"I suppose I would /explain/ to him that you made the mistake of not /announcing/ your fucking presence before approaching while I had a /knife/ in my hand," he answers stiffly. He absolutely will not apologise. Not to this fucking man. He refuses.

He doesn’t expect an apology of course, people like Captain Flint don’t apologise. They feel like the world owes them an apology so every little mistake they make is on the world, not them. ❝See it’s when you say shit like that that makes me really distrust you. What will happen if Tom ‘makes the mistake of not announcing his fucking presence before approaching’, hm? Or even if he saw you reacting like that with me.❞ Now he is the one to take a step towards the infamous Captain. How many people had actually survived the experience of being threatened by him?  ❝Here is something else you don’t seem to get. That kind of aggression...we only experienced from the guards. There is a moment, just a moment, that Mateo is actually scared. Not of Flint, fuck this payaso, but of what this abrupt violent reaction reminded him of. Only all these previous times something like this had happened, it didn’t end in the threat of harm. Quickly he recomposed himself ❝Am I supposed to be scared?
