Lynphea

Alright the post is going to be divided into:

General facts

Lynphea is the second largest planet in the whole magical dimension. Second only to Omega.

Outsiders aka the whole magical dimension see Lynpheas as a whole as a group of pacifistic hippy farmers who don't to much aside from hugging trees.

Needless to say they are wrong. Like sure the tourist parts of the planet are sanitized and really pretty, everything else? DANGEROUS!

Every single plant is alive and conscious. To different degrees but the wall here have quite literally ears and eyes. Never piss of a tree or you have a big ass problem. On top of that everything is on some way toxic. Either poisonous or venomous or in some cases both. So really do not, DO NOT piss them off!

A lot of the planet is unexplored. This is partly, because most people life in the treetops, since it's less dangerous there, but also because people just kinds of build from treetop to treetop without going down. So they kind of know nothing about what they live above.

Everyone who does live on the ground does so in places that are not that closely grown and where the trees are…well ...pacifists.

The exception to that are the Old Growth people and those of the Wild Lands. They both live on the ground in areas that are known to be dangerous or are only half discovered.

Fun fact here…Flora is from the Wild Lands.

The reason why most people life on the top is because of Wild Magic its bound to the ground unless there happens to be a really old tree then it creeps up that stem and is in the crown too. But yeah mostly people just avoid the Wild magic.

The Government.

Lynphea is ruled by the Council of Elders.

Most of those are quite literally Elders. Old people who have been in the community for a long time and have been connected to the nature for even longer.

Now there are exceptions. Almost a quarter of the Council is under 25 and still elders. Those are the Earthborn Elders.

Now almost 80% of the council is Earthborn, but a lot of people are also voted in.

The Earthborn are quite literally born from the Earth. They do not have to parents, they are children of the most powerful and oldest plants. Most of them just grow from the earth between the roots and are found by the people their biological parent wants them to raise.

These Earthborn have a much much deeper connection to the earth and nature than anyone else. Not even guardian fairies can talk that easily with their planet.

Chrystal or Chrysalis of the Magnolia Valley is one of them. She's fifteen absolutely in love with her girl friends a one of Floras biggest fan. She also grew up around Helia since their parents are basically cousins.

There are hundreds of Elders and the full Council only ever meets every decade, but in smaller communities they are in constant contact.

Wild Magic

Like I said before Wild Magic is mostly ground bound. Nobody really knows why or how it exists, just that is everywhere. More or less concentrated. The Wild Magic itself is not harmful, but the things it can create certainly are.

Seemingly harmless animals and plants if in contact with Wild Magic can turn into REALLY strange things or mutate into something different.

It's not always bad and some species have developed over a long time so Wild Magic doesn't really bother them anymore.

Most researchers (from the outside) are of the opinion that it's really dangerous to be to close to Wild Magic, since nobody knows what happens if you get in contact with it for too long.

Lynpheans, of course know better.

For the most part nothing happens aside from the fact that the magic of children born on Wild Magic land are both stronger and need more training to control their powers. That or their magic s a bit weird. (In Dimensional standards.)

But then most Lynpheans thing that the rest of the Magical Dimension are babies. To be fair since Lynpheans are born to a naturally higher Wild Magic environment they are all a bit desensitized. Most people especially those who are from the 3-1st ring do have a harder time with it.

Most people think the reason for that is that the fourth Ring is a middle child. Not really away from the Golden Kingdom, but also not really on its own. So the whole Ring has a "Wild Magic problem" so to say.

Wild Lands

The Wild Lands are the name of the unexplored parts of Lynphea. Or those that are so heavily saturated with Wild Magic that most people to not want to go there.

Part of those is The Old Growth Forest, where the Dragonborn live and the Willows Grave.

Willows Grave is a gigantic Wild Magic reservoir and National part. Even Lynpheans do not like it here - unless they are a bit crazy- because it is much MUCH more sentient.

It is said to be the original birth place of the Black Willow and its sister. It's also the place where the sister burned. Which is why it's called the Willows Grave.

It actually didn't start out all that bad. After the fire a lot of people worked to replant and regrow everything and to honour the fallen Willow they used what little wood was left of her and a small seed that survived through magic and created a small shrine. Over time They build a house and then a manor out of the shared and dead wood hoping to use it as a base for Moses and vines and regrow it. Well it turns out something went wrong. Or the mix of grief and pain and hope sparked something, because the whole area developed extreme Wild Magic basically over night. And then it gained sentience and nobody wanted to deal with it after the x attempt in reinhabiting it.

Because of its cultural and magical value some people still try to get in, but the Council of Elder basically gave up hope.

And then Flora showed up…but that is for later.

Willow Will

The Magical Dimensions knows it as Butterflix. The reason for that is because the first fairy to ever gain it looked like a butterfly and in her own words: "Had to fight the beasts."

Yeah…remember when I said Lynphea is seen a pacifistic hippies? Most people assumed that includes the animals and well…the jokes wrote themselves.

The real story is a bit more …gory.

Willows Will can only be gained when someone who has faced the wildest part of nature and stood their ground.

For the first fairy that happen to be a highly dangerous species of carnivorous butterfly that happened to work as a hive mind. They were trying to take over the shrine to nest there, which would have destroyed the baby plants. She tried to kick them ou, got attacked, refused to run, fought the buggers and survived, because …well…magic. (And honestly I have heard enough stories about garners fighting nature out of pure spite)

Since it happened on the Willows Grave land, which is why it's given the name Willows Will. The Lynpheans thought it was the spirit of the lost Willow rewarding the fairy and trying too heal her. So it got it's proper name.

Laster on fairies in other parts of Lynphea earned the transformation, but the name stuck. Mostly because every fairies wings always look like whipping willow leaves and twigs.

Here is a thing: only nature fairies can gain this transformation. Others have tried it and either died or survived without ever earning the transformation. You HAVE to have magic that is nature based. Plant, rock, animal, water under certain circumstances.

Also the transformation will always look like whatever you faced.

Ok lastly. I drew the first Willows Will fairy. It's a bit …cryptic. So maybe be careful.

Ok So here it is. Just a short note: the pink lines on her body? Yeah…they are scars. Carnivorous butterflies and all that.

Bloom Fire Hair (Mood Ring)

Yes I called it that, because it's true and It's funny!

Ok jokes aside. I mentioned several times in the store already that Blooms hair tends to show her emotions.

I finished the art with the different emotions a few days ago. So here you go!

First few emotions:

anger, rage and furry. I chose orange for anger, since it's canonically what we have seen Bloom do in the show. Rage turns into a darker red, which I know the hotter the flame the lighter the fire…but you know seeing red an all that. Now furry is where we have the hotter and lighter thing. Bright blue hair means shit is about to hit the fan.

The other emotions for this part: healing, joy/exitement and panic/flashback. Yes, healing isn't an emotion, but it's part of the fire hair, so it's in here. I describes it just a few chapters ago, but when Bloom truly heals Dragon Flame style, her hair turns the same green Aisha's fairy transformation has. IDK, I really like the green and healing is green for me. Joy and excitement are a bight pink. I just think it's a fun color and it makes me smile. Panic and flashbacks are a sickly yellow. It's pale and makes her look sick. It seemed the most fitting color for Bloom since yellows are really common where I a from so you never really notice it and then there it is!

The other five emotions: happiness, contentment, true power/protection/creation, fear and merciless wrath.

Happiness and contentment are closely related s they are similar colours. Since they are the more calmer siblings of joy/excitement they are darker and less vibrant violet pinks. Contentment is also more vibrant and darker than happiness, since for me contentment is a much deeper version of happiness.

Now true power/protection/creation. I don't think we have seen this yet, but it will play a roll in later chapters. Let's just say if Bloom is really dipping into her role as the Guardian of the Dragon Flame and the kids gloves come off…this is what you will see. And just pray that you are standing behind her if it comes out.

Fear bright yellow. Idk. It just…fear is yellow. A bright eye-catching yellow.

Merciless Wrath is back with hints of violet and dark blue. Its true power mixed with every other emotion and if this happens…True power is bad, this? Someone start praying. Bloom is no longer holding back or caring. And yes this will come up in the story.

There are two more colours, but I will not reveal them until much later, because they are either spoilers or would cause questions I am not willing to answer. If you have questions to the current emotions ask them. I am always willing to answer them.

Melody

I finally found time to sit down and draw everything I needed for the information on Melody! Since I have much less lore flashed out than I have for Zenith. I decided to add some drawings. Ok so disclaimer before I actually start my explanation on Melody.

We all know that Melody is Asian inspired. Musa being either Japanese or Chinese. I also know that a lot of people who’s roots are in Asian countries do not appreciate it if they were just being grouped up as “Asians”. Let alone if their cultures are mixed. So I have made Melody a representation of different Asian cultures. 

I will admit that the major inspirations for the two continents are China and Japan. For one because I know them the most but also for me Musa is Japanese. I read it once when I was younger and it stuck. That being said there will not be a lot of hints towards either cultures. I know a bit about them, but I am no expert and I will/can not spend enough time to properly research and represent them. I am in the middle of preparing for finaly, my degree is close to being in its final stage. I have two jobs. I literally CAN NOT do any more research. So be lenient with me. 

Melody

Melody is the planet of Music in the third Ring of the Magical Dimension. It’s the planet that produces the most magic so it’s part of the Seven.

Its magical focus is Sound. Not music. Sound. It’s also not restricted to producing or hearing sounds, but the theory behind it. Music writing and the way instruments work or are made/ repaired are also magical disciplines. (I have several years of music lessons…let me tell you sheet music has so much math and half of the shit is a different language altogether!

The planet is made of 70% water and approximately 30% are Land so it is roughly the same as Earth. The difference is that Melody has only two major continents, the rest is a lot of islands:

Melody Aria 

Melody Harmony

Quick fun fact here: Melody is actually the smallest of the Seven major planets. 

Melody Aria specializes more on sound that is produced by the body or by someone themselves. While Melody Harmony is specializing in sound that is made through something else. 

And yes the terms hold meaning. 

Aria in Music is a voice solo (Yes instruments are involved, but the main focus is on the singer.) Harmony on the other hand is mostly my personal association. As the term itself only means two or more notes together.

Melody Aria is the darker red part on the left. I modeled the continent after a microphone to make the singing part a bit more prevalent. The surrounding islands are supposed to be sound waves. 

Melody Harmony is on the right and it is shaped like a quaver. 

I didn’t mark it on the drawing but Musa comes from Melody Harmony. More specifically from the green and pink island towards the top right. It’s technically supposed to belong to Melody Harmony but it's pretty much on the line between the continents. So it’s a bit of a joke that the people who grow up there are part of both. Which explained Musas talent. 

I also made the planet a bit less earth-like. I based it on the early season images we got in the first season I think. Where Melody is shown as mostly red, yellow and orange floating islands and mixed with the pink we get from later seasons. I added it in green because it looks pretty!

The High Note Realm.

It is inspired by the Heavenly Kingdoms that both China and Japan have (which is why I put a disclaimer in). 

It’s floating Island. The bubble is protection from the winds, since the island is always moving and really fast.

It hosts the greatest of Melodies musicians, it’s literally the best music conservatory. All of which are immortals. Most of them have different reasons for their immortality, but there are a few people who have lines. Like Toriyama. 

These immortals are teachers. Every teacher on the High Note Realm is an immortal that’s the one thing they all have in common and literally a must if you want to stay there forever. 

If you want to be a student well…

You can only get in if you are invited by an Immortal and then you can only study under the person that is sponsoring you unless you get another invitation, which is RARE! There are approximately two hundred teachers and since the system is 1o1 there are also only about 200 students. 

This also means that the time each student spends on the High Note Realm is different.Most stay for approximately four years. some longer, some spend less time.

 There are different ways to get an invitation. If a group of teachers no longer have a student because they graduated, there will be a big announcement and a concert. Everyone who wants to try shows up and plays. If a teacher likes you or sees potential in you? You get picked. If not. Try again next time. 

There are of course exceptions. Sometimes Guardian Fairies are invited by the whole faculty to be trained in all kinds of disciplines to make them stronger. Sometimes the Realm itself chooses someone and one of the teachers is poked and prodded until they start searching. 

Nobody knows everything and the teachers are not talking. 

On the Island itself. The main building is inspired by the “Lyre of Ur” Which is said to be the oldest string instrument in the world. Every other building is some kind of instrument. There are more buildings you can’t see.

The island itself is pretty much hollow. The lowest part is dormitories (students HAVE to know how to fly, it’s a requirement, be it on their own or through a device.) and right above that is a giant concert hall. It is literally the biggest and best. 

And even right beneath the surface are the archives. Every song ever written. Every new instrument, everything is there. Most of them are paper of some kind. Music that has been written down, but there are also rooms completely made from crystals and inside of those crystals are songs that haven’t ever been recorded and would have been lost otherwise. (I was inspired by S6 and the caves on Melody.)

The flags are fabric pieces that students left behind whenever one of the returns as to teach on the island they bind it to the string of the main building where it will hang forever (or as long as they are there.

The Melody

I explained it in the story already, but the reason who the planet being names Melody is that each person who was born there has a magical bubble around them. It's music given form and can bee seen or heard only by people from Melody.

There are exceptions to that rule. If a Melodian is feeling something extremely strong the Melody can be seen as a cloud in that persons magic color. Sometimes is can be heard by people who have really sensitive ears.

It's based on the way Galatea send a message to Musa asking for help. It's pretty much un tradable by anyone else.

The Melody is the reason why the Planet was names Melody.

Also the aura of magic that the planet Melody, is in fact a Melody, like that of the people. So many Melodians think of it as a part of their planet that is always with them.

So yeah that is everything I have on Melody. I might add things. I might not. I will make a post about the phoenixes later.

Updates for the end of the year

Ok, so I realized a few weeks back that Oh Dragon Fly will turn a year old in two days. As in I started posting it a year ago. While doing so I realized I have been writing on this story for two years… which wow…

So I decided for 2024 you will get two updates. One will be as usual on the 24th, while the other will come on the 31st of December.

I have enough of a puffer to be easily able to do this, while also dealing with all the stress of the next few months.

I am so sorry I didn't answer this earlier. I am in a lot of stress right now.

Thank you! I am alway unsure if my world build makes sense or if it's understandable, but this makes me so happy, because apparently it is!

To be fair on the slow burn thing…Oh…fuck…I did not tag it as Enemies to friends to lovers…my mistake…

Na for real though. I am a SLOOOOW burn person. As in it takes at least three life threatening situations before they start realizing that that they like each other. (No that is not a spoiler!)

It's also a story much more focused on the politics and intrigue and the friendships between the girls that the romance. Like don't get me wrong Bloom and Valtor are the focus points of the story, but their story walks along a lot of other stuff. So yeah…It's gonna take a bit😅
