GCD unit 1 project
Wicked problems: Empathy
Empathy is what we have to search for on this 3 week project. On the following weeks I’ll be posting some sketchbook notes + research, discussions or possible ways of expressing what empathy means to me.

It’s been a long time! But I’m quite busy in this “quarantine” (still) here in brazil. I’ve tried to saiy that i was trying to keep me as busy as i could during this difficult times. So... when i have absolutely nothing to do i just draw and experiment new art techniques.
One day i was drawing and then i’ve made a series of 4 different drawings but in the same “style” and then they looked like this :

After, i posted each of these drawings on my stories (on Instagram). Then, after 30 minutes I’ve received a message from a close friend of mine (Luisa) that has a t-shirt brand. On that message she was telling me how adorable my drawings looked like and how she wanted to do a collaboration with me! Yes a collaboration!
Then we simply made 15 limited ecobags that looks like this :

With these two different prints and inside each ecobag we’d give people + two stickers with the two other prints and seeds to plant (food seeds).
Yesterday, i’ve delivered my first three ecobags and today my friend just posted on her stories how nice they look live.
And that’s a little bit of what I’m doing over this quarantine. Hope you enjoy this content ❤️

Part 1 Foundation year (UAL ccw)
I remembered the part one name of the course I was in (Diagnostic!)
So.. to begin, I’ll show what we’ve done on the first 2 weeks.
We had to pair up with a group of max 5 ppl I think, and we had to do an sculpture about something.
We, bucca, izzy, Lydia, me and another girl decided to make a political statement mixing our countries (Italy, Brazil, The UK, China and also our families historical backgrounds and countries where our roots came from).
The idea was very simple but also so strong.
There was three bodies made of cardboard hanging on the roof of our classroom upside down facing the floor and a “shadow”. Those three bodies would be us and our childhood and the shadow, our future. Within the bodies would also be attached balloons with strong frases inside and people could pop them to read these phrases. Finally, we wrote in many different languages phrases of politics, philosophical statements and news.
(Below all the pictures)

Part 1 Foundation year (UAL ccw)
Here in this post, I'll talk about the first part of the foundation year I finished at UAL. In the beginning, the building was divided into “Specialist mode” and “Experimental groups” (I cannot remember the second one’s name). Specialist mode were the ones with people that already subscribed to be in the specific classes of Communication (Graphic Design, Animation and Film Making, Illustration), Art (Painting, Drawing and Conceptual Practice, Sculpture and Photography/ Timed-based Media ) and Design (Design for theatre, Screen and Performance, Textile Craft and 3D, Product Spacial Design).
When I first started, I didn't know that we had to sign up before so I was automatically with the Experimental group. After, I realised that it was so much more fun to be there than in a specialist mode because I could explore so many different paths and at the end of 8 weeks I could decide which pathway I'd pursue.
I decided to go with Graphic Design (That was for sure something that I've always loved at first sight with no doubt).
But before talking about the pathway I choose, I'd like to show here what we’ve done during that 8 weeks.
Every 2 weeks we needed to show a project that was a part of the theme and that was it, we could experiment anything and create everything.

Using Ipad & Procreate
It’s a very nice combination as everyone knows at this point. I really like to use procreate on my Ipad to illustrate pretty much everything, drawings I've done on paper, pictures I took with my camera/ cellphone, etc. Procreate is a nice app for creators and you can do multiple stuff in it. Videos, and gifs are also possible on this platform and I strongly advise it for the ones who like to draw and are curious about.

Hey, today I’ve decided to post more of my illustrations on paper. Since I bought those posca markers i made a lot of them and is so much fun cause we’re at home and I’m experimenting a lot of stuff.
A lot of them are creations from previous drawings I found on pinterest.
And some of them I already have in the digital version (I’ll post it later).

Which one do you like the most?

So... How did I get accepted to UAL ccw foundation?
(Well summarised) - Back in 2018, I’ve decided to discontinue my Graphic Design degree at ESPM that I started back in my country (Brazil), and I found an agency called EF which is a good idea for people that want to study abroad. So I moved to Oxford, and there I started a course called “Foundation” which is nonetheless a prep for BA (bachelorette) degree (University). The course was focused on academic studies + Art and design. In January it was time to apply and the chosen University/ Institution was UAL (University of the Arts London). When I got to the interviews all of them basically rejected me because my work was based fine arts and not graphic design, so they offered me a place on their foundation course and I accepted!
Below, and attached to this text I'll upload some of my previous portfolio work.

So let’s say I decided to turn that mushroom illustration on paper into a digital version. It’d be good as a wallpaper, wouldn’t it?
