🧶 Hexagon Sweater 🧶 - Here’s another sweater I have in the works, but this one is crocheted! (I have so many WIPs on the go right now! 🙈) This is my version of the Hexagon Sweater. 🧶 Latest Hobbii Haul! 🧶 - I always love what I get from @hobbii_yarn but in placing a bigger order to get free shipping, I got dinged with three times as much in customs fees. Wish it was on Hobbii’s website that you might get charged at customs. I would have just paid the shipping. 🙈 I still love the items I got, just bummed about the fees. Anyway! End of mini rant. lol In this order: I got a pretty roomy round purple yarn bag, 3 cakes of Universe in Orion, 3 skeins of Dream Colour in High Mountain, a roll of Macramé Deluxe 5mm cord, and 2 different colour skeins of Silly Socks! I can’t wait to start using all of this beautiful yarn! (And see what my spouse makes with the cord!) The Dream Colour wool is to knit a sweater for my spouse to match mine! First ever attempt at Fair Isle/Stranded Knitting 🧶 - I wasn’t sure when I started, but turns out, I absolutely LOVE Stranded Knitting!! I found it MUCH easier than I was anticipating and I even managed to keep my yarns from tangling! Fair Isle is stranded knitting, but not all stranded knitting is Fair Isle. I did not know this! My understanding now is that Fair Isle knitting usually only has two colours per row and limited blocks of a single colour; so since I used more than 2 colours in a few rows and some very large blocks of one colour at a time, I’m thinking only part of this sweater would be considered Fair Isle, at best. lol Either way! I really enjoy Stranded knitting and will absolutely be doing more sweaters with it! I already have a whole bunch of colourwork patterns saved. When I first cast on this project, I knew that I wanted the top to be mainly Natural White; the bottom to be mostly Violet; and this moon phases pattern on the front panel, but I couldn’t find a moon phase colourwork design big enough online. So I grabbed a sheet of graphing paper and made my own and I think I did pretty well! I’m SO glad the chevron/zigzag pattern worked out and is even the whole way around the sweater. Could have been a disaster. 🧶 This was the perfect day to take some photos of this 100% wool beauty. Of course, she still needs sleeves, but they’ll have to wait for another day. The main Natural White and Violet yarns are both gifts my Mom picked out for me while visiting Ireland and I’m so jazzed to have finally used them in a project I’m pleased with! (I had crocheted a shawl that I ravelled out.) The Magenta and Washed White used in the moons are from @briggslittle in New Brunswick, Canada. I’m attempting something new..ish! 🧶 - On this WIP Wednesday I thought it fitting to show you the new thing I started today. Of course it’s still with yarn; but I’m using it in a new way! I’ve never done any kind of weaving or whatever you wanna call this. Would you consider it weaving? Or is there another term I’m totally blanking on right now..? 🤪 Loom?
