An Anxious Monster
2′ x 3′ Cradled wood panel, sides painted black. Acrylics. Carving. Hacked at with palette knife and a bit with carving tool along tentacle things for sliced texture.
About 90% completed, would still like to go back and clean up some areas + finish carving around the tentacles.
Right click (I think its alt click on mac) view image in new tab for larger scale.

Words Never To Be Said, 2017.
A mini comic intended for print, adjusted for web. Part of a series I am working on this semester that focuses on different emotions and states of being that I struggle with but presented in a way that is a bit more extreme but at the same time more universal in identity. Many people, if not all, have experienced anxiety and perhaps it was not this intense, perhaps it was worse, but experienced.
edit: Please right click to see full images. My apologies that is a terrible way to go about this. Ill provide a link when I have this up somewhere with better viewing as I cannot think of a better way to do it via tumblr.

Silvester Collecting in a Forest
Another character I hope to show more of soon. I would describe him and what is happening but the stories are being redone.
Course work for an assignment utilizing the wiping technique. I really liked this technique, especially for skin and texture.
Materials: Koi watercolor, arches 10x14 smooth with gesso applied.

Denny Clark - Fall 2016.
Im always surprised about the somewhat negative reactions I get when I draw someone smoking.
Watercolor painting, including the sketch. Im messy when I draw so I do the drawing on another piece of paper and then utilize transfer paper to put it onto the watercolor paper. Instructor did not want anyone using lines in the artworks, but I quite like the linework on the sketch.
Materials: Koi watercolors, Arches rough watercolor block 10x14

Narcissus
When Narcissus saw the pool he did know that he saw himself. Instead he saw an old man who’s hair had migrated from his head to his beard that swirled in the water before him. He was the most beautiful man Narcissus had ever seen and so he laid by the pool and reached out to touch him.
Painting utilizing only wet into wet for an assignment. I liked the idea of Narcissus not seeing beauty in his younger self but instead falling for what he thinks is just some sexy ass silver fox.
I plan to redo this piece in the future.
Materials: Koi watercolor, Arches Smooth paper half of one of them big sheets

It was a sign of trust when he pushed back his hat and revealed his eye. For most he would pull out a crystal ball, said to be blessed by priests from the desert where his brother lived. For most this was enough, small fortunes of misty visions. But this was important, and he cared, and the mists of his sight cleared when he could open his eye fully with no barrier to block the way. He laid out his palms, touch would send him deeper, tilted his head back, and lost himself in the waves.
Watercolor, single washes. The greens were individually mixed instead of layer washing. Sketch done on separate piece of paper and transferred with carbon paper.
Materials: Koi Watercolors, Arches 10x14 Rough Block.

Zync cut project for letterpress. The assignment was to take a zync cut/writing and respond with writing/zync cut.
Original writing; the text is easiest to read when it faces away from the light.
Run of 27. Zync printed on clamshell press, text printed on flatbed. Posterboard chosen for thickness, colour, and texture (fibers give a stormy effect).
Edit: oh wow can't see that scanned one on my phone, I'll fix it tonight

Bunch of skulls from class studies and homework. I was trying to draw African head binding/elongating. I'm sorry can't remember the tribe at the moment. But I got lost in using the string system and trying to have more perfect lines. I'll probably work on it more.
