has about a million cousins and uncles and aunts and grandparents. You can see a photo of some of them, in a panorama hung on the wall by his bed. Dashi has her sister. Shellington, a sister of his own, and a nephew. Tweak, her dad, Barnacles, his twin sister, nephew, and niece. Inkling has a nephew as well.

Kwazii, he has his grandad. That he hasn’t seen in years. 

Calico Jack’s quite the character, has been since Kwazii was just a kitten. He’d never go a night without elaborate tales filling the stale air of the ship’s galley. Midnights on a sea of knives.

Adventures, great escapes, and more often than not, monsters. A ship-crushing shallowtooth, a hairy-webbed clockerflock, his daring escapades are what Kwazii sees in his dreams. In his dreams, he’s there with him.

In his dreams, he’s there with him.

Kwazii doesn’t think about where his grandad is. Doesn’t think of what waters he’s in, or… if he’s been swallowed by them. He doesn’t think of his ship, or Pete, or what monster he’s maybe facing now, or of his voice… what Calico Jack, his fearsome, brave, bold pirate grandad, would think of him now. If he was here–if he’s alive–what would he say? What would he not? Hardwood, rope swinging, and fiery gold. Orange sharks, oxygen tanks, and fish biscuits.

When Kwazii woke up that morning, his whiskers pointed him to a map. The pieces clicked. They were in just the right location…

He pounced to open the secret compartment on the top of his coat rack. He yanked the map out, thin and brittle like a roll of cinnamon, one of the last shards of Calico Jack. He’ll find that lost city. Come hell or high water or a colossal yeti-faced terrorknit. No monsters–or memories–would get in the way of this pirate.
