LPU Paralympian Nishad Kumar honoured with Arjuna Award from President of India
A student at Lovely Professional University and a Paralympian, Nishad Kumar has bagged an opportunity to make the whole nation proud as he has been awarded one of the most prestigious awards which is none other than ARJUNA AWARD. Nishad Kumar, who happens to be an alumnus of Lovely Professional University, has become a successful Indian Paralympian, particularly a remarkable high jumper. Nishad has begun his journey of Para athletics in the year 2009 and entered the track by qualifying to participate in the Paralympic Games in 2020. In the Paralympic games, the virtuoso performed extremely well which made him win the Silver Medal in the sport of men’s high jump under the category T47.
His recent accomplishments are securing a bronze medal, Gold medal and silver medal at the 2019 World Athletics Championship, the Fazza World Para Athletics and Tokyo Paralympics, respectively.

LPU faculty received Award of Academic Excellence by Arab Translators Association
Dr. Ravichandran, Associate Professor in Chemistry from the School of Mechanical Engineering has received the Award of Academic Excellence from the Arab Translators Association in November 2021.
The award was bestowed in recognition of his achievements in the fields of Chemistry, Physics, Synthesis and Structural Characterization, plus his major achievement in publishing ninety-one international scientific research papers, four patents, and five textbooks.
The Arab Translators Association supports, empowers, and inspires future generations of academicians to realize their full potential and help the sustainable scientific progress.
Dr. Ravichandran expressed his sincere gratitude to the Lovely Professional University.

Management Development Program V-LEAD – Learn, Engage, Adapt and Demonstrate
A Management Development Program V-LEAD was organized for employees of Midland Microfin Limited, Jalandhar at LPU campus by Corporate Pathshala and Centre of Professional Development, LPU on 13th and 14th November, 2021. Mr. Narinder Singh Garcha, Associate Dean, Mr. Sarabjit Singh Kwatra, Deputy Dean, Dr.Shrikant Juneja, Assistant Professor, Mr. Sachin Sidhra, Assistant Professor, Ms. Navpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor & Director and Mr. Rishabh Assistant Professor, LPU were invited as coaches for the program.
Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor and Dean, HRDC, LPU welcomed 29 participants of Midland Microfin from all across India and the resource persons. In her address, she motivated the participants to align themselves with the vision and mission of the organization. Mr. Narinder Garcha and Mr. Sarabjit Singh Kwatra did the context setting in which the participants got insights to embrace the change and agenda of the program was exhibited through an activity involving victory squares, victory couch and victory podium.

2 LPU Students Will Represent India in Women Junior Hockey World Cup
Two LPU students, Reet and Priyanka, have been picked to represent India at the 2021 Women’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, which will be held in Potchefstroom, South Africa, from December 5 to 16, 2021.
This will be the ninth edition of the Women’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, which is a biannual women’s under-21 field hockey world championship organized by the International Hockey Federation. It will take place in Potchefstroom, South Africa, from the 5th to the 16th of December 2021. The tournament has been played since 1989 and is organized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The competition, which takes place once every two years, is open to players who are under the age of 21 as of December 31 of the year before the tournament’s date of commencement.

LPU Vertos win international honor at International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition 2021
The most intriguing aspect about Lovely Professional University is the legacy left behind by countless Vertos who were inherent winners in their respective domains, especially Vertos pursuing Lovely Professional University’s flagship B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering. And now that unsurpassed legacy at the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition 2021 (IAAC) has been driven forward by three of Lovely Professional University’s most competent Vertos Gopalchetty Brahma together with Vinay Kumar Reddy Andluri, acing the youth category (above 18 years), and Sathwik Bikumalla one-shotting the gold honor in the junior bracket (under 18 years) competing against 4700+ participants on an international stage.
Over the years, Vertos have made their mark at the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition 2021 (IAAC), starting from Sm Sammam Sakti Ibn Sahadat bronze medalist, Bhanu Kapeendra Majety bronze medalist, MS Ragul silver medalist, and countless others., leading to a never-ending streak of champions belonging to the Lovely Professional University.

LPU Student Anuj Shrivatri received 3rd rank in Asian Youth Online U18 Championship
Anuj Srivatri is a student of Lovely Professional University. He happened to take part in ASIAN YOUTH ONLINE U18 CHAMPIONSHIP and thereby has made us all proud by securing the 3rd position in Asian Youth Online Under 18 Championship which is organised by ACF. He was also labelled as another upcoming Indian talent. He initially started with rank 89 and ended the tournament with rank 3. Along with that, he secured a score of 117 in the tournament which in itself is outstanding. This event was a big opportunity to pit one’s wits and ability against some of the best players in Asia and the world and provided a large exposure to the ones who had just begun the race.

Neeraj Chopra and Manpreet Singh are among the 12 athletes who are receiving the honor of the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award, the ceremony of which will take place in Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on 13th November 2021 at 4:30 PM. It wasn’t the first time for the Gold medalist to be named for the Khel Ratna award. He has been nominated for this award since 2018 where he won the Arjuna award for winning a Gold medal in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. He was again nominated in the subsequent years 2019 and 2020 after winning Gold in Asian Games 2018. Khel Ratna award is provided keeping in mind the performance of the athlete in the past four years on various platforms. This year, after bagging a Gold medal in the Olympics, he is finally receiving the much-awaited honor for raising the stature of the Indian Flag in front of the world!

LPU NCC Cadets Launch Swachhata Abhiyan Celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
Celebrating Govt of India’s “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is undertaking Clean India Program. Taking part in the same, LPU NCC Cadets launched Swachhata Abhiyan, where they cleaned premises of various schools & colleges, parks, roads, etc. It was great to see them acting as ambassadors of cleanliness, and we are sure that this will motivate others to maintain hygiene and cleanliness.
To celebrate the magnificent history of people, culture, and achievements, and also to celebrate 75 years of progressive India, the Government of India launched the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This Mahotsav is also dedicated to those people who have the power and potential to enable the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to activate India 2.0 fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

LPU Student Harmanpreet Singh Wins the Hockey Player of the Year Award
LPU student and India’s star hockey player Harmanpreet Singh won the ‘Player of the Year award in the International Hockey Federation’s Hockey Stars Awards! LPU’s MBA Student Harmanpreet Singh scored six goals in the Olympic Games, the highest among Indian Team members. He also scored in the Bronze Medal match. We are incredibly proud of our student and Olympian, who has claimed the top honor at such a prestigious occasion and proved his mettle boundlessly! We at LPU extend our most heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Harmanpreet Singh on raising the grandeur of our Tricolor in front of the whole world!
Indian Hockey players dominated the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) 2020- 21 awards held on October 6. The sweep in the awards category is a likely outcome of India Men’s first Olympic medal for 41 years and the jaw-dropping performance of the Indian Women’s team in the Tokyo Olympics. The incident is also considered a remarkable feat as this is the first time that India has won all the nominees’ awards in the FIH annual awards.

LPU-NSS organized a Blood Donation Camp on campus
he LPU-NSS organized a blood donation camp on the LPU campus, in which students and faculty members from various states in India participated and donated blood. This drive resulted in the collection of a total of 106 units of blood. LPU-NSS would like to express their gratitude to everyone who took part in the event and helped save a life!
The LPU-NSS organizes blood donation camps once every three to four months, and they have saved more than 500 lives to date as a result of their efforts. The volunteers’ blood is drawn with sterile equipment by medical professionals who have been certified. Individuals who wish to donate blood can connect with those who need blood through blood donation camps. The application’s goal is to ensure that every patient in Punjab who requires blood receives SAFE and FREE blood as soon as possible.

The International Leadership Conclave 2021 organized by AIESEC in Jalandhar, LPU
To entertain this feeling of love, fraternity, and community, AIESEC in Jalandhar, under the aegis of the Division of Student Welfare, LPU organized Unwind: The International Leadership Conclave 2021 on 31st October 2021. The event was a huge international event with people from all ethnicities present on a single platform. This was, by far, the most innovative and exciting event. The event started out with an introduction to AIESEC, where the participants were told about the core values of AIESEC.
The first speaker was Ms. Radha Kalaria, ICF Certified Executive Coach & Consultant and Keynote Speaker. She talked about the ways to transform oneself into a leader. She said that the steps of transformation start with clarification, simplification, and amplification. These three simple steps would lead you to success eventually. It is always with you, what you want and how you want to do it. Then, a great space called World Café took place. People from 120+ countries shared their views and introspected together despite the enormous cultural diversity. There were small virtual tables organized for 5-10 members who shared each other’s stories. The whole ambiance was of world fraternity, and each one present there was leading the first step towards the change.

11 LPU students participated in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and bagged Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in their respective fields creating history. We are very familiar with the names of Neeraj Chopra, Gold medalist, and Manpreet Singh, the captain of the men’s hockey team that won the Bronze medal. Now, if I tell you these names along with many others are being awarded the highest sporting honor, how would you feel? Ecstatic, right? That’s how our entire nation is feeling right now!

LPU Verto shared the BIG SCREEN with RANVEER SINGH at Colors-TV
Saahas Ramaul, a student of Lovely Professional University, shared the big screen with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh at Colors TV show The Big Picture. Saahas was the only student selected from all universities nationally. The show was aired on ColoursTV and Voot OTT platform. Ranveer was wonderstruck about the LPU student especially because of his immeasurable dexterity. He indeed accepted a book penned by Saahas as a kind gesture and said that Saahas is an all-rounder and young India’s shining star.
Saahas Subodh Ramaul, is an alumnus of Lovely Professional University who has formerly pursued MBA from Lovely Professional University and right now is up with his PHD. He was a member of the LPU’s Literary Society and has made us all proud by winning the first prize at the educationally engaging simulation, Model United Nations 2019 held at Chandigarh. He has also hosted the 106th Indian Science Congress of India, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi.
