Also, I do have a proper promo post, but sometimes these go around easier and also this was funnier in my head.}

Oh, my Chizuru post is going around again. Which is funny, because I was thinking about highlighting some of the specific moments in which she is not useless and actually a total badass. Like:

Taking a bullet for Sano

Being willing to leave him to face her father on her own

Fighting alongside Okita in the daylight as a rasetsu and totally ready to cut dudes down

Raising her sword to Kazama (even if he overpowered her, she knew she was outmatched and did it anyway to stand her ground)

Not backing down to Hijikata ever

Noping the hell out of ALL the guys when they try to decide what’s best for her (telling her to stay behind when Hijikata goes to Ezo, Okita saying that he’s no good for her, etc)

No, really. Every time someone says she’s useless, just remember that THE GUYS WOULD NOT DEVELOP AS CHARACTERS IN THE WAY THEY DID WITHOUT HER. She is the fucking catalyst.

She doesn’t “need” to use her demon blood. She doesn’t “need” to be able to fight. She doesn’t “need” to be as physically strong as the male demons are shown. She is their emotional strength.

She is their rock, and the reason that Saitou can see himself as something more than a weapon. She’s the reason Heisuke can find his place in life and not worry about all his decisions being mistakes. She’s the reason that Hijikata can let go of how things went with the Shinsengumi. She’s the reason Okita can see he’s more than just a sword, that there’s more to life than Kondou’s sake, and that he’s not just some kind of monster.

Chizuru does a hell of a lot more than she gets credit for. Just because she’s not fighting on the front lines doesn’t mean she’s useless or weak and NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES SOMEONE SAYS SHE IS, IT’S STILL WRONG. Sorry, it’s wrong. It’s not an “opinion” that she’s useless, it’s just a blatant disregard of facts. Usefulness comes in many colors, shapes and sizes, and it doesn’t necessarily mean doing what everyone else considers “useful” within the context of a wartime story.

Old post but reblogging this because once again I saw someone calling Chizuru “weak and ineffectual” in the tags. And I just don’t know why we keep having to make reminder posts like this.

Life’s been suuuuper stressful for me lately, and I’m going to be out of town again soon for my friend’s Bridal Shower, and then like three weeks after that, I go back out again for her wedding, and then IMMEDIATELY go to Iowa to move in to my apartment for school! ;v;

//Oh yeah!!! I have some good news for you guys! I got accepted into a community college in Iowa, and I’ll be starting my semester in the fall! I’ll be studying fashion and design. <3 

I’ll finally be getting away from my parents, away from my crap job, and out of North Carolina. I’m really excited!

Also also, I know some of you guys know me by my birth name, but lately it’s been making kinda uncomfortable to be called that, so if you guys can call me Mana ooc, I’d really appreciate it. <3 Chizu-mun works just as fine, too.

Anyways! I got the new Hakuouki game, and I’m really excited to play it. I’ve been slowly feeling my muse here again, and I’m going to try to get some things done (if anyone’s still here and willing to interact with my dumb butt anymore ;v; ), but please do forgive me if I’m slow. I have to go to orientation in June, and then I’ll be moving probably in July? I have a friend’s wedding at the beginning of August, and then my semester starts late August.

“Mmm…no. I don’t think I will; even if it looks like the world hasn’t given you much of a break.” He continued to jest, not letting her live down her poor choice of words. She wouldn’t have said it to Heisuke or anyone else in that manner after all, right? Being on the brink of death gave you these “perks” that you really didn’t want. 

He wasn’t really off put by her look either. He had seen that form for a demon plenty of times before…though, why it was currently a look for her was a little strange. Further more, why were they letting her wander around looking like that? Sounds like more trouble than it is worth if you ask them. They probably got more soft on the girl since he left. They were having a hard enough time hiding the obvious fact that she was a girl, they didn’t need this whole situation started too. Flicking the hat, he was walking around her to head to the compound. 

“How about instead of being a problem, you go inside. Can’t imagine you are making anyone’s life easier by wandering around like that.” 

   Her pout only grew more childish as the captain scolded her. It was nice to see that nothing much had changed in the time he’d been gone -- or at least, nothing much had changed with him. The rest of the Shinsengumi was a different story.

   “I have chores to do, so I’m trying to get them done,” she retorted, turning to follow Souji further into the compound. “Kondou-san let me borrow the hat and told me that so long as I keep it on while I’m stuck like this, I can be outside and do my chores. It’d be more problematic if I stayed in my room like this and someone caught me in there instead; at least I have plenty of space out here to hide.”

“Still not that charming with your word, huh? You’ll get it eventually.” While he didn’t really appreciate hearing another person saying they thought that he had kicked the bucket, his excitement of finally being back at base was enough for him to leave it at a simple and snide remark. He’d come close, but it would have been quite pitiful for him to die there at the clinic. It definitely wasn’t his style…however, death didn’t really care about such a thing, did it? Derailing, a hand was falling onto his hip, the other hand’s wrist resting upon his hilt. Seeing a few soldiers surprised, he was waving to them neatly, pleased to know that he was still looking familiar. He hadn’t wasted away to nothing at the very least, that was enough to make him smile. 

“So, past your terrible start, how is everything going?” 

   Giving a childish pout, Chizuru cast her gaze away from the captain, locks of her ivory hair doing little to hide the blush that began to color the demoness’ cheeks.

   “Th-that wasn’t what I meant to say at all, Okita-san...” Readjusting the straw hat that she used to hide her horns when she found herself stuck in her true form, all she could do was meekly attempt to explain herself.

   “I-I was trying to say that I thought you were in another city, but then I also was trying to say that i was glad you aren’t dead... G-Give me a break...”

///I know! It’s so weird! This is the first time I’ve been on in a while, too haha! I just got back from visiting some friends back home the other day, so I’m a big depressed ball of sadness now that I’m back the middle of bumfuck nowhere where I have zero friends or anything I enjoy ;v; I just thought I’d pop on here and see if my muse wants to play.

   “Okita-san!” The small outburst rang out as a delighted oni trotted towards the first division captain. How long had it been since last she saw the ornery manchild? It felt like it had been eons. 

   Lips moving faster than her mind, Chizuru cheerily blurted out,

   “I thought you were long dead!”

   “Th-that’s not...! I-I mean--! I-i-it’s good to see you again, O-Okita-san!”
