Epoxy, acrylic, carbon fiber on polyurethane foam vessels
In this new body, @rob_machado uses carbon fiber wrap technology to embed DiCiurcio’s original image, creating a shadow effect through clear resin across the surface of 5 hand hewn vessels. Their edges smooth but deliberate, the microclimate within runs lateral to the shape of its origin, while two others run in parallel juxtaposed behind, all forged from a single TDC painting. Concurrent to the @solentosurffestival & it’s projection, the duo references the phenomenon of Young’s double-slit experiment, an anomaly in light that gives way to intensely unifying dialogue, yet remains a mystery. Similarly, the surf culture & it's films inspire generations & a unifying language of never-ending individual expression.

REED’S FARM x ONCE & FUTURE WINE DINNER TO BENEFIT A MEANINGFUL PURPOSE -Magical night celebrating my birthday for A Meaningful Purpose at Reed’s Farm hosted by dear friend and farm co-founder Cookie Till and Joel & Mady from Once & Future Wine. What a treat to hear Joel’s storytelling and sip on vintage Ravenswood that brought me back to my art school days. I was honored to donate “Love Wins” my live drawing of Blondie at MSG from June 2015. Grateful Debbie Harry joined me, shining extra light on the incredible farm mission Megs is so passionate about at the heart of our NJ community. Also grateful to Danny & Maria Clinch who joined & also Danny donating a portrait of Blondie from Sea Hear Now and Bruce Springsteen to benefit the non-profit. Reed’s Chef Jonathan Copeland & Steve & Cookies Chef Kevin Kelly & Chef Warner Christie hit it out of the park with a farm grown and thoughtfully sourced menu and Ventnor 7311 for the delicious original cake! My friend musician Paul “Sage” Cannon brought his music and blessings from the Kumeyaay Nation and Michelle created the vibe with beautiful decor. Also grateful to the entire Reed’s & Steve&Cookies team for all their hard work in making it an extra special evening! You know who you are- hugs to follow soon. A positive shift is happening in the world and the work we are all doing collectively is leading that movement….. 💙🌀

Back in the early 90s, I was a student in art school at Kutztown U always looking for a window to go surfing. The scene was set to the underground punk, indie & grunge edge soundtrack with a bass line from the golden age of hip hop, teeming with explorative emotional energy, & no cell phones. Taylor Steele had just released Momentum, & the generation was running & gunning, showing us a glimpse of what would become the new guard in this era’s surfing adventure. Companies were exploding & imploding all at once in the mad rush to get in on what we already knew, that the surf culture was king. & it was a pioneering force in every fashion. Ever inspired by the movement I was immersed in, I created an image for 7th Street Surf Shop a younger local shop (since ‘86) that I believed represented one south facing corner of a tiny island in the northeast where I grew up surfing, in Ocean City NJ. It has been humbling to see all the incredible surfers rise up in the international spotlight who actually placed this image on their boards. It always felt underground & synonymous with progression in surfing of the moment, pedal down into the unknown. I’ve since recreated it many times, (so have the groms) & the core always stays the same. The waves have been good this Summer too….so drop in, tune out & get barreled.

In the spirit of Fluxus, forever embarking without conception of *finished, this process journey is an after-effect, randomly highlighting the observed feverish culture pageant, it’s animated theologies & human nature’s feign swelt act in no particular order as if nature itself gave light to some kind of divine protection while trying to meld polar opposite frequencies to this common coil. Some kind of love that IS, resides. Recording, filtering the cacophony is what keeps this vehicle in motion, or is the pace just the Earth spinning beneath me?
