✮- And a name to hear their real feelings for them. bruce
Bruce and I? Well, we didn’t start off too well. That’s for sure. Teaming up with my dad’s mortal enemy wasn’t exactly the smartest thing but sometimes I just love to grind Slade’s gears. In all honesty, Bruce gave me a family when I had none. I don’t know why he did it but I’m not about to leave that behind. I care about the old man and he’s not as bad as Slade likes to paint him out to be. But don’t tell him I’m soft for him because I’ll never hear the end of it.

回 - For a fear they have.
She stares at the photo in her hand. It’s an oldie but a goodie. “He looks so good here.” And he does. She can’t remember the last time she saw Grant so...content. Not his happiest. Not his worst. Somewhere in between. His hand sits on her shoulder and in a far distance, if you look close enough, you see Joey too. It’s the closest thing she has to a family portrait. They’re not the kind to take those after all. Rose places the photograph back on her dresser and shrugs with a bit of a smirk. “I have no fears. Is that what you want to hear?” And she knows that it’s her MO. People don’t expect her to falter but when her companion for the night isn’t looking, she takes the photo back and slides it into her back pocket. She’s lost them before. She doesn’t want to ever lose them again.

At least someone got the alias right. Even with the slight backlash at his anti-sword-maiming policy, it was nice to see another familiar face at least attempting in her own way to help clean up the newly and ridiculously littered streets. “You’re right, you don’t,” He sighed, crossing his arms tight to his belted chest. “We’re all adults here, strange to say.” Another pause, contemplating his words. “Cass… she’s good. The whole ‘family’ is.” Skirting around details is fine enough, they didn’t need to go into his whole… whatever he was going through. He sent a white eyed sneer down at the captured criminals, asking with a slightly more serious tone, “What’re they paying for these creeps?”

Rose won’t lie and say it isn’t nice to see Tim again after so long. Rose had always found him to be someone that just “Got it” even when it seemed like he didn’t. “Huh.” She grinned and placed the katana back into its sheath as she looked over to him. It was a pleasant surprise to have him agreeing with her. “It’s a bit strange, yeah but…nice.” Hearing the news about Cass brought another twitch to her lips though it was only meant to keep the conversation going. “That’s good to hear, Red Robin.” She took a few steps back so they were no longer in earshot of the detained men. “A grand a pop. Not much but they’ve got some serious allegations on their heads. It’ll be great when the police finally arrive and I can get into something more comfortable. Still knocking back espressos like it’s no one’s business?”

“Maybe I’m, is a big back with only two people living in it.” He asnwered. “Good.” Bruce sais glad with the news that he was going to see her more often. “At least the chaos brought something good with it, however it would be nice if you dropped by just because you wanted to see me.” he teased her. “This city will be lucky to have you.”
“It does make it feel bigger.” She smirked at the slight echo. Whatever the case, the mansion always felt too big to her but having everyone around made it feel like a home of sorts. “Well, you know me, Bruce. Can’t be too far away from chaos. I’ll feel like I’m missing something.” She bowed her head with a smile. “Okay, well, I’m also here to see you, of course. Thanks, Bruce.” She wrapped an arm around his waist. “Have you seen any of the boys?”

“Yeah, all of us need one from time to time,” people thought that they could just keep going without having any breaks, but it wasn’t like that, they needed breaks as much as any other mundane person that worked in a normal job. “Thanks, I sure try my best to be.” it was good to hear from other people that he was not a bad person, as much as he was confident, he needed a reassurance sometimes. “Seems good, I could use a few drinks,” he smiled at her. “Well, the town is like this, because of a prison breakdown, now all the prisoners are out, and we’re having to kick their asses.”
“Hah! No rest for the wicked, Kon.” She nudged him playfully and continued leading the way. The bar wasn’t as packed as usual which was a bit of a Godsend. It was probably because the city was in the middle of a crisis. Blessings in disguise? For sure. “So what’s your poison?” Rose sat at the bar and patted the seat beside her. “Prison breakdown? That’s a Netflix docuseries just waiting to happen. Maybe I should write it.” She ordered a coke and looked over to Conner. “Maybe it’ll get better soon and we can go about a regular day…whatever that means.”

{ @ofravagers sent me arrest }
One side effect of being a former criminal was that Scott never really gained his trust for cops back, if he’d ever really had it. Not all police officers were bad - He’d warmed up to Paxton, even if the man had taken comforting the wife of a convict a little too far. Paxton’s partner was okay, if a bit on the uptight side. But New York cops were different than San Francisco cops, and were a lot less easy to deal with.
That was why, when Scott saw a woman getting arrested, he kept his distance but watched. The officer was clearly hurting her, and it didn’t seem like he was treating her fairly. Hands way too familiar, not correctly reading her her rights, things that he knew weren’t okay. Sighing, he suited up and quickly took out the out of shape officer. “God I hate cops.” Scott said, shaking out his now sore fist. “Hi.”
“I have my rights! I know that what that guy di---HEY! Get your hands off me! Are you recording this?” Rose pretended to address a passerby but the cop didn’t seem to care and as soon as her hands were free, she was going to make him care. But before she could even manage, there was someone coming to her rescue. A costumed someone. One that she wasn’t familiar with from back home.
“Hi.” She bent down to reach for the handcuff keys and opened the lock. “Yeah, me too.” A sigh of relief slipped from her lips and Rose opened the squad car to retriever her Katana. “A little handsy for my liking. I appreciate it, man. Nice digs. You look familiar. You one of those Avengers?”

@ofravagers continued from here
A grunt sounded as she backed into him, stopping the plan to take off running after their intended target. Oliver was frustrated as well, but not about the exact same issue. “We aren’t here to act as judge, jury, and executioner!” he bit out after she’d turned to face him. This was not the first time he’d had this argument, though it was the first time he’d had it with her. There were numerous times at the onset of his becoming the Green Arrow that he had to remind himself that people were redeemable - that shooting at a non-lethal spot was better.
“And then what does that make you?” he asked, not at all holding back the contempt he felt at her attitude. “You think they’re killers? You want them to suffer because of it? If you go around doing the same thing to them, how are you any better?” It would be so easy to write Rose off based on her family history, and if he were anyone else, that might be the course of action to take. But Oliver couldn’t. Even after all these years, he believed that circumstances made people who they were - that the hand they’re dealt affects the way they react in a given situation. Rose had been shown one way of life by Slade, she just had to know there were other ways to go about things.
“Don’t I get a say in that?” he had picked up the sword, thumb and forefinger on either side of the blade as he held the handle out toward her. “You want to make a difference? Show people that violence isn’t the only way. It’s one thing to defend yourself, to subdue a criminal, it’s another to stop and make them live with their choices.”
How strange. Rose remembers her father telling her the exact opposite of what Oliver was trying to convey. For the longest time as Ravager, she was told only she can be judge, jury, and executioner. This was…for a lack of better words, odd. Rose cursed himself as the perp ran off and shook her head. She’d find him later. She owed Oliver that much. “I don’t mean to be difficult.” And truly she didn’t. Rose just wanted to understand. What was her purpose here? Did she really come to help and fight the good fight or was she here with ulterior motives? On some days she isn’t sure who she is. The “why” is especially daunting.
“Those same guys didn’t care about her!” And she knew she was projecting. She knew this. Oliver and all these “good guys” were there for the honest people of New York City but when it came down to it when she was fighting herself, who would fight for her this way? It’s admirable. In a way that twists her stomach and Rose chews the inside of her cheek as she bites back all the things, she’s held inside with contempt. “I never said I was better than those guys. I’m not better than most people, Oliver. Remember?”
When he held out her Katana, Rose’s gaze fell on the blade before it flickered up to meet his eyes. Why was he still there? “Slade would have disowned me a million times over for fucking up…why don’t you do the same?”
