Verity by Coleen Hoover thoughts/Opinions:
I’m going to start by admitting a couple things. 1) I’m not a fan of Colleen Hoovers books and 2) this is my second book by her after ugly love which I didn’t rlly like.
Okay now verity. It’s been in my TBR for a long time, my friend loved it and I saw it all over Tik tok, everyone said it was some of Hoovers best work. I was excited to finally read it, I wanted something dark and suspenseful after reading a bunch of smutty romance books. And while I did read this book in one sitting and it was very riveting it just did not live up to the hype for me. ( to be fair tho book tok hyped it up SO Much, I don’t think any book can live up to that kind of hype)
So my first problem was with Lowen. She was a very flat character. I kept thinking we were gonna get some kind of revelation or breakthrough with her but honestly I couldn’t rlly figure her out. I guess the book was more ab verity and lowen was just the narrator ? But I thought she was boring. We didn’t even get a good description of her other then her looking “dead” in the first few pages and that makes it hard for me to Visualize her in my head. I feel like there was so much buildup, she was cooped up for months taking care of her mom. Didn’t have much friends, was poor and has an um sleepwalking ?? Problem. Which I found weird and that the book tried to make it much deeper then it was. Also, the first scene in the novel her seeing the car accident… was that supposed to foreshadow something ??! I don’t know it was weird, but I admit a pretty great way to start a story.
Next, Jeremy. Really fucking weird and the whole romance between Jeremy and Lowen was rlly fucking weird i understand the whole sexual tension but I don’t understand why they were like “falling in love” they seemed to bond by sharing trauma but I didn’t rlly feel actual chemistry between them and I honestly feel like it was uneeded in the book. Considering how much Jeremy went through, losing two children and then his wife being in a coma. I just didn’t feel like him and lowen had anything except for sexual tension.
I don’t have much complaints about the manuscript. It was SICK and dark and twisted and fun to read ill admit. It was just lowens story that I wasn’t feeling.
I also got the chills while reading the letter. But I was more concerned to the way Lowen reacted to the letter then the actual letter. To be honest I’m not sure if I believe it. There are many holes. But it’s crazy that we won’t ever know if Jeremy was the one who killed her or not and it’s twisted that Lowen seems to excuse the fact he killed her. But him being the one who drove the car into the tree makes more sense to why he was so quick to kill her when he figured out she was alive.
Honestly this book was in no way bad. I can talk ab it for hours. I guess personally I’m not the biggest fan of Colleen Hoover, but I think it’s because I’ve read A LOT and I prefer Well written and descriptive books to plot twists thst Ik she’s known for.
Lmk what you guys think !!! Hopefully I can create more blog posts like this i read a lot haha

Ok I understand that Cassie was extremely drunk when she screwed Nate but according to the trailer at the end of the episode Cassie and Nate continue seeing eachother secretly… so it’s not just a “drunk mistake”

my favorite line in the whole movie had to be when Andrew replies to Strange “You were in the Grand Canyon? Why DIDN’T YOU HELP HIM?” as if Strange wasn’t fighting for his life and pride after being beaten
