the more metaphor playthroughs I watch, the stronger the urge to write a mage academy fic grows....

like I KNOW there was no mage academy in the cut files that doesn't mean it wasn't cut early on but like I also know in my heart of hearts that a mage academy dungeon and lore would have ABSOLUTELY expanded on Rella's and Forden's characters as well as the history of the Sanctist church and I want it SO BAD.

hi friends~ here's an update:

I originally set out to make this A Cool And Lowkey Professional Account featuring metaphor stuff and news but frankly my work, life, and the general state of the world is kicking my ass and I do not have the time to make this as nice as I originally thought :/ I have a spreadsheet of things that I wanted to queue up and post, but l've wanted to be Organized about it, which requires time to prepare, which is time I don't have, so you can see where the issues began orz

so we're going to make this a little more casual and just reblog the things and share the thoughts, with the more organized, analytical things being the exception, not the norm, because I have had Many Thoughts (especially about the manga) in the last few weeks since l've been here and not enough time to properly write them out (yet)

anyway, that's the current update on things. I hope 2025 has been kind to you all so far! here's to more metaphor rambling soon~

notes: spoilers up to September (if you have not gotten to the island yet, do not read this!) here's one that's not ship-related: as someone who loves to Analyze this game and its characters, it's a fun read! you've got will reflection, will and louis foil discussion, and fidelio being the smart ass we all love! 10/10 no notes

notes: spoilers for the entire game (seriously, do not read this if you have not finished the game) so much of the metaphor tag is ship-based (which is valid! there are a lot of good ships!), but I just love seeing a fic that also focuses on the entire group and how much they mean to each other. plus i'm a sucker for slice of life moments with all of my favorite guys!

Strohl and Hulkenberg are so funny to me as a duo. They're the exact same type of people - they NEED to pledge their life to a liege or they'll start ripping up your couch like an understimulated shepherd dog. However they go about it in polar opposite directions. (Early-game story spoilers ahead, mid-game gameplay spoilers) Hulkenberg had her life purpose taken away years back and comes to realize hyperfocusing probably isn't the optimal way to go about it, so she expands her horizons to do her duty better. Strohl had no will to live until joining the assassination plot, and then it fails so bad he resolves to hyperfocus so hard the classes he unlocks can only do one thing, critical slash damage really really well

Hulkenberg is the formal knightly one but she delights in mucking around and would rather fist fight people than think. But then she demolishes you in chess and teaches you tactics while Strohl, the familiar casual guy who's a lot more stategically minded is the one always sharpening a sword and implying if anything happened to you, seppuku may be on the table - Gallica this is so scary play encounter music - my courage has increased

It all clicked when I saw their third tier classes are paladin/dark knight and samurai. Ohhhh you guys are henchmen. You wanna be henchmen so bad. They're the exact same kinda guy but are completely baffled by everything the other guy does. They have everything in common and nothing in common. They both think they're the normal one of the group. They have completely different ideas about how to best do their jobs but they simply must beat the shit out of each other on the deck daily or else they might have to actually go to therapy. I need an early 2000s team up/roadtrip action movie with these two where Will is faking being kidnapped to draw out the bad guys but Gallica didn't tell Strohl and Hulkenberg because their bad acting would immediately give it away and they proceed to absolutely demolish the metaphorical furniture of the house of Euchronia looking for the world's most specialest lil' captain. Do you see my vision 🤌

this is a blog dedicated to metaphor refantazio - a game I’ve loved since it was first announced and, after playing it, has lived in my head rent-free. I figured it was finally time to give those thoughts a home instead of have them rattle around in my brain.

I will be sharing things I find from tumblr, twitter, bluesky, youtube, and instagram - just about anything metaphor has a home here.

disclaimer: there might be certain things I won't share because they personally makes me uncomfortable. no hard feelings if that is the case, but this is a blog I've made for my own enjoyment and I'm not going to compromise that for the sake of sharing absolutely everything, especially since I don't intend for this to be anything official.

this isn't a news hub (because frankly I do not have the time and energy for that), but I very much wanted a place to put all of the things I find into one place - and if that helps someone find cool art, cosplay, or fic? even better!

as someone who has finished the game, I WILL be reblogging spoiler content and I implore you to block/mute the metaphor refantazio tag until you finish the game bc this game is so worth experiencing blind.

while I would love for everyone to go into this completely blind like I did, I also know the internet is the internet, so I will do my best to tag all art/fic/discussion about events/characters after August (aka after you get your second to last party member) as #metaphor refantazio spoiler. atlus themselves have featured/reposted almost every party member you receive on social, so I feel that those characters are fair game for posting as well, even if it does ruin the surprise a bit imo.

HOWEVER! once again, please finish the game or be at least past september before you explore this blog. this game and its twists are so worth experiencing blind and, while I will do my best to tag everything, I am one human who will make mistakes, so you still might see things you aren't supposed to! I would hate to be the one spoiling you and your experience, so be careful as you scroll!
