Tbh, I hate the insinuation of a romantic relationship between co stars as promo for a show or movie because maybe it worked ok at one point, but now we know fans absolutely can’t be normal about it. I saw that some Nic/Luke shippers horrifically harassed Luke’s last gf to the point that she posted about it and shut down her social media for a while. So to now encourage those kinds of people by pretending they’re correct is unwise to put it mildly. Real people are being hurt by this nonsense.
I was in a different fandom and one of the fans who was convinced the co stars were in a romantic relationship irl became a stalker and showed up outside the lead’s house. It’s just not safe to feed people this bs anymore, too many wackos.
Yeah I agree with everything you’ve said.
Obviously Luke and Nicola are playing the game, and playing it right. Yeah I am concerned that there will be people who take it too far. It happened with India and Corey during Queen Charlotte promotion, and I remember seeing Corey’s Instagram comments full of disappointment when he came with his girlfriend to Brazil for Tudum. Both Nicola and Luke seem to keep their private life exactly that, and I hope they look after themselves throughout the madness of the next few months. Just because they are open to playing the game during promo, doesn’t entitle, or invite people to poke further. I hope people respect that

How can you speculate that it's weird for Nicola and Luke when like the other anon said, Nicola is out here liking videos of people saying they're dating. I can't imagine she would do that if it felt weird to her or she was uncomfortable. The woman has a polaroid of her and Luke in her transparent phone case for goodness sake. Luke even put a video on his instagram where it zooms in on them holding hands. They're fully aware that people are speculating and with Nicola telling the story about them shooting the carriage scene and carrying on longer than necessary it's obvious they're leaning into this. I get that you may think that a certain amount of respect it due to them both, and I agree, but they're clearly not bothered by the speculation on their relationship because it's bringing attention to the show.
Yeah obviously they’ve been told to create the speculation and are ok with it like you’ve said. It’s a promo strategy they’ve been told to use by Netflix and are playing the game very well. It’s fun to be in the joke with them, but my main point is I hope people don’t go too far with it and it becomes toxic; a similar thing happened with Corey and India, and some fans were hating on the formers girlfriend. Nicola and Luke are going to have to walk a fine line between themselves during the promotion period, and I hope they look themselves during it.

I appreciate you speaking out about the fandom needing to be respectful of Nicola and Luke’s relationships and their privacy, but Nicola is favoriting TikToks speculating about Luke and she dating irl.
I think it’s part of promo like what Sidney and Glenn did for their romcom, where they get fans to believe there’s something going on there to hype everyone up, so while I personally agree with your post, this isn’t really on the fans any longer. The actors want that kind of spec, for better or worse.
Yeah keeping the general public guessing is definately part of the promo strategy for better, or worse like you say. They did it for Queen Charlotte with India and Corey - until the former said he had a girlfriend. I wasn’t aware of Nicola liking those particular TikToks, I hope Luke’s aware. I just hope people don’t become too weird about Luke and Nicola’s relationship, yes they are fuelling the speculation and are creating the narrative, but they’ve obviously been told to create it, and it all seems very murky when it comes to crossing the line which has got to be weird for them, and their partners.

A thought that keeps popping up now that promo is ramping up.. I really hope that people stay respectful to Luke and Nicola’s relationship, they have said multiple time that they are friends, and that should be that. Please be respectful to their respective partners should they chose to be open about a relationship, and don’t try and find out more should they wish to keep it quiet. Nicola and Luke are people who are being paid to promote the show and a narrative.

This is going to be a rant post, and if that’s not what you want then carry on scrolling.
Ever since promotion for series 3 started, the amount of fat phobic comments I have seen has been saddening. I’m also seeing comments about how Luke has ‘redeemed’ himself now that he’s had a ‘glow up’ and as result he’s now deemed more ‘f***able’. People really are way too comfortable commenting on a strangers body.
I also fail to understand the vitriol that has been unleashed to Luke and Nicola since the worldwide promo tour has been announced. Certain fans are citing favouritism at the expense of Kanthony. Personally I don’t see the point in favouring a couple at the expense of another, all 8 Bridgerton siblings will get their happy ending on the show if it gets that far, it’s unfortunate that season 1 and 2 could not get more promo in person world wide due to the COVID pandemic. I will fail to understand why ships on a show garner so much toxicity towards real life actors, and why some elements of the fandom think that this is ok. I myself got sent some hateful anons calling me ‘an uggo’ which is both not okay, and ironic since my face is not on my page as a personal choice after talking about my annoyance at some comments about Nicola and Luke.
Despite all this I’m still very much looking forward to seeing the content from the world tour and finally seeing season 3 in it’s entirety, but I do think I will be taking a huge step back from the online fandom. Fandom wars are just not worth it for a fictional show.

I honestly do not understand why so many people are annoyed that Netflix are doing a promotional world tour for season 3, and are once again hating Nicola and Luke for daring to promote season 2. Do people not remember that season 2 premiered during Covid so Jonathan and Simone could not travel internationally to promote even if they wanted?
Seriously this abuse towards any actor in the show as a result of shipping has to stop.

Speaking as someone with chinese descent myself, there is honestly nothing wrong with George using the dragon, tiger, and the colour red to represent the Chinese cultures. I am perfectly aware of other cultural representations that could've been used in the helmet designing process but that doesn't mean as the dragon, tiger and red colour cultural symbolism as 'overrated' or 'overused'.
Tumblr media
Like?? Why are you calling a cultural symbolism 'overused' and 'overrated'? It's CULTURE. There is no such terms as overused/overrated when it comes to cultural symbolisms lol. All of the chinese representative elements that George used in his helmet have generally good meanings and are very meaningful. Just because Zhou says he opted not to use the general cultural symbolism doesn't mean Zhou says what George is doing is something a 'basic uncultured thing' foreigner would do. Do you even see how Zhou himself posts the instagram story of George's helmet and appreciates it? Zhou is a native so obviously as someone who is more familiar with the culture, he would've opted for other symbols that represent his home, his country and his culture but that doesn't mean what George is doing with his helmet is wrong, uncultured, overused or overrated.
Imagine you are trying to be edgy and speak out for a culture but at the same time, you're misunderstanding the narrative because you are brainless and indirectly called the cultural symbolism "BASIC". I'm not sure if Zhou would like you for disrespecting and saying that about his culture

Ever since the trailer for season has been released I have seen some rather annoying comments which say that Colin, and Luke have become more interesting now that the glow up has happened, and that he used to be fat and ugly in previous seasons. People really are way too comfortable talking about peoples appearance and bodies. Most of the hate towards Polin is rooted in fat phobia, and it’s disturbing. Yes it’s a romance show, but that doesn’t give people excuses to make horrible comments about people’s bodies, there are actual people playing these people, and I think people forget just how easily comments can be seen. Reducing characters and actors to the sex appeal that you think that they can provide for you is a choice.

Just catching up with the race, and I’m sorry but I can’t understand Lewis fans for being annoyed at George for being let past Lewis when it was Lewis choice…

I can’t believe that after so long [albeit with some circumstances beyond their control] that Bridgerton season 3 finally comes out next month. I’m certain that if it was any other show, I would have given up by now. But there’s just something about Polin, about Luke and Nicola and the hate they’ve received that has made me continually root for them. I can’t wait until their hard work can be shown to the world, and what opportunities come their way.

Oh my god yes, I could not agree with everything you have said more. So true. It’s actually unhinged, and disturbing how personal they get with Luke and Nicola. I have even heard that they are doing time stamps for Kanthony for season 3 to not give it views. I mean?!
It broke my heart to hear them say they were nervous to look in the comments during the Valentine’s Day events, especially when Simone and Johnny have said multiple times times how happy they are to pass the batton. I also root for the underdog, and I will continue to do so here.
I’m so looking forward to watching season 3 and what Nicola and Luke have been up to. The new promos have been amazing, but I will never understand why fans who don’t like Polin will invest so much time and energy commenting and interacting with posts involving them. If you don’t like Polin, fair enough. But please remember that Luke and Nicola are really people with feelings & will see comments..

The George and Toto situation is so weird to me. Because theoretically George should be a mercedes golden boy like lando is McLaren's. Like he has dedicated his life to toto and mercedes since he was a child, he's spent close to half his life now with mercedes as the goal even when he's had to jump whatever hurdles they put in front of him (the entire Williams stint).
And like he's very close to toto? He's going on family holidays, he's having sleepovers, he was one of the first people Toto told about Lewis leaving. And yet when he should be the team leader/first driver next year- as Toto said he would be when the lewrarri announcement was made, it appears that Toto is trying to shop around for a lead driver? Like Toto is publicly trying to court Carlos or Fernando and bending over backwards to praise Max and say he 'would do handstands' to get him in Mercedes.
Like what do you do in that situation? He's tied his cart to mercedes horse with the promise that he would be a world champion with them and now the car is shit and they wanna test you again to see if you can lead against a world champion. But also you're still stuck having to suck up to your boss who's happy to ignore you in favour of his new favourite Kimi

Op isn’t being over sensitive, this isn’t on especially from people working for f1 broadcast.
It’s all no surprise that it’s come from that cult again.
How lovely that we’ve now got people who work for the official f1 broadcast sharing tweets from people mocking George’s crash.
Someone tell me if I’m being too sensitive here.

I’m still going on about this, and quite frankly I don’t care.
I am livid at the jokes at George’s expense after his crash. His social media comments are quite frankly disgusting, and I’m sorry the vast majority of them are coming from his teammates fans. The hatred is disturbing, he is literally facing side on a live track begging for a red flag, when some idiots are saying he is only calling for it to protect his position. I highly doubt that at that moment his position mattered, he was more concerned at protecting his life which was in danger. I will never understand why race control didn’t red flag it immediately, it was incredibly lucky that he wasn’t closer to another car coming through, or that could have had a very different, and potential somber outcome. As much as we enjoy watching the cars on track, I sometimes think that the fact that the drivers are human gets lost. No matter who you support, or dislike, compassion and empathy should not get lost when a serious incident occurs.

The absolute state of George’s comment right now.. he had a serious accident that could have been so much worse. Have some empathy ffs!

Now isn’t the time to joke and make memes about George’s crash. It is time however to question the FIA why on earth that wasn’t red flagged. So grateful to see that he’s ok.
